NOOOOOOooooooo! I REALLY thought that there would be a new episode on the 2nd. That would keep to Fox's recent 'every 2 weeks' tradition. But a KOTH repeat! Huh? I think it's pretty obvious what Fox is trying to do, and it means we won't be seeing the Devils Playthings ep probably until 2004! It was meant to air May last year! I'm even starting to wonder if we'll get to see 'The Why of Fry' in this season. Even if they don't show one other episode this season, I pray that they show The Why of Fry.

This is just crazy. I'd much rather they just start showing the new ones at like 2:00am so we can at least record them and watch them. And to be completely honest, I don't understand why FOX is doing this. If they don't plan on ever showing the other eps, just freakin' say so and let that be the end of it. Why the hell are they showing, "Independence Day" in January anyway? And a "King of the Hill" repeat? Geeze!

For the love of god, Fox, either show the eps or totally get rid of the show -- this is just getting stupid now.

Does anybody know for sure if CN can't air the as of yet unaired episodes until Fox shows them? If Fox doesn't show the remaining episodes, I could care less, just as long as CN can air them. I can hardly bear the thought if its true that CN can't air the remaining season 4 eps until Fox does. It'd be holding CN back. Sure, count on Fox to stretch a single season into three. Fox can go to hell for all I care.

i dont understand how US TV works can someone explain ? IN the Uk if a series is bought its given a timeslot and is on at that time week after week until the run ends. What is pre empting exactly apart from the obvious meaning - no futurama

Pre-empting is when a show (or shows) is taken off the air for a week and replaced with 'special' programming. For example, when the Super Bowl is shown in 2 weeks, the 'regular' programming that would be there is replaced for the 'special' programming. 'Special' programming is usually sporting events or things of importance. "Independence Day" isn't one of them. (And, is it just me, or does Fox LOVE showing that movie? It's on like twice a year!)

Isn't it obvious that Futurama is absolutely better than the Simpsons is these days? (Not the classic Simpsons, I guess), but, the Simpsons sucks now. Sucks bad. And Futurama doesn't suck yet. So it should replace the Simpsons.

I was dissapointed to learn that Futurama will end at Season 5 (or Production Season 4) but know I'm starting to worry FOX won't even show the last episodes, damning them to the void of obscurity. CN probably can't show them till FOX does so worst case scenario is that if FOX don't show some episodes soon (and a bit more often) we will never see the last 5 or so episodes.

FOX and King of the Hill can go to hell.

If the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles show sucks, then I'll have no more reason to watch FOX, and I wont anymore. Futurama and Family Guy will be long gone, and FOX can burn in hell for all i'll care. (i'm 19... and yeah, i'll watch Ninja Turtles, i grew up with them!)

If Fox don't ever show the last few episodes, and if CN can't because Fox didn't. Surely we'd still evetually get to see them on DVD, wouldn't we? I'd hate for those episodes to never even get seen.

Well, I figure that CN would be able to show the remaining season 4 eps eventually, considering that they *paid* for the rights to show all 72 or so eps that there are. The question is, are they allowed to show them before Fox does? I sure hope so. If they are allowed to, Then I figure we'll be seeing the eps sometime in March or April. That'd be really cool!

And, you know, Fox still maintained in an email to me that Futurama hasn't been cancelled. It's their property and all, but they really have adopted a "f**k it" approach to this show - which is foolish as it still has a huge HUUUGE fanbase.

**Idea** - Sell off the rights to the show to a British channel (BBC, Channel 4) and let them continue to make it. There's gold in them there hills.......

How can a TV station actually consider re-runs of a very avarage show like King of the Hill more important than brand new episodes of the greatest animated show in history! Maybe the network doesn't understand Futurama (idiots) but considering that they pay half a milion per episode you'd think they would atleast show them once and get them out of the way!

This would never had happen in Norway (where I come from), if futurama is suposed to air, lets say 6PM, it would be 6PM not 7pm or 8pm... the only way the show had to be removed is if there were a important news cast

Fox hasn't aired a single episode of the new season here in Houston. Not one.

There was one week where a repeat of last season made it on the air, Love and Rocket, I think, but I've only been able to watch the show thanks to P2P file sharing. There's some really nice folks on there who get them to me. I finally got to watch an episode last week from my parent's home in Dallas, but even then I had to leave halfway through the episode!

Fine. Cancel Futurama, don't air the last episodes, run the Simpsons into the ground. The last episode of the simpsons is the last day I watch Fox. I swear by it. It's the only thing that drives me on to watch Fox at all. F*** their football coverage, F*** 24, F*** Joe Millionaire, F*** American Idol, and F*** every other show they've created and cancelled in a 5 week span.

The only good things that Fox has ever created:
The Simpsons, The Gary Shandling Show (even that was a lite version of the showtime version), Married with Children, Futurama, Adventures of Beans Baxter, and Family Guy.

Ya know, I was thinking about something today while watching football knowing I would not be able to watch a nice new Futurama afterwards -- maybe Fox is trying to do something clever (I know, I know... Hear me out).

