Can't get enough Futurama

FOX Emmy Ad Including Futurama

With the 55th Primetime Emmy nominations being announced on the 17th of this month, networks & production companies are busy printing "for your consideration" ads. While I didn't see one specifically for Futurama (anyone?), FOX put out a combined front page ad on The Daily Variety of June 5th which includes Futurama among 15 other shows. The irony is that it touts the FOX-logo as a "Proof of Quality" when half the shows on display are either cancelled or went through severe remodelling. Now, I liked some of these shows (eg, Futurama), but why'd they cancel quality?
Anyway... A second Emmy for Futuarma in the 'Outstanding Animated Program (<1 h)' category after winning it last year seems hard to imagine. Still, lets hope for some nominations.

well if they submitted Jurassic Bark for the Emmy i think it should win... i remember reading that DXC mentioned submitting that episode *crosses fingers*

Yea, I remember hearing that too about Jurassic Bark being submitted. I can almost bet that Futurama will get some nominations this year. No matter that it is cancelled it is still a good show and even with the remaining stuff they have been showing there is outstanding work in there. Jurassic Bark is one and I even think the Sting should be considered as one of the top shows of the season.
I don't know if the Why of Fry could be considered one of the best though as it is definitely one that you have to have a good working knowledge of Futurama to really get the significance of it.

its nice but i dont think that futurma is gonna win
JamesJul 8th 2003, 00:00
I can easily see Futurama winning, franky they have a good chance with pretty much any episode. Also, since the last few episodes will be broadcast after the nominations are announced, does that mean Futurama could also be in the running for next years awards?
That would be so funny, if Futurama just went on and on winning awards long after it was cancelled. Just to remind Fox how much they suck over and over.

Well, this ad is not by the FOX network but by 20th Century FOX, the production company. That's why there's plenty of shows from other networks on there, too. Not their fault the networks don't give a crap about quality...

(to #2) I don't agree with you for "The Why of Fry." But I do agree with you for "The Sting". That episode is one of my super favorites. And I'm not just saying because I'm a F/L shipper; that episode really was one of the best.
RockoJul 8th 2003, 00:00
i hope it will when. Cause when it does I will LAUGH in Fox's ugly face for about 5 hours. It will go and show that they cancelled one of the greatest shows on the television. Its now on 3 different networks!! thats how great it is.
ScruffyJul 8th 2003, 00:00
If it wins it will just fub in how bad fox has hurt its self.
IbboJul 9th 2003, 00:00
Yeah, The Sting was really good. It was a very good script and a really good episode!
Futurama_HilJul 9th 2003, 00:00
I agree with James (#5) and Rocko (#8). I will also laugh in theior faces! Lately I've been thinking (something I don't do often),and with TBS nad CN showing reruns that since more companies are showing it, it's getting more audiences. What if it got so popular that Fox thinks it's good to buy more episodes? It's a big longshot, but hey, it's possible.

Yeah, I think The Sting, Jurassic Bark, and even TWOF could win easily, but that doesn't mean they will.
HawkingHole4001Jul 9th 2003, 00:00
The Sting and The Why Of Fry aired... THIS YEAR. therefore those episodes would be considered NEXT YEAR... I think.
I've heard alot of buzz around Jurassic Bark, it seems like a good episode, I'll get to see it when Cartoon Network gets the rights to it.
Possible submissions for this year's Emmys...

Jurassic Bark
Any episode that aired in the 01-02 season, I believe.

Also, maybe FOX will seperate the Crap from the Entertainment when they notice that Futurama has won 1 (maybe 2) Emmys, A WGA award, a few Annies, hundreds of fansites dedicated to it, 2 message boards, it's own group on Google... Ect, ect.

If Futurama and other shows that were on the Fox network win some Emmys, then maybe Gail Berman and others might just get the "pink" slips. They screw up the network, well, they did more damage than previous idiots before. But it probably won't matter if they got fired because the next bunch of idiots would further run Fox network into the deep dark hole they dug for themselves.

Let's just hope that if Futurama does get to make more episodes, it wouldn't be with the idiots from the Fox network.

i aint really read many of these comments the sting is a gr8 but i fink the why of fry is better.Marc hav u had any more info on the new box set if u hav e-mail me :D
grunka_lunkaJul 9th 2003, 00:00
the sting and twof were both great, but to a committee of people who may have not seen futurama as much, jurassic bark would definitely look best. it was such a good blend of humor and drama, and shows the wit and heart that makes the show great.

Sorry, I'm pissed at a lot of these network execs so please allow me to be somewhat unprofessional for a change and vent.

F*CK you Howard (probably a PARADISE HOTEL fan) and F*CK Gail Bermann.

I'm starting to think that those of use who appreciate sharp, witty, comedy with heart are becoming a dying breed.

FOR RUPERT'S CONSIDERATION... FIRE GAIL BERMAN

Howard/Ren I feel sorry for you. You are a guy that goes to a website for a show you don't like, post a message, and agree with yourself under a different name. You have way too much spare time on your hands my friend. Maybe if you were a tad bit nicer (and slightly more intelligent) you would have a social life and wouldn't have to resort to being a troll to get people to speak to you.
I assume you must be a fan of one of the other nominees. Let me explain to you how I feel about the other nominees: The Simpsons- Liked the old episodes but the new ones are like the scum at bottom of a children's pool. South Park- I like it but I doubt it'll win. King of the Hill- I don't watch it so I'm not sure.
You go bye now.
DrMarvinMonroeJul 9th 2003, 00:00
#21. I agree with you.

BUT... I will always be a die hard SIMPSONS fan (just like I am a die hard FUTURAMA, KING OF THE HILL fan.... SIMPSONS Season 14 was great, although I will admit the show has lost the heart it had before season 7) no matter how bad they get (as long as they do not stoop to the low of the new REN & STIMPY shows).

I LOVE THE SIMPSONS, FUTURAMA, FAMILY GUY, KoTH.... Compared to most [new] comedies on TV all these show have true heart.

howard #16, u suck. quit posting on these comment thingys if u hate Futurama. Your opinions don't matter because u r 1 out of 100 people on this sit e who post and like it. Go #@$% yourself.

BTW, i have seen that crap on spike tv or tnn or whatever the hell u wannt to call it. Its crap. Tnn is crap. Its all a load of crap. TNN should stop trying to be a mini [adult swim] and do something else.

And of course i hope Futurama wins an emmy for Jurrasic Bark or whatever episode. Doesn't matter. Just want to see it win and FOX's awe dropping faces!!
RockoJul 10th 2003, 00:00

Please stop feeding the troll.

(eg, if someone comes here just to say "Futurama sucks", don't reply. The post will be gone at some point as it had no point. Once that happened, your answering posts look stupid.)
