Can't get enough Futurama

Futurama Outlook on FOX or something

Sun 02nd: No Futurama (King of the Hill repeat)
Sun 09th: No Futurama (King of the Hill repeat)
Sun 16th: No Futurama (King of the Hill)

Quite the opposite of Cartoon Network's slogan applies here: See the Future. No more and no more and no more.

Well, looks like Fox reached a new low. I bet that in these past three weeks, CN has shown more Futurama than Fox has for the past year. Well, all we can hope for is that Fox shows the rest of the season four eps in the summer. Because if Fox stretches it into season 6, we'll have a REALLY big problem on our hands.

King of the hill sucks! king of the hill sucks! Fox sucks! king of the hill sucks! Fox sucks! and...Aw, what's the use? Things just get sucking more and more at Fox. By the way, did I say that knig of the hill sucks? Not sure.

King of the hill sucks! king of the hill sucks! and Fox REAL sucks!!

It's a conspiracy everyone. IT'S A CONSPIRACY!!!!

eeehhhh...wtf?
CutedgeFeb 1st 2003, 00:00
Maybe Fox will drag it out so they can use it to kill time during the summer season. It wouldn't surprise me because I think they did that to Family Guy.

Cutedge, you're right:

I really think they will do the same with Futurama.
Btw, Pro7 showed the last episode of season 4 today in Germany - so there are only 11 episodes of Futurama I haven't seen.

Fox looks like their preventing record high viewer rates for Futurama during Febuary sweeeps, because then it'll make them look stupid for cancelling it. Which they are, of course.
mAtboisLimFeb 1st 2003, 00:00
it'll b intersting to see how ratings for King of the Hill go in our dreaded timeslot
BLACKMANFeb 1st 2003, 00:00
Is KoTH 'big' over there or something? It's not that good a show...
KristiFeb 2nd 2003, 00:00
If by "over there" you mean America, then no, it's not wildly popular. Fox must really like it for some reason.
BU1141Feb 2nd 2003, 00:00
MUST KILL FOX..SOMEHOW.
BlahFeb 2nd 2003, 00:00
pfft maybe the crappy king of the hill is cheaper to make :)
KipDavenportFeb 2nd 2003, 00:00
Sure looks like it. The humor is dull and the animation is just plain crap.

Judging by the way they're airing the remaining episodes, looks like there could be a "season 7"

ricamortisFeb 2nd 2003, 00:00
well, i am confused...i have seen a few episode lists and the air dates on all stop at season 5, episode 5 "Kif Gets Knocked Up A Notch"...(although there is another 11 episodes)

anyhow, just think of how lucky us aussies are...i just watched season 3 episode 8 "That's Lobstertainment!" this week, and at the rate we are seeing the show here, it will be 3000 before we catch up to season 5...

I AM ASHAMED TO BE FROM THE SAME COUNTRY AS RUPERT MURDOCH!!!...

being a HUGE futurama (and amy wong) fan, i am very disappointed in the rate we are seeing the shows here (we get 2 episodes every 3 weeks or so)...and the fact that it has been cancelled...
WHAT AM I SUPPOSED TO DO NOW...(or, what am i supposed to do in about 3 years when the final episode finnaly comes down under!!!)

anyhow, are they going to air the remaining 11 episodes?...or have they axed it short of its run?

BrainSluggoFeb 2nd 2003, 00:00
Re #11: I'm doin' MY part. Just removed FOX from my channel line-up. If, by some miracle, "The Simpsons" starts NOT SUCKING again, I'll wait for the syndicated reruns. I won't even watch "Futurama"--assuming it ever appears again, which I doubt--just going to wait for the DVD.