Futurama ratings have been down for a while now. We all know it is due to the horrid time slot and random viewing of the show, but I don't think Fox sees it that way. I think they sold the rights to CN early (as in, before Fox showed all the eps) in hopes that CN would bring up the ratings by making a huge buzz about the show again (which they did do). Ok, so now CN has put tons of money promoting the show and are getting pretty decent returns. What if Fox, knowing they have all the unseen eps, are holding onto them as long as possible to see if CN can bring up Fox's ratings for the show as well.

If this was their plan, that's pretty clever. Save the goods while someone else promotes the show... Wait -- this is the same network that is airing Joe Millionaire... Nevermind.

I guess it is true. The president of the Fox network really is a monkey in a suit with below average brain power...

I did the math, and assuming that all Fox episodes are run according to the Episode Guide, and Cartoon Network continues playing 5 episodes a week sequentially, "The Devil's Hands Are Idle Playthings" will play on Fox on April 20, then again on Cartoon Network on April 21. How ironic.

However, my guess is Cartoon Network only has the rights to airing seasons 1-4, while Fox only has the rights to season 5 (judging by Fox only running season 5 reruns so far this year). Which probably means Cartoon Network will return to season 1 after "Where No Fan Has Gone Before".

FOX is really screwed up! They put Futurama on perminent(sp?) "hiatus," then they show every episode every ONCE in a while when they feel like it. The last time I checked the ratings on TheFutonCritic.com, the show was at a 2.9/5 share. Not good for a show that's better and funnier than The Simpsons. IMHO, The Simpsons is too damn old! Time to get rid of it.

Fox sucks now...... They used to be cool, when they first emerged. I think WB is doing all their edgy stuff now. Is there any chance of CN getting all the rights to Futurama? Cause maybe they could start production back up. Sure slow at first, but build. This is supposed to be their gem. BTW if CN shows 5 eps a week and they run out in a few weeks, are they just gonna start over? That seems like something that would drop ratings, also they need more Cowboy Bebop, I love that show!

Consider that superbowl is on ABC this year. Last week the evening game was on CBS. The timeslot going up against Superbowl is considered a complete loss, so they just throw junk programming in there. It's a similar situation that cable stations face around the holidays. They just put in a dozen 007 tapes or StarTrek episodes and take off for the weekend. Just about every show is reruns for the next week...

At least Fox considers Futurama slightly better than a throwaway show...Would you prefer them to air a new Futurama episode and see it get even worse ratings? (not like ratings matter anyway...)

Psh! FOX considers Futurama a failure because it isn't Simpsons In Outer Space, which is what they wanted/expected. There are two reasons we MIGHT see the rest of the episodes:

1. "Oliver Beene" (remember that?) was such a complete and utter disaster it couldn't be aired AT ALL, and

2. Even FOX can't ignore the third-party sales figures. TV ratings are like box-office tallies: they can be fudged or dismissed (for example, Sony claims Spider-Man lost money). But the Amazon.com ranking cannot be denied! It means money, and FOX wuvs money.

FOX knows a lot of people - people with much disposable income - love Futurama; they still want the show to go away. Maybe it's because Gail has a brain tumor. Maybe it's because Matt keyed Gail's car. Maybe Katey slapped Gail when Gail made a drunken pass at her. Maybe Gail's just a dumb b----. But FOX has climbed mountains to cut the legs out from under this show, without actually cancelling it (because Matt will be needed to save them again and again in the future).

Maybe we should reward their efforts by never watching FOX again. With crap like "Joe Millionare," that should be fairly easy.

Just in case anyone remains unconvinced: remember--this isn't the first time a long-delayed Futurama episode has been pre-empted by a King Of The Hill R-E-R-U-N.

The damn problem is damn simple and the damn solution even damn simpler. Put Futurama on a damn better time slot! How many times have the fans complained about it? There are 7 damn days in a damn week and 24 damn hours in a damn day, which makes 336 damn 30-minute slots a week (gross calculation). Just to say that the place in the damn weekly schedule isn't a problem considering the damn crap they show to fill the damn gaps. Any damn change would be an improvement, damn it!

Damn straight! It's hard to believe that Fox has such a problem with it. If they put in so much money, then why do they treat it so badly? I'm surprised that they would rather promote all their crap shows, like Joe Millionaire, than the extremely high-quality, costly ones like Futurama. I bet it only cost them $10.52 to make that that piece-of-Joe-Millionaire-crap show. The 7:30 p.m. Sunday time slot is always open. Why don't they just put it there, for cryin' out loud!

I`m simply speakless. FOX SUXX, as they can`t distinguish quality from worn out. the simpsons really are the less quality product (nothing against the old ones), but futurama already rocks the screen with high-quality drawings, 3d-renderings and fastidious jokes (and really cool caracters). All in all Futurama is much better than the "Simpsons in space" - idea would ever be. So far to the opinion of someone far away...
hope to see more than just the rest of the futurama shows available (the show must go on!).
