Can't get enough Futurama

Futurama scoring an A+ in CA

Recently, California fan Alexandra (Randi) wrote a school persuasive essay about the way FOX treats Futurama, and low and behold, she got an A+ on the report. I plan on sending this essay to some FOX executives and Futurama staffers soon, because I think the report is very well done, and could open the eyes of some blinded people at FOX. Here's a tid-bit of Espousing a Future for Futurama :
The humor, the plot twists, the characters! You can't believe a show like this has been on the air for years and you've never heard of it! As you stare blankly into the set, you become more and more engrossed by the second. Just before your eyes are allowed to view the exciting conclusion, static can be heard as wavy lines appear throughout the screen. You bang the television-no use-the show is gone and can't be brought back.

Wow. This is one persuasive essay. This could win Futurama the emmy alone! Ha! But seriously, this could persuade any normal person, but I doubt it has the magic needed to persuade the dark and evil hearts of a FOX exec.

Randi, my oh my that was excellent! you are truly a Futurama Fan!!!! Hopefully FOX will learn its stupid ways and fix things! I mean I convince myself that its not cancelled and there is still a chance, because i dont know how ill be able to take it once its gone. Hey, everybody! If this does make FOX come to their senses, maybe they could use some of my ideas for some episodes!

I'm meant to be studying for my english exam tomorrow. But this will probably help more. What a great composure. Reading such a strong argumental essay as that, and better yet about something I love, will certainly get my essay writing mode for tomorrow.

Nice thought, but FOX wants the audience that received Fs on their essays.
FangsJul 23rd 2003, 00:00
Loved the essay. And your right. The majority of the public WOULD receive F's on their essays, and that is why Fox airs shows to their liking. Cuz there's more of them. Bah. I'll say we storm the Fox building and "kill all humans" in there. That would teach them! btw..."Robotic presidents"? I don't remember a Futurama show which featured that. I remember one where at the end the prez's head sat on top of a big Mech, but I would call that a cyborg (a fusion of flesh and machine!) ...hehe. You agree?
ImnotgivingmynametoacompuJul 23rd 2003, 00:00
This quote from the USA Today article should be enough to bring anyone to tears

but he (matt greoning) wishes the show could have continued: "We had so many more stories we were eager to tell."
JohnCJul 23rd 2003, 00:00
I agree; fantastic essay! I think that even though Futurama's running its last episodes, there's still hope. I mean, think about it. Groening really supports the show, and other networks seem more than enthusiastic about airing it, so who's to say they can't start over again?! It would be like a sequel to the original, with Fry and Leela married (Leela Fry Turanga? Turanga Fry Leela?), but Zoidberg still pathetic and without a medical degree!
ClampsJul 23rd 2003, 00:00
Turanga Fry...LOL!
KazzahdraneJul 23rd 2003, 00:00
It's a nice change to read a persuasive essay about a subject the writer feels so strongly about. A very concise, well-written piece of work, obviously you are very proud of your A+, and rightly so, but I hope you are also proud of the way you have expressed the feelings of so many Futurama fans.
JamesJul 23rd 2003, 00:00
Excellent work Randi, it's like you've taken all of our "Fuck you Fox!", and "Burn in hell" comments, and composed them together into a eloquent, passionate, and compelling read. Well done. In fact i'd give it an A+, oh someone beat me to it.
RandiJul 23rd 2003, 00:00
hey guys! thank you for all the supportive comments! you have really cheered me up. i am trying to get this sent to groening or cohen themselves (and fox) because i really want them to know how strongly the public feels. feel free to email me or visit me in the #futuramachat sometime--i'm always open for more comments and suggestions. thanx! :)

~Randi

p.s. i finished writing this essay at arounf 4 am that morning (yes i am a procrastinator and i wanted my paper to be near-perfect!)

