I won't quote the 'sensitive' bit from the eMail, but it was basically about it seeming a bit unfair to them that some fans are shunning on that idea while Groening & Co try their best to keep Futurama up. I agree although I think that the episodes are by far the best about Futurama and it would be hard not to miss them.

I think the episodes are the best weapon to keep Futurama alive, and would miss them. But if it increases the possibility of new episodes in the future, I could accept a year of mostly merchandise, comics, the video game (still not for PC :( ) and DVD's. I would miss the episodes, and will be there when they return.

I ahve a feeling most diehard fans would accept this and remain loyal, I'm not so sure if the casual viewer feels the same.

Futurama is a TV show so it's all about the episodes but if they succeed to keep the spirit of the show alive in merchandise, then I will be happy with that.

Frankly, i would love it if Futurama stayed off the air for a year or two, got LOTS of fans from games, comics, and a MOVIE would be greeeeeeaaaat!!!! Then there would be so many people begging for new episodes FOX would have to make them.....I hope :(

The futurama series have made a new breed of science-fiction/comedyand great animation all bundled into one. The comedy appeals to all ages and keeps you laughing all the way through the episodes.

Just as long as it isnt Futurama:The Next Generation, with Cubert as the main character, with his lovable rogueish robot friend Spender, who takes other peoples many and spends it.

As we all know, it is an absolute travesty that the show has been/is being cancelled, but if I had to choose between Fox signing on for ONE more season and a movie, I would go with the movie. Here's why: people who have never watched the show would be more likely to go and see the movie out of sheer boredom than to make a point of being on the couch when the show comes on (not to mention the difficulty of finding a Sunday night when Fox actually bothers to show it). A movie would bring far more attention to the show (still on the air or not) than just another season would, and some folks who had never been Futurama fans would BECOME Futurama fans after seeing (and, presumably, enjoying) the movie.

Frankly, I'd choose another season over a movie. Network television in the US is so bad that losing a show the caliber of Futurama is a shame. It's one of only a handful of American shows worth watching.
Of course, I'd still welcome a movie, toys, etc...

I suppose beggars can't be choosers so I would love to see a movie even if there were no new episodes on tv.

Most of the merchandise for the show doesn't really intrest me that much. I mean sure I may pick up a cool Fry figurine or something at the local store, but to me the real magic occurs when the writers, animators and voice actors come together to create an episode(and hopefully a movie).

I also have some intrest in the videogame if it turns out well.

Any futurama is better than no futurama, but I still wish there'd be more episodes. A movie and video games are interesting ideas that I hope come off. Episodes are #1 by far in my book, but if FOX is so stupid(seems they are), I'll satisfy my futurama needs with whatever they put out. One way to help themselves would be to get the damn DVDs out in the US, bring 'em on!

I know that as long as theres a bit of Futurama, ill be happy, even if i have to pay for merchandise and games....as long as it doesnt dissappear from the face of the earth.

K, heres what were goin to do fox were gonna take a hugely successful movie called futurama the movie, matt groening, david x. cohen and company are gonna make it so great it gets excellent reviews and millions go to see it, whats that u havent noticed, than we shove it up ur ass and u get a thought in ur head that says, hey this is good lets make it as successful in episodes as simpsons and bring it back, TAKE THAT FOX!

The series isn't good. It is the best! Merchandise, hmm ok, I could buy some nice plastic-bender, but not only some toys. The Real Futurama is the tv-series, that's why you have a TV. A movie, sure why not, but if the series is put down, then I'll be dissapointed. Fox can't demand us to live without fry, bender and, especially, dr zoidberg.

I'd love to see a Futurama movie! Yeah, I'd miss the episodes terribly but I'm with Marc -- I'd rather have SOMETHING Futurama than nothing. And I'm really looking forward to the videogame next year. I hope it'll be cool. The comics, I think, have been a mixed bag. Some are great, some miss the mark. I also wonder if they couldn't take it to another network? Maybe the deal with Fox precludes this for all but syndication. I'm sure it's been addressed elsewhere.

Not even the Simpsons can beat the episode quality and all-round laugh-a-minute action of the Futurama TV show. Nothing is worthy of it's substitute. I for one will be remembering it with great respect and sentiment. Futurama RIP

Whatever keeps Futurama alive is a good thing. That said, the tv show *is* Futurama. The comics are nice, but the soul of Futurama is the voice acting and the Foley work on the cartoon. I would *love* to see a Futurama movie. That would rock.

Which would I rather see, another season or a movie? That's tough. I think I'd like to see a movie, if only to see what kick-ass concepts they could come up with. But I would certainly take another season, too. Any way we can get both?

I personally would like to see Futurama span into newer frontiers -- the show is good enough to. Something along the lines of Flash comics. The Critic cartoon did a small run of Flash comics and 85% of them were darn funny. The Futurama crew knows the fans are out there, and the Web would be a great place to reach us.

If this, however, was not possible, I believe the show could maintain a cult following through merchandise and comics -- but it would be forever fading. It's a cartoon series and it needs some form of animation and voice acting to really make it shine.

A movie "seems" like a great idea, but it could backfire. That's a big money sink that has to make its money back. If the Futurama team is up to the challenge, I know I'd go see it =) Futurama has a much better chance at making it on the big screen then the Simpsons since it actually has an on going plot to work from.

There is no "season" without episodes - you might just as well say that Star Trek is into it's 41st season otherwise.

The merchandise is a nice reminder of what once was, but "it ain't the real thing".

like many already i would rather see futurama continue more than anything else, in either a movie or another season. i for one will be buying all the seasons on dvd when they are out here in the uk, ealready got season 1 and 2 is pre ordered and i am waitng for number 3.

Any Futurama is good Futurama, as long as the important people are still invovled in it's production. In terms of merchandise I'm even thinking about a PS2 just for the Futurama game release. A movie would be great, if done well. Unfortunately there is always the possibilities that some of the higher ups (with the creativitiy and humor of an oil slick) will decide to take "control" of the movie production. I have faith that the Emmy, the 150,000+ signiatures, and Mat Groening will speak loudly to those making the final decisions. More and more episodes though would be perfect.

Hey, I'd love Futurama no matter what happened. I think the best thing to happen would be that another channel picked it up (possibly Cartoon Network since they already bought the rights to show it). The problem is though, that they'd need to reassemble a production team (right?). Anyways, a movie sounds like a great idea, but how many movies from TV shows are awsome? I think that's why they never made a Simpsons movie. I mean it sounds like a great idea, but unless it's of movie calibur it really turns into a waste (can anyone say X-Files?)......

I think an episode free year is unavoidable at this point. Fox is not going to commit until it sees a rating increase, and that won't happen until first quarter 2003. Even if Fox gave the order for more episodes today, assembling talent, writing scripts and the animation process would mean no Futurama for at least a year after that, and probably longer.

As to a movie - that is a resource hog in itself and would delay the possibility of new episodes even longer. Remember - animation is a very, very long process.

In a perfect world, I would like to see Fox finally ax (read "free") the show, the Cartoon Network reruns do really well and Groenig and company syndicate new episodes in 2004. Although it would mean we don't all watch at the same time, it would also mean few if any interruptions and a season's shows being shown in proper order.
