Can't get enough Futurama
In Color

Sunday 7PM ratings

Metered market Nielsen ratings for Sunday are in and I thought I'd just let you know even though no Futurama was on.
The 7-7:30PM slot was dominated by a 11.0/19 PGA Masters overrun on CBS, followed by a 5.8/10 Dateline half-hour on NBC. ABC's Dr. Dolittle repeat finished with 4.5/7 average between 7 and 9PM. FOX's Futurama replacement "King of the Hill" episode (repeat) came in fourth with a low 3.4/6 rating.

This compares to:
  • Futurama - The Why of Fry 3.8/6
  • Futurama - Teenage Mutant Leela's Hurdles 4.3/7

Reading ratings: Generally higher = better. First number indicates how many people watched, second tells what percentage of the watching people that is. Advertisers like the first number better, but these highly depend on the time slot as less people watch TV during the nights/dinner time etc.

PS: FOX new series The Pitts slumped even more. Down to a 4.3/6 after 5.7/8 and 5.1/7 the weeks before.
    GreggApr 14th 2003, 00:00
So does this mean the Pitts will run for another 12 series? Probably....
    whiskersApr 14th 2003, 00:00
Actually The Pitts has been cancelled, and im sure the 10 people who actually watched the show and rigged the ratings boxes will be very disappointed to hear that.
    RorschachApr 14th 2003, 00:00
Man! I never though golf could attract so much vewrs, it's so boring to watch!
    Neo69Apr 14th 2003, 00:00
futurama didn't get any advertising, yet it still scored higher

This proves even more that Fox has no business sense whatsoever. On top of that, after the reality series craze wears off (yes, it will eventually), Fox will have absolutely nothing to show itself for. The new series that they keep putting out, such as The Pitts, keep failing. Seems to me Fox is on a suicide mission. But they have only themselves to blame.

This Sunday night ratings report makes me smile. ;) Take that Fox, you ungrateful bastards!

On the side, Fox IS on a suicide mission. No one knows what the hell they are doing anymore.

    HAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!! STUPID FOX! STUPID FOX!!
(But I'm extremely glad that Futurama got higher ratings than King of the Hill....
Futurama CAN'T get beaten by a really gay-ass show!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
I hope the following shows will be cancelled:

    1. King of the Hill

    2. The Pitts

    3. Oliver Beene(this show is really gay, people! Well, maybe not for those people who grew up in the 60's and are in nostalgia)
    JamesDeanApr 14th 2003, 00:00
Augh, King of the Hill sucks so hard. It reminds me of Archie comics. Not funny, not endearing, not interesting, but its mildly entertaining. You can sit and watch the show and at the end of it, you remember nothing about it.
    futurama-ramaApr 14th 2003, 00:00
since the cancellation of futurama, ive gone into an ANTI-FOX stated, i watch nothing on FOX, including the simpsons...

anyway im glad that stupid show the Pitts and that even stupider show Oliver Beene gets cancelled quickly and make FOX realize they made a horrible mistake. King of the hill can die also.

    DEATH to Oliver Beene!
    DEATh to the Pitts!
Death to king of the hill!
    death to smootchie(lol)!
    RorschachApr 15th 2003, 00:00
Damn right! Though I doubt this would make Fox stop making more stupid decisions in the future. Their history is there to prove it.
    GreggApr 15th 2003, 00:00
Ooh, it's gonna be sweet to see Fucxs finally get their comeuppance when people switch off reality shows and they've got no proper entertainment to give viewers.

    Mwahahahahaha!!!

The "King of the Hill" vs. Futurama leaves me speechless. While King is somewhat entertaining, it doesn't push any creative boundries for story or animation (the animation I paticularly dislike). Why Fox would not show Futurama, but do a rerun of King I'll never know. Why not just show a Futurama rerun? If ratings are so bad, how about keeping the Futurama faithful happy for a couple more months. At least then we may tune in for new shows. Now, the only thing on Fox I watch is Simpsons. Haven't wasted my time on Beene or The Pitts.

    DIE THE PITTS!!!!!!!!!

    DIE OLIVER BEENE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    DIE KING OF THE HILL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    BUT LONG LIVE FUTURAMA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    JoeAnybodyApr 15th 2003, 00:00
I agree with all of you again, but as much as I want a show to be cancelled, so Futurama will air, your anger and hostility is towards the FOX network, not the TV shows they air. You all want "Oliver Beene" and "KotH" and "The Pitts" to be cancelled, but you should all realize that hundreds of people pour their heart and soul into these shows, to have them become successful, and I can't begin to explain how disrespectful this is. You know what they say, "Don't hate the player (TV shows), hate the game (FOX)."
    alittlegirlApr 15th 2003, 00:00
I don't think people are being disrespectful(because I love Oliver Beene...but maybe not the Pitts), they're just being really angry with FOX that other shows just gets them going. But really, King of the Hill should get cancelled. That stupid cartoon doesn't even look like it had people's "heart and soul" into it. The show is half made. Put it back where it came from!
    JoeAnybodyApr 16th 2003, 00:00
Unless you actually go to the studio where KotH is made, and see everyone doing a half-assed job, then you have no right to criticize it. I know where you, and everyone else is coming from. "Dark Angel" was canceled last year, in favor of "Firefly", and I absolutely wanted "Firefly" to be canceled... but after watching it, I actually liked it. I think you want to hate KotH, but never really watched it, without a biased opinion, towards Futurama.
    RorschachApr 17th 2003, 00:00
But you said it yourself Joe: "Don't hate the player, hate the game." I have nothing against all those who are working on the production of KotH (player), I just don't like the show (game)at all. I've seen many episodes both in the original form and in the translated form (translated in Quebec, the Quebec way) and let me tell you that the translation is even worst than the original.

But my point is this. It's true that those people work hard to make a living out of this show, but in the end of the line, it's us the customers (viewers) that provide the money they make out of their production. And as a customer, I have the righ to criticize when I don't like what I see. That's the laww of bisuness: we like it or we don't.
    JamesApr 17th 2003, 00:00
Over the years I have casualy watched King of the Hill from time to time. I remember seeing the early ones (when Hank thinks his Korian neighbours have cooked his dog). I've always enjoyed them, i mean i don't record them or anything, i,ve probably only seen a few dozen episodes in total. Hank and his mates are actually very funny and likable characters, although i'm not too keen on Bobby and Hanks wife(Peggy?) Anyway my point is this, uh, wait i think i have a point. Oh yeah, Don't hate other shows just because they are in Futurama's time slot, it's Fox who are to blame not the shows themselves.
I just want people to realise that i am in NO WAY implying that King of the Hill is as good as Futurama. I'm just saying it's pretty entertaining, and people should stop slagging it off for no reason, it's called sour grapes!
    thisiscrapApr 18th 2003, 00:00
fox sux why did they cancel FUTURAMA IT IS THE BEST SHOW
    alittlegirlApr 20th 2003, 00:00
(to #17) Excuse me, but I have watched King of the Hill from the beginning and I hated it. And the way I said that everyone who works on that redneck show is doing a half-assed job, that's from my point of view.

(to #19) If I can remember just right, I don't think Hank's neighbors were Koreans. They were Laotians or Thailanders...
