Yes, for all you poor people who have trouble watching the episode: This is definitely one not to be missed!!! If it's not shown, try get it of the net! I don't want to spoil anything, but you'll be seeing Leela and Amy in a rather unusual position, Bender not behaving as his usual self and all this tied in with a sad ending... If Matt and David continue like this we are looking at the raunchiest and possible the best Futurama season ever...

Uh.. I second that with vein. This one was just like the one episode with Fry's brother taking his lucky clover and the one where Leela finds her real parents. I have to say, thats why I like Futurama so much.

Ugh, I'll have to watch this one again, but I didn't like it much. First of all, it was sad, and I mean really freakin' sad. I like it when a show breaks away from its mold and does something "outside of the box", but this was a bit over the top. Second, although the Amy and Leela thing was a fun thing to watch ;) it seemed really tacked on to make a sad show a little less sad. Third, it was sad! I mean, geeze! This was just as sad as when Fry went after his seven-leaf clover. I give it a 2/5... Just too damn sad...

That was the saddest thing I have watched in a long time. Especially since the dog was absolutely SO cute! I mean, I was already almost in tears when Bender did what he did, but then after that...omg, :(

Man was this sad. I mean, that last scene was the worst. I don't cry at many things but this really got to me. The story is well written and heart-felt, but to depressing for such a good comedy.

This is possibly the best episode of Futurama I've ever seen. I just can't stop crying...that ending just killed me.

I never want to see another episode like this again. I cant believe how horribly depressing that ending was. As soon as that dog closed its eyes to die..I started to cry. I cant believe they ended that so well...but yet, so horribly. I loved it...it makes me want to see more shows like this. That poor dog...waited 12 years to see his friend and he never did. I want an episode where all that wasnt in vein. When the dog is happy again. Is everyone in agreement. It was so upsetting...I just want to cry again.

I dont think I have ever felt so emotional from anything animated in all my life. Ive never cried during the Simpsons, King of the Hill, Family Guy, or the critic. Such a wonderful episode but oh so sad. I am going to be thinking about this for some time. I still cannot believe what I just watched. Please oh please write in Seymour, in a happier tone, before the show is off the air. I beg you Matt Groening, please!

This was too sad.

I thought I would be the only one to admit to crying during the final scene. Man, I just sat there with my dog and sobbed! Personally, I'm glad they pushed the sadness envelope as far as they did. During the last week, my girlfriend adopted a stray thrown out of someone's car (it had been stowed in the trunk until tossed out), and a friend contacted me about 10 young pups dropped in a sealed box at a "kill" animal shelter. If it takes reaching us viewers on such a profound level of sadness to get us to see things from the eyes of those who trust, love and are loyal to us -- and to hopefully make a good difference in their lives, then so be it! I don't know that I can watch the ending again, but the entire episode was a rare gem! I declare this episode an Emmy nominee for the late, great Futurama!!!

I can't beleive how sad this episode was. I have never cried for something animated, and rarely for anything. I was crushed! It made me think of my dog who is approaching 14. G_d I hope Matt Groening writes another ending! It was wonderful yet so disturbing. I will never forget that episode. I am so depressed.

Wow, this one was way too depressing. The ending rivalled that of the ending to "The End of Evangelion"(anime) or the end of episode 24 in Evangelion. I remembered my old dog too and just started to cry like a baby. Very sad, but one which cannot be missed. I also got kinda pissed at the parents for not unthawing Fry when he was right there, DAMN IT!!! WHY!!!!!! Anyways, just remembering it brings back tears. 5/5

Horribly depressing. It seriously felt like my heart dropped 4 inches lower than it should be. I use the term "horribly" because as it was a good episode, it was too much. i dont watch futurama to feel that bad.

That was so sad. Holy sh*t. I'm glad I'm not the only one who cried, because I never cry! None of my idiot friends watch this show - so it's nice to know there are others who get it, and who feel the same way about it as I do. The show is so brilliant, and so funny, and yet it can be so powerful. Long live Futurama!

The Nibbler thing - could it be that he ordered the pizza? Maybe he traveled back in time to bring Fry to the future to fight the Brains! Very cool how they threw that in there.

Yeah, more from me. Lol, Otto, the first thing I did was hunt down that song from the end. And, omg, now I can't associate it w/anything but that ending. I'm gonna be in tears anytime I hear it. Yeah, the capsule says how the song is sung by many diff. artists, might I suggest taking a listen to Frank Sinatra's version. It's really good.

Haha, Don, I feel the exact same way. None of my idiot friends watch the show either, so I'm still gonna be sitting there in the morning during school crying and they're all gonna think I'm a freak. I just can't get this episode out of my head.

That was a wonderful episode I had nearly missed. I wasn't expecting to actually see it given the sports schedule and my location.

It was very good and very sad but I am confused by the folks here who say 'ending this way'. I know about the eps left over from last year that are unaired, but was that the finale tonight despite the continuing schedule?

Misty, I think "ending this way" means that the series will end at the end of this year (we still have like 14 episodes to go) with Seymour appearing for one wonderful, deeply sad episode.

