Futurama Ratings: Kif Pilot 3000

While the ratings for "Kif gets knocked up a notch" on FOX were on the lower average side with a 4.3/6 in Primetime Metered Market Ratings (King of the Hill 5.1/7, The Simpsons 8.9/12, King of the Hill again 7.3/10, Malcolm in the Middle 6.8/9 and Andy Richter Controls the Universe 4.7/7), Cartoon Network can be quite happy about their airing of "Space Pilot 3000" according to a Turner press release:

Good to hear! While I don't like to see Futurama falling the ratings, I'm glad Cartoon Network is getting something out of their purchase. It just goes to show that with a little bit of advertisement, Futurama still has plenty of life left in it.

how can most normal people ever know when Futurama is on when there is only one new episode per every 3 weeks? thats so rediculous... stupid jackasses at FOX. no wonder why no one is watching it. who knew it was on!? (aside from people like us who peruse these sites daily).

Damn right. But if Futurama gets some success on the cartoon network maybe, and only maybe, those losers at FOX will start thinking twice about what they're screwing up and give it a real chance. The time has come for them tplear about a little something called QUALITY. I mean "man vs beast"? That's the stupidest and the crapiest thing I've ever watched!

I expect low ratings for the rest of the season for the "new" episodes. As someone mentioned, you can't build much of an audience showing it every three weeks. Add to that the fact that the show usually isn't mentioned on FOX up until about a minute before is starts and you get few viewers. Most of the audience is probably fans like us who go looking for the showing times and channel surfers who fall on to it. Casual fans probably don't even know it is on. Great to hear the CN numbers. Even though I have the DVDs already I still tune in at 11:00 to watch the show. The amount of advertising they do for it is great.

A quote from Cartoon Network, note the last line. Goof from CN, were they fooled by FOX or do they know something we don't? I'm betting on the first option.

Futurama's ratings were down this week because it had to go against the playoff Football game that dominated the time slot.

Plus there's the total lack of promotion...
