Can't get enough Futurama
In Color

Rumours, Rumours, Rumours...

Though I like to spread rumours myself, I feel like I have to work against a current one.
A week ago the Houston Chronicle announced "Fox fates smile on 'Simpsons,' bag 'Futurama'", saying "Futurama will not be back next year". While that might ultimately be the case, I have to assume that this is nothing but an interpretation of the Variety article we mentioned 9 days ago in which FOX's decision to renew The Simpsons and KotH was revealed - no mention of Futurama. This does NOT mean that there had been a decision against Futurama yet.
No news outlet closer to Hollywood than the Texan Houston Chronicle has picked up this story in regards to Futurama in over a week now. In fact, I talked to one of the more important people on the Futurama staff only 4 days ago and today again. NO confirmation of a final decision has been forwarded to them. There is a slight risk that FOX simply forgot about Futurama and will never tell, but the active "no" the Houston Chronicle reports did not yet happen.

They might not ever say anything, they might just let it slowly slip away.

At some point they'll have to tell the production companies involved if they should start hiring or not. The companies will ask them otherwise.

Looks like -mArc- runs this site now...

Ha ha, stop deluding yourself in thinking that there will be a production season 5. Nothing good will come of it except maybe an ulcer. Just enjoy the new episodes when they come up, rewatch the reruns on CartoonNetwook and kiss Futurama gently on the cheek and shed a tear as it rides off into the sunset.

As I said, ultimately this might be the case, but the story by HC is definitely not the final decision it claims to be. I don't want wrong rumours to spread (and this one already did spread to newsgroups/messageboards and some sites)

Maybe if FOX lets it go Cartoon Network will pick it up with new episodes. Especially seeing how well it is doing for them in the ratings. If I were with Cartoon Network, I'd be chomping at the bit to buy Futurama.

I agree that the show will one week simply not be on Fox anymore, now word whatsoever. I'm sure the Execs at Fox don't really feel too obligated to say "oh by the way that show that won an Emmy last year, well we're cancelling it." The fact that all last year they kept denying it. I just hope we get to see all the new ones before it's taken off Fox. Still it's really great that CN is doing so well and is putting some really great advertising behind it. At least we can smile at that!!!

Fox could give a lesser sh_t about Cartoon Network's success with Futurama because they can always crank out another Joe Millionaire or American Idol and get 3/4 of America watching.

*sigh*

I hope FOX just formally cancels Futurama and gives the remaining episodes to Cartoon Network to air. We're all sick of this KotH repeat bulls#it!

FOX doesn't deserve to air Futurama.

As long as it stays on the air I'll be happy. If FOX had any smarts, it would bump out King of the Hill rather than Futurama during Football season. That crap makes me very angry...Although I am quite happy to hear (and see) Futurama on Cartoon Network. Who knows, maybe they will take on the show and bring us new stuff if FOX turns its back on one of the funniest cartoons around! *fingers crossed*