I have a feeling he'll be back. Nibbler and the Nibblonians will be back to fight the Brains once again, and there's been a suggestion that Nibbler's ordering of a pizza in 1999 (in tonight's episode) was to set in motion Fry's cryogenic freezing... and his eventual ability to defeat the Brains. Perhaps Seymour will be brought back by the end of the show. Like all good comedy (in a theatrical sense), there must be some tragic elements which become resolved to produce the comedic ending (that is, reconciliation). My guess is that Seymour's plight is the tragic cliff-hanger, and his return is part of the comedic ending to the series.

Actually, the producers of Futurama purposely planned the final episode to give the series a happy ending . . . Fry is supposed to sell his soul to the devil in order to get the ability to tell Leela how he really feels about her. I personally think the dog story is done, they went for a tearjerker, much like the ending of the seven leaf clover episode.

thanks marc, found the depressing song thanks to the capsule guide - great website by the way. i worked on the futurama season 1 dvd set and might be working on season 3. all i can say is yes, more easter eggs.

I do have to hand it to the writers for showing that we tell ourselves stories about things we can't be sure of (Did that guy really love me? When my cat disappeared was he adopted by a happy family? etc.) But STILL I was so shocked at the depth of my emotions at that final scene. Couldn't they have thrown us a bone in some way? Couldn't Seymore have been adopted by a cute girl, but still thought of Fry? Man, it was brutal. Still such a great show.

Wow, thought I was being a sap for crying at that episode. Reminded me of a story I read about a dog who after his master died, faithfully remained by his grave for the rest of his years. Wouldn't leave;the man's wife had to bring food to him each day. I so hope they reunite Fry and Seymour, otherwise it's just too sad. I couldn't get that episode out of my head today.

I thought of the dog by the grave too. I think it was in Scottland or England. My brother is watching the episode now (on TiVo). Now he can walk around work tomorrow feeling like he has a knot in his stomach!

We spend our lives waiting for those things which have left us and which will never come again - a love, our health, childhood memories, etc. Factor into this that Futurama depicts a virtually godless universe (at least not a god which most of us would think of as God), the need to find companionship and care, and the difficulty that most sentient life forms have of letting go and moving on, and you've got a beautiful existential treatment. Futurama is overwhelmingly existential and postmodern in its focus, and its polemic is always to push at least one step beyond where other shows will go. I can't believe people some people gave this episode a low rating because it made them "too sad." That was the point! You should be thankful that something on the idiot box can make you feel such profound feelings, cause you reflect on your life and the world around you, and inspire you to do something different. THAT is great theater! Appreciate it for what it is, and that it is willing to stretch in new directions beyond brilliant silliness and biting pop culture references.

I no longer like Bender near as much as I use to. Dammit Bender if you didn't throw him in, Fry wouldn't have thought twice about it and have gotten his friend back. Jeese this was sadder then in Lasy episode. I did love the Amy and Leela part though, hopefully they will nock that up a notch in the next few episodes :) Now I may have to make a tribute to Seymour. Seymour actually looks a bit like my dog (Picolina) who is a border terrier gonna call her Seymour now though.

I didn't like this episode at all. Its all right for an episode to be depressing, but not if its only for the sake of making people sad. It didn't bother me when Maude died on the simpsons, becuase it wasn't just a pointless tear jerker.

There is a statue in a park in Japan (Osaka? Tokyo?) dedicated to a dog who met his master at the train station every day; after his master died without returning home, the dog waited for years at the station.

The statue looks just like the fossilized Seymour.

Coincidence? Pooh.

But...let's be reasonable here, folks. Unless I missed something in Farnsworth's description of the procedure, Fry wouldn't be getting his old dog back through cloning; he'd be getting a new dog--just as Cubert and Farnsworth are two seperate beings with two seperate souls, so would be Seymour and his clone.

Perhaps a more "up" ending would have been to show Fry and Bender picking out a hideous alien "puppy" at a Pet Stop in Little Neptune--someone who would proceed to make Nibbler's life a living hell ;) ? Wouldn't it be great to have another time-travel episode in which Fry gets his dog back?

My wife was so upset that she said she won't watch the show anymore. What the hell was up with that ending? I thought they were going to have his dog go off with someone else after a day or an hour or something. I agree, they need to have Fry end up cloning his dog in a future episode. What a downer after a funny episode.

HEY! I have already written down what I needed to say above. But, does anyone know a way to get into contact with someone who could possibly work in an episode where Seymour comes back to life. It would honestly mean a lot to me. For some reason this episode has left me horribly depressed with a feelig I cant shake...so getting a new episode when the dog dies happy will only make me happy. I don't know an email address but I definitely agree. I also was very bummed out after this episode. In fact, it is still bugging me a little bit. It's funny that a cartoon can evoke so much emotion. I never get bummed out like that over any show but there was something about Seymore that did it. BRING HIM BACK!

I think spending so much time telling Seymour's story from Seymour's perspective was a huge part of it. Dogs are very often mistreated, and more frequently misunderstood. I've often thought we would be made very sad indeed if we understood half of what they tell us when they are whining. Then again, I think we understand a lot of it but tune it out. I'm glad that episode reminded us of that fact.

What made me really sad was that there were troubles with the transmission in my area (Montreal) and because of that, I missed the last 1/3 of the episode. I missed tha sad ending!!!:(
