Can't get enough Futurama
In Color

The morning after...(UPDATED!)

In a mixed awards evening, Futurama walked off with only one award as well as Matt Groening's 'Winsor McCay Lifetime Achievement Award'.

Ken Keeler was the deserved winner of best writing in an animated production for 'The Prisoner of Benda' at the WGAs.

Futurama missed out on awards at the Annies, unfortunately, with 'Kung Fu Panda Holiday Special' winning best animated programme(yes, really) and Robot Chicken Star Wars III winning best writing. A strange night at the Annies really with Toy Story getting mainly shunned.

So a huge congrats to Ken for that fantastic win!

UPDATE:
Here's some pictures of Ken Keeler with his sparkling award...

I think it also has to do with the fact that this is a adult show not a kids show or a kid-ault show (Meaning for both kids and adults). It's also on cable now and a 10:00 P.M. show. Now I didn't see Kung Fu Panda Holiday....But I did see the movie and loved it. Still Matt walked away with a lifetime achievement and the DVD movies won for best picture I think the beast with a billion backs beat Batman Gotham Knights. It's a honor to just be nominated. Besides the show is comming back in June and I'm sure for 2012 as well.

Go Ken Keeler!

Eh, what about The Late Philip J Fry? How'd a mediocre episode win? Well, congrats, guys!

@JeremyFein
I think that futurama is a kid-adult show not an adult show.

@Richard
The Prisoner Of Benda was a far better episode than The Late Phillip J Fry. The The Late Phillip J Fry was not very funny, with only a few jokes for 20 minutes, and it was not particularly clever, I honestly cant think why some people enjoyed it THAT much. It basically consists of:
1.The professor invents a time machine (not original or clever).
2.They go through the future into boring and not funny or creative times.
3. Fry and Leela relationship. I mean for god's sake its a CARTOON SITCOM not a daytime soap.
PLEASE explain to me how it was better than The Prisoner Of Benda?

The Prisoner Of Benda was a fantastic episode - easily the best of season 6 and deserved to win.

Well done Keeler, very well deserved, although I agree to some degree with Joe, prisoner was a better episode but maybe not as bad as you make it out to be, although both entertaining in two very different ways.

I found it interesting that Robot Chicken Star Wars III won best writing. Its a parity, shouldn't the award go to George Lucas? Futurama should have won.

My opinion is that the two notably best episodes this season were The Late Phillip J Fry and The Prisoner of Benda.

The difference though is that 'The Late...' is an episode which achieves greatness through a whole range of things, from the fantastic direction to the writing to some excellent visuals and a well rounded story arc.

'...Benda' I think gets it's props largely on the writing. If you think about it there isn't really anything out of the ordinary visually and the episode doesn't really stray from the characters home surroundings. Therefore most of episode comes from the sharp writing and the great idea at the heart of it.
Then Ken goes one step further and even creates a Mathematical theorem to end the plot correctly. Basically you're looking at an episode where the writing is clearly the stand out quality. And since this is a WRITERS award I believe that's why Ken deservedly got it.

But hey that's just my opinion...

Totally agree James its very odd as it basically just adding gags to someone elses writing.

Futurama should have won as there have been some excellent stories this season, it stood out from other seasons which is more than most TV shows can do no matter how good they are (difference between Family Guy season 4 and 5 anyone???).

Congratulations, Matt Groening! Excellent work over the years.

Thank you for sticking with Futurama and resurrecting yet another time!

no one cares about the annies since Disney threw a hissy fit and took their ball home.

Dreamworks basically pays for wins now too.

it is a sad sad time for animation
