Very simple, stations like Fox or CBS affliated bought the rights to air the episodes, just like Adult Swim and Comedy Central did/ are doing. It doesn't mean Comedy Central loses its rights, it means that other stations are wanting to air these episodes. These will be airing like from 7-8 or after 11, when other shows like Family Guy and the Simpsons are airing. These are just repeats, and who knows if they bought the original episodes, those plus the movies, or that plus the new season. Anywho, it means that there will be another channel airing episodes of futurama.

Long story short: Futurama reruns will be broadcast on non-pay TV, soon. This is great news, but not unexpected as most shows see syndication as soon as they hit 100 episodes, which Futurama will hit at the end of this Comedy Central season.

it's good news. means fox is making more money from the show. the more money they make the better chance the show will be picked up for more episodes.

the package of reruns bought obviously will include all the eps including the movies and new batch which will equal 114 episodes if you include next season. though the next batch of 13 that will be shown next summer on com central might not go immediately if comedy central has the rights to them for a period of time.

Assuming this translates outside of the U.S., you know how when ABC broadcasts Lost, it's on every ABC station in the country at the same time? That's network. You know how at 5pm, your Fox channel is broadcasting reruns of The Simpsons but when you visit your friend/family out of town you turn on Fox at 5pm to see Judge Judy. That's because it's syndicate. It's the local stations that are broadcasting individually rather than the big big shows that are broadcast directly by the corporate affiliate.

Let's keep it really simple

No, it does not mean Futurama was renewed.

As others have already explained, syndication of a television program is when the producer sells the rights to air already-made episodes to non-network stations.

However, we all hope Futurama is renewed. I like where they've been going with the series and would love to see it continue.

This was mentioned in a magazine a while ago where even though Comedy centrel has comissioned 26 new episodes, later on Fox may want the rights to air the new episodes first, if that were to happen it doesnt mean comedy central loses its rights to air the new episodes aswell.
