Yea, but the problem is it's the only way for most people outside the US to see it. I download episodes and still watch them when they are aired in the UK, and buy more merchandise since i probably wouldn't have gotten re-hooked on Futurama if i never got the chance to see the new ones.
Fox are better off as they get my money from buying products!

On a Non-Episode-Download side, it is at all likely that the "5th" season will be seen by many people? If I was FOX and hated Futurama I would just ruin the broadcast of every single episode with pre-empting and so on (we do't get pre-empting in the UK, i din't know what it meant until i came here!)

Is this the likely end to Futurama, a season that people will basically see for the first time on DVD?

Anyway, some people will suffer due to football again, but some others won't. I don't think that FOX is out to purposefully destroy Futurama air times now, but they simply don't care about it.

That episode description sounds really cool. This episode could go either way, but it sounds more promising now. It's a pitty the the Season 3 episode 'The Route Of All Evil' wasn't the premiere instead, but I'm sure they'll show it... eventually.

Futurama has been cancelled. This so-called "Season 5" is just the old season 4 episodes (and one season 3 episode) that they never aired. It is cancelled, trust me :(

...But what if Futurama actually gets good ratings during this "season"? Do you think that would put it back on the air with a real season 6 of all new episodes?

Only if it does incredibly well will it be brought back for a brand new season next year. The crew has been fired/sacked/let go. The production season takes about half a year minimum from conception to completion, assuming everyone was there to work on it in the first place. If Fox wanted a new season, rehiring will have to start by December at the latest. It is quite unlikely there will be new ones, basically.

I knew that having Gore back on the show might cause some not to like the episode in advance, but I seriously think you (non-gorey people) should have some faith in the Futurama team. They won't just take Gore and make him an all round hero in the show. He'll get his fair share of mocking like "inventor of the environment".
The reason the Futurama staff has him on the show is 1. he seems to like the show and 2. his daughter writes for the show.

Living in Canada and trying to watch Futurama is hard because nobody here gives a good god damn about football in any way, so it's like an extra kick in the groin. Nobody gets what they want.

I just watched the commentaries on the Season 2 DVDs for Gore's first appearance in Futurama: AOI1. The staff said he was great at it, rolling on his couch while screaming for the "universe destroyed" scene. They also said he and Hawking both had a great sense of humor. Maybe that's why they like having him on the show. Few major politicians are both open and skilled enough for such things.

Just enjoy the show on Sunday.

Damn football . . . Why the fuck does FOX air "Classic Simpsons" reruns at 7:30, rather than show Futurama then? Come on! I am so pissed, I waited for this episode for months!

I have nearly every Futurama episode on my computer. I see nothing wrong with downloading it because the show has been written-off by FOX. If they ever release a North-American DVD I will buy it guaranteed. Until then it's either an illegal copy or nothing. I expect Space Channel in Canada will pick up the show eventually and re-air it.
On the upside, four years is still a good run for a series. It would be great to rival the Simpsons for airtime but few cartoons can even attempt that.

Fuck football! The season premiere was spoilt by a long game of Jacksonville VS Washington. I am so going to hate football for the rest of my life.
