If all of us Futurama fans write comedy central and tell them how we love the show and to please renew the show it might help our cause to renew the best show on TV. I did my part so please fans flood comedy central with e mails.

may be I am reading way too into this tweet from Eric Rogers but wouldn't season 8 mean that comedy central renewed the show for 2014?

In case people did not know this past season was season 7-a the episodes that will air this summer are season 7-b which would make next season in 2014 be season 8-a and the season after that would be season 8-b so esentialy unless Eric Rogers made a mistake he was talking about season 8 and Futurama has already been renewed.....

There's various different ways people have been referring to seasons. That tweet was from 2011 and probably referred to the episode 'Zapp Dingbat' which was the first episode he wrote for this past season. Comedy Central commissioned 26 episodes, 13 were shown last summer and 13 for this summer so when they did Eric(who's held various positions in the writers room) was hired as a 'staff writer' for those 26 episodes, something which he hasn't been before. It's a contract thing.

Bottom line is Comedy Central hasn't commissioned any episodes past this summer. They will probably make a decision before or around the start of the new episodes in June as they need advance time to make episodes: it takes around 8 months!

If or when they do we'll be posting about it here and on our twitter feed!

from what I heard Eric Rogers who if you did not know is a writer for Futurama, anounced on twitter recently that an anoucement about a renewal would come in january 2013. I go by what comedy central says, if they say last season was season 7a then that is what I believe, even though I consider the 4 movies to be part of the episode run. and just to clear this up about Eric Rogers tweet the info I got came from the peel message boards on this site, from a guy named DannyJC13
who claims to tweet questions to Eric Rogers, and Eric responds often too the fans....
