Can't get enough Futurama

Season 2 DVD set

As payndz from ANSTATMAW just told on PEEL in this thread, FOX will release the Season 2 DVD set sometime before Xmas this year around Europe. Season 2 with its 19 episodes for many still is the best one out there.

I'm a bit split on the quickiness FOX seems to be in with the Futurama DVDs. With 32 episodes (13 in the current season 1 DVD set) out on DVD at the end of this year the value of a syndication will probably take a hit. It might be that FOX gave up on the idea to get Futurama syndicated or they just think that the DVD sales make up for more than what the value of the series drops in syndication.

Corrected a bit. It's 19, not 20 episodes and yes it should include "The Honking" and more importantly "War is the H word" as they go by production season.

Is there syndication outside of the USA? If not, the release of two full seasons in other parts of the world won't hurt its syndication chances (which is bad news for those of us waiting for a Region 1 DVD release); that's one of the reasons regions exist in the first place. ("Friends" has been available in season sets in Europe for years, and its syndication in the USA didn't seem to be hurt.)

#6: They sell the right to air the episodes in a region/country. Homemade competition sure affects the license pricing, but I'm not sure how much. One can argue that only the real freaks buy the DVDs while the TV station go for the bulk viewers.