Why watch anything on FOX, if crap prevails and quality is done away with? Why watch FOX at all?
LeahFeb 2nd 2003, 00:00
I hope Fox's suicidal mistake comes back to haunt them in a few years. They complain they haven't been getting good rating, but they're too stupid to figure out why.
LambiFeb 2nd 2003, 00:00
Here's a theory: FOX wants to prevent Cartoon Network from making even more profit out of Futurama. CN probably isn't allowed to air any new episodes not already aired by FOX. So, if FOX continues to not show Futurama for another, let's say, 1-2 months, CN will run out of episodes to show...
JamesFeb 2nd 2003, 00:00
"Hey look at me im a Fox Executive. That great show that we just bought, ur futur, uh futuresomthing, well, the ratings aren't quite as high as they used to be. Instead of giving it a bit more promotion, lets completly ignore it and hope that people just forget about it. Oh yeah and to make sure this happens lets give it a really crappy time slot so that it always gets prempted.
I suppose we could put some effort into turning it into a raging success, but this way is much easier. Even if people complain about our new stratagey, lets ignore them, no even better, lie to them, they can't do anything.
And even if the show is showered with critical acclaim around the world and wins emmys, lets just carry out this plan until the show is dead. Pretty good plan, eh? I think i've earned a raise".
RetajFeb 2nd 2003, 00:00
Fox is making great strides as a television network. They choose to fund great quality programming like Celebrity Boxing, American Idol, and shows with the title World's Blankiest Blank. Broadcast television's economic model is working so well by bringing us these quality shows. What a great reflection of the intelligence and sophistication of the average American television viewer.
KazzahdraneFeb 3rd 2003, 00:00
Yeah, but that's Americans for you. I'd say the average Futurama viewer ISN'T the average American television viewer. Stupid people don't get the jokes.
KnowoneFeb 3rd 2003, 00:00
I love the simpsons. But the most resent shows SUCK!!! Ok I get it their out of ideas, and its sad to watch, like an old prison loseing his mind Kill it Kill it now!!!! And give Futurama the 7:00 time slot. Its sill young and very much alive, CN can back that up. And I forgot FOX SUCKS!!!!!
WafflekingFeb 3rd 2003, 00:00
re #20. yeah im an american. and i think you summed it up extremely well.
MeatbagFeb 4th 2003, 00:00
My conspiracy theory is that Cohen made the last few episodes to
totalnerdukFeb 4th 2003, 00:00
Bastards. This means that we might not get the DVD's released in Europe if the episodes aren;t shown in America.

Fucking shitmunchers.
CutedgeFeb 5th 2003, 00:00
The idea that Fox isn't going to show Futurama because it's too adult is appalling. This is the network that has brought us Joe Millionaire, after all.
BoskoFeb 5th 2003, 00:00
Re: #23, that's what actually happened. They tried to have more 'adult' bits to get pushed down a bit... But since FOX never airs the episodes, it's not really working.
WonderdogFeb 5th 2003, 00:00
Futurama overall never really hit the highs that the Simpsons did at its best (though episodes like Roswell come very close), but there's no doubt that its better than the simpsons has been in the last 2 years, and is consistently "good." Its a shame that it never got the audience it deserved. But now they wont even show the damn last episodes so the people that do care about it can get some final goodies...

Not that this should surprise anyone though. Since when did quality mean longevity when it came to television? Damn shame that such great characters have to die when the simpsons (whom we've seen too much of...theyre just throwing whatever they can think of at us now) will go on for another shameful two years.

Futurama needed to be touted as the next generation of simpsons (and one day, passed the torch as Fox's Prime Sunday Cartoon), but because of all the cartoon/animated hype and barrage of shows a few years back (king of the hill, the PJs, etc), Futurama got piled up with those as "just another cartoon."

Oh well, gone on too long and need to stop before I talk about every reason this show deserves so much more than this "We'll show the rest of the episodes...whenever" crap. They've already broken us by saying they cancelled it...they at least give us mourners a chance to see the last pieces of the body before they bury it.

The Hypno-Toad commands it! All hail the hypno-toad. Clap. Clap. Clap.
ajservoFeb 6th 2003, 00:00
Well, to hell with all of you.

I can't wait for Fox to cancel it outright and get onto some really creative and original, non-explotative programming.

Like Millionaire Dating Service, where people are led to believe that they're on a date with a millionaire! And we get to watch the crap hit the fan!

Or American Boot Camp! Where pseudo military exercises are handed out to pretty boys and girls while they compete for top writer of marching songs! And the "evil" drill instructor laments on the poor quality of the march tune.

Bill's Brain will feature a guy who works at a TV network, who has multiple personalities running around in his head telling him which shows need to be cancelled and which stay on, and which get swept under a carpet till the public "forgets" about them. And it'll feature John Dimaggio!

Wait! Fox has already done all these shows!!! AGH! Now what to do? More Cops? More Americas most wanted? More World's most ___ ___?
Another reality series perhaps? 1 frame to fame? They could subliminally entertain us at that point. We could be programmed to think that we're watching quality entertainment, too.
im_a_homeownerFeb 6th 2003, 00:00
30 years ago there was a relitavly popular show that NBC treated very poory, moved it's time slot around, until it's 10pm friday night time slot led to ratings so low, that they cancelled it, despite a fairly substancial fan base, and even a couple pititions to keep it on the air. It was one of those obscure shows, i think it was called star -something, star trek? well we never heard from that again.

does anyone else think that Fox's treatment of Futurama will come back to bite them on the ass?
CyberKnightFeb 7th 2003, 00:00
I doubt you'd find anyone here who DOESN'T think that :).

It probably won't happen until The Simpsons goes off the air and FOX has no programming which anyone with half a brain will watch.
LeibanNov 6th 2005, 23:15
Well they finnaly got the season 4 box set in Canada! There has also been rumors of a Futurama movie. If there is one the Futurama sales will start getting high ratings AND FOX WILL GET THERE ASS'S KICKED!
