Very good episode. Little disappointed with younger-Bender's appearance considering he is only four years old and was always his size and even earlier a machine...oh well...glad to have some new episodes rolling anyway...
[-mArc-]Mar 31st 2003, 00:00
Bender being only four and built at current size was only what Bender told. It's not like he never lied ... Also, who knows what kind of effect chronotons have on machines ;)
For more episode discussion, also look at the message board PEEL linked to the left under "interactive".

Bender turned into a box of parts and then a disc containing his blueprints and you're complaining that he got SMALLER?
BrainSluggoMar 31st 2003, 00:00
It's also what Bender is programmed to believe. Uh-oh, whole 'nother story in there somewhere...

With chromatrons (or whatever they're called), anything is possible! "Futurama" isn't science-fiction; it's psuedoscience-fiction. It's all for yoks. Bender with braces? Just be glad he didn't get zits.

Remember: Apu's children have been conceived, born, and are clearly growing, while Bart and Lisa remain the same age and are going through the last day of school year after year, as well as multiple Christmas episodes--without noticing that they're still in the same grade.

I wish I could have seen the episode....The local FOX affiliate in Indianapolis substituted the new Futurama with a locally-produced "Severe Weather: Be Prepared" half hour show......I am in heck. To say I was outraged simply can't do outrage justice!

You didn't miss much. It was an okay episode. I liked how Leela's boobs were smaller when she was a teenager.

Now I want to see Jurasic Bark.
DanimalMar 31st 2003, 00:00
Jerry, I feel your pain. I missed it, too. My FOX affiliate actually showed it, but my VCR failed me. I've been wanting to see this one for weeks, since it kept getting pre-empted, and now I guess I'll have to wait for the Season 4 DVD set, which should arrive here in the U.S. sometime before the end of 2006, with any luck. Life is cruel.

"And that, my little one, is how papa gets freedom. Now, bonne nuit, bonne nuit to you all..."

That's what the gargoyle says at the end. But i don't get it... It's in Paris, and he is on top of a church. I think I may have seen a creature like that before on the Notre Dame? Maybe it's a reference to The Hunchback of the Notre Dame?
JamesMar 31st 2003, 00:00
Yeah after reading the reviews and looking at the frame grabs, that gargole ending seems kinda confusing. I haven't seen the episode yet but could somebody explain it so that i understand it when i see it on Sky One in two weeks.
KristiMar 31st 2003, 00:00
At the beginning of the ep the Professor searches for his lost gargoyle, Pazuzu. Then a bunch of stuff happens blah blah youth-asized blah blah. Then at the end of the episode Pazuzu saves the Professor's life so he asks him how he can repay him. The next scene is in Paris and Pazuzu tells another gargoyle that's how he got his freedom. Weird.
BrainSluggoMar 31st 2003, 00:00
Possible help (maybe just trivia): Pazuzu was the name of the demon that possessed Linda Blair in "The Exorcist" (but ONLY according to "Exorcist II: The Heretic," so take that as you will).

Additional questions:
(1) Hey, isn't France supposed to be non-existant in the 30th Century?
(2) Was a demonic gargoyle looming menacingly over Paris the reason finally FOX ran the ep? As their idea of some sort of "war" statement? Brr.
SilentGusedtobeTheSilentOMar 31st 2003, 00:00
Finally after what it seem to be 4 years, Fox deceided to air the show. To all of you, Futurama is a poke fun at sci-fi and at the same time honor it. Matt G. says that somewhere in the DVD extras. Great episode! Also would someone please turn that damn "Futurama Cancelled" banner off! It is really annoying everytime I visited this website.

On bender growing down:

Well, we know bender was assembled 4 years ago, but the aging tar obviously took off more years than that. Maybe the teachnology exists in the future where robot parts are not built but grown. And after about 10 years when the parts are mature they are assembled into a new robot. When Bender was youth-asized his parts began reverting to their less mature state. It's actually very interesting idea and might help explain why all robots seem to have different personalities. Or i could be high on something.....

On France:

France exists in the 30th century, (See the countdown to the year 3000 in the pilot episode). It's the French language that no longer exists. (A Clone of My Own)
FryLeela4everMar 31st 2003, 00:00
I loved this episode because it had more
Fry-and-Leela stuff. If you think me weird, I won't care. I've been a lot already before but I always think about Fry and Leela. They are sooo meant for each other!!
BrainSluggoApr 1st 2003, 00:00
The glance Leela and Fry exchange towards the end was a heart-melter for us shippies.

Thanks for the reminders about France/French, ZombieZoidbergJesus.

Actually i thought of that too, Zombi... #13
Robot parts being grown... u're not just on something
ScottOApr 1st 2003, 00:00
Are you sure Pazuzu didn't say 'Ba-Ba Booey to you all' at the end?
RorschachApr 1st 2003, 00:00
No he really said 'Bonne nuit to you all'. What's 'Ba-Ba Booey' supposed to mean anyway?
FrysGIRLApr 1st 2003, 00:00
Back when Billy West worked for Howard Stern, they made a prank call. He used a fake name Bob A. Booey. It turned out to be one of the most famous prank calls of all time.
ScottOApr 1st 2003, 00:00
Actually, Gary Dell'Abate, Howard Stern's producer used to collect anamation cells. One of the cells he paid an outrageous amount for was of Ba-Ba Louey (sp?). Gary didn't even know the name of the charachter and when asked about it, he said 'Ba-Ba Booey'. Ever since then the nickname stuck, with Billy being the biggest instigator. Oh, and I was just joking about Pazuzu saying that. ;-)
RorschachApr 1st 2003, 00:00
Hmm. So that's what Ba-Ba Booey means. Almost interesting.
