Futurama TV ratings

Yesterday's TV rating for the Futurama rerun of "That's Lobstertainment!" was back to the show's low: (2.8/5). Only solace: At (2.6/5) the show following it (Greg the Bunny) was even slightly worse in rating terms.
Here is a short overview of the previews Futurama reruns this summer:
  • (3.2/6) A Leela of her own
  • (3.1/6) A Pharaoh to Remember
  • (2.8/5) Anthology of Interest II / Leela's Homeworld combined
  • (2.9/6) Love & Rocket
  • (3.2/6) Roswell That Ends Well

I guess these TV ratings have nothing to do with how much the very episode is liked, but only with the time people have to watch it or not, due to the stupid time slot.

Hey... Quick question: How are TV ratings calculated? I mean, howcome for example, a lot of the ratings have differant denominators (5 or 6) from the other. How are these numbers tallied? What do they represent? Why aren't they just written in pure decimal form (eg 3.2/6 = 0.533)? I was just wondering...

They are two different ratings:
The first number is the share of all "TV Households" which watched it, the second is the share of all TV households which were actually watching TV. So, the First is important for the advertizers as it tells them how many people watched the show while the second is a rating in regards to the competition programs.
