Why no new futurama?

I hoped you all enjoyed the rerun of Bendless Love cause it'll be a while till you see some futurama again

Fox will air most of its regular schedule against the Olympics, primarily with new episodes. And the network, which had pledged to tone down its reality programming, will air at least one reality special as Olympics competition. On Feb. 22, Fox will air the two-hour special When Animals Invade Your Home vs. the Olympics' figure-skating exhibition event. The network had also planned to air Glutton Bowl: The World's Greatest Eating Competition on Feb. 21 against the Olympics' women's figure-skating finals (typically the Games' top-rated event), but Glutton Bowl's airdate was undetermined at press time.

So we will probably (there could be reruns, but we can't guarantee anything) have no Futurama till after the olympics, which is a grim day for Robot and Human kind We will try to entertain you with new stuff and information. Post your comments...

Glutton Bowl?? When animals invade your home?? Is this FOX' idea of quality entertainment? Geez, seems like I groosly overrated the IQ score of FOX execs. What'll be their next "brainchild", "When dustbunnies clog your nose"?

They have the entire 4ACV batch, and a handfull of 3ACV episodes, just lying there, waiting. Why don't they air some new episodes. [Explitive deleted]

Hmm, I huess we can hang our hopes on that little sentence: Fox will air most of its regular schedule against the Olympics, primarily with new episodes. I seriously doubt it, :( but keeps my faith nontheless.

It kind of seems like Futurama is gonna get canned soon doesn't it? Feels like if FOX wanted it around they would either air it at another time during football and olympics, etc. or find a new slot for it permanently for this year. Just seems to me Futurama is getting stiff armed and won't be around for long. Sad!

Well, "normal" futurama is reruns, isnt it ?
The other thing they said is that they wont spend money on co-op advertising for that period, so I think they would be more unwilling to air new things. But I would be pleased to see them air new ones of course. I'd say it's 50:50

doesn't that mean it will try to air as many new episodes of shows a possible?
Plus, February is sweeps so they would normally want to air new eps for the ratings...

we still can hope for the olympic time, but till 10th Feb there sure is no new one ...

sucks kind of. Some FOX programming head guy said they are looking for shows without intershow story lines for 6 months now. Isn't Futurama kind of one ?

if theres no new futurama for a while then thats gonna really suck!!! the fox exec that decided to not air futurama (i only see ONE rerun coming up in the next 2 weeks) should be canned, then allowed to be beaten up by an angry mob.

Considering the shabby treatment Fox is giving Futurama, has anyone given some thought about where Futurama could be moved to? I was thinking about Sci-Fi Channel. If they were to pick up Futurama, I might consider forgiving them for cancelling MST3K.
