According to yesterday's USA Today, Futurama's premiere (if it can be called that) was the lowest rated program for the week on FOX. Of course, the program was pre-empted in the Washington, DC area, so I didn't see it. I also saw no advertising for this so-called "premiere". How can you call something a "premiere" when it's pre-empted in most of the country? Oh, sorry, we are talking about FOX.

Eh, I don't know how many people are going to read this--but I will never watch FOX again when "Futurama" is gone. If every fan did likewise, FOX would be screaming for Matt Groening's mercy. (Especially since most of FOX's new season has self-destructed so beautifully; they're circling the drain.)

Additional note: THIS is how unpopular "Futurama" actually is; as of this writing, the Season 2 DVD set ranks #30 in Amazon.co.uk's sales--long after the pre-order flurry.

this makes me furious i really want to talk to someone at fox and i just might do it at my lunch time... i do have a 1800 number for their main offices and im sure they have a customer care dept or something of the sort... i know it probably will not help but you never know

It sounds like we might need to go on another e-mail/letter writing crusade just to get Fox to show the episodes that haven't aired yet.

Who's got the addresses? Maybe post them here and at PEEL. Again.

I think this would be less futile than trying to convince them to make new episodes. These eps are just sitting there.

And for those of you that didn't get to see last week's episode, Fox ran a ten-second ad during the program that acknowledged Futurama's Emmy victory.

That, and a little prodding should help convince them to at least show what they've got.

well what i am doing first is writing a letter explaining the slow death of this great tv series, why it has the low ratings, and what isnt being done to get this show shown. I am going to send this to as many entertainment writers i can find. I know if Futurama was advertised and shown at a time slot that didnt cause 80% of its normal viewers not to see it, it would do very well and bring more viewers and money to fox... im angry and im baffled at why this show that costs fox 1/2 million dollars per episode to produce is not being shown and slowly being buried alive.

I was outraged when my FOX station did their little, "Don't need the drama" ad campain and started it at 7:30pm with a Simpson rerun. I don't even understand why anymore. I mean, if they are going to finish out the season like they said they're going to do, why are they totally ignoring the fact that it is even on?

And the emmy "clip" thing was horrid. I mean, seriously, it was basically this, "FOX congradulates Futurama on winning an Emmy for best animated program" compressed into two seconds of audio.

This isn't the only show getting the raw deal either. Firefly, FOX's sci-fi show, had tons of ad time in the beginning, and now I don't even know what time it comes on!

*sigh* Sorry for the rant, I just would love to know what is going through FOX's mind(s). It makes no sense to me, what so ever, that they'd be doing this...

i never got a chance to see the emmy "clip" and im sure going to mention it in my letter but as far as firefly i do see many commericals for the show through out the week its that its just in a dead night for tv watching.... Fridays

On Fox, which will pick up considerable steam among adults 18-49 once the nationals are released, the fifth season opener of Futurama scored a typical 5.5/9 at 7 p.m. followed by a repeat of The Simpsons (6.5/10), the regularly scheduled edition of The Simpsons at 8 p.m. (8.9/13), King of the Hill (7.5/11) and two episodes of Malcolm in the Middle (9 p.m. 6.7/9; 9:30 p.m. R 6.4/9). Compared to former time period occupant The X-Files on the year-ago Sunday (8.5/11 on Nov. 11, 2001), the double dose of Malcolm was off by an average of 25 percent.

The official results aren't nearly as bad as the original "overnight guess"

Do their ratings take into account the people who were watching tornado warnings and weather reports (me and a large part of the midwest/northeast)? That they're going into reruns after this week really ticks me off. How do you put on reruns when you've only shown two "new" episodes?

I just don't know what to say. Unfortunately I was on the road and forgot to record it so I'll have to wait I guess till Cartoon network plays it. Fox really is just run by a bunch of idiots. Tick was hilarious, Futurama is a freaking Emmy winning show, and now most of us don't even know when their good shows are on. Someone has got to wake up a start paying attention. No more eating contest either plleeeeaaaseee. Ok enough!!! Awesome site by the way.

I sent an email to my local FOX affiliate proclaiming my dispointment about the lack of Futurama. I also asked when they would air it. This was the response:

At this time, FOX has not advised us of the new date for the premiere of Futurama. I will keep your email, and if I do hear something, I will be happy to pass it on to you. I am sorry for the inconvenience. Thank you for writing!

Hopefully, complaining to my affiliate will get something done.

I heard on a different Futurama message site that after 'Jurassic Bark', there won't be any new episodes until February! Knowing Fox, it wouldn't surprise me. Please please please somebody tell me this isn't true?!

People, if you can't stick to what's written in the box here (no episode download stuff), stay away. We have this up for a reason. If you think about it, the reason probably isn't to make money for FOX. If we have to constantly check the comments and delete these things, we'll probably just ban some more IP ranges or disable the comments all together. We'd really rather keep the comments as it gives both us at CGEF and some people involved with the show a way to retrieve feedback.