Alexandra Randi, I congratulate you on your well discussed, flowing and informative essay, perhaps you should show your teacher the response you have recieved, from all over the world.
Sincerly. Luke, aged 16, devon, england.
JERJul 23rd 2003, 00:00
Fox should air Matt groenigs cartoons Including futurama It won a emmy and cheaper to make then simpsons.
NonameJul 23rd 2003, 00:00
I Think This essay is good. Fox Really has bad shows. Family guy and futurama should be brought back. Late night that they beat more Talkshows on Cartoon network and its at 11:00 to 12:00 Pm
RandiJul 23rd 2003, 00:00
oh yeah that was something else i wanted to clear up. my last name isn't Randi, its just a nickname i have. my real first name is Alexandra, but you can call me either. I'm also futurefreak at PEEL. :D
MattJul 23rd 2003, 00:00
Randi... this was a great essay... it's great that you finally found it and everything... And Gunderson only gave you a 99 out of 100.... truly deserved a 199 out of 100.... yeah... stupid Gunderson.

Anyway... this was a extensively comprehensive, thorough, and well written essay that touched the hearts and minds of all despairing Futurama Fans... and you should be thoroughly commended for that. :D
KillAllHumansJul 23rd 2003, 00:00
Great essay, Randi. I also agree, there's still hope, and this essay is one of the things that strenghtens such hope. Keep up the good work!
ThankyouimadethemmyselfJul 23rd 2003, 00:00
What up! Just the little I read about this essay I knew what was up. No wonder she got an A+. I say we all get to fox and shove that essay in their face and tell the to bring Futurama back .
WHO'S WITH ME!
FryluverJul 23rd 2003, 00:00
I'M WITH YOU! And Randi, that essay was superb. It's good to see that you really care about Futurama, so much as to base a well written essay on it. Good job.
NeroJul 23rd 2003, 00:00
That was a great essay. Well worth the A+. Really goes through all the important points about Futurama's treatment by FOX and why it deserves to continue.. I give it an A+++!
mouse_clickerJul 23rd 2003, 00:00
Holy crap. O_O If you DO get that sent to FOX execs, Randi, and they DON'T cry their eyes out, realizing what harm they've done to their ever so loyal fans, they are the most evil, heartless beings on the planet, nay, the universe! I bet Groening and Cohen will frame it, too- I know I would if I were them.

Hehe- I bet none of your classmates had any idea what you were talking about behind words like FOX, Futurama, and Joe Millionaire. I never get tired of watching someone in an English class read some report about videogames or something similar and the rest of the class off in La La Land, completely lost in what the reader is saying.
jeffJul 23rd 2003, 00:00
could you be any more in love with her, jon? ::whip noise:: loser!!!
SXJul 24th 2003, 00:00
This essay is not likely to change the Fox executives minds. They already hate the show from the very beginning. Beside Futurama would be better off on a different network. Granted, it won't be a network you can just pick up without having cable connections but at least Futurama won't have to put up with their crap.

Even it does change their minds, the show would still take about two years to be put together again and ready to air new episodes. Then they will have to put up with Fox's stupid censor notes again.
MargaritaJul 24th 2003, 00:00
Awesome essay, Randi!!! :D It's just perfect, if you ask me ^^
mouse_clickerJul 24th 2003, 00:00
The problem is, if Futurama ever is revived ala Family Guy after the first season it would *have* to be by a network- cable stations just don't make enough money to support the production costs of shows like Futurama (I believe each episodes costs almost $500,000)- Cartoon Network's already thought about it. The best we can hope for now is for FOX to listen to the man that basically made them what they are today and hope everything goes great with that Futurama trilogy.
TurpsJul 24th 2003, 00:00
Dunno why everyone thinks this is so good, it's barely anything groundbreaking.

I think your teacher is a bad speller too for an A+.

T.
RyanJul 24th 2003, 00:00
According to Adult Swim an episode of Futurama on average costs in the 1.3 million ball park
tJul 28th 2003, 00:00
Too many bad adjectives. Fascinating!
Futurama_HilJul 30th 2003, 00:00
wow, randi, great essay. i hope you can get it to matt or fox or someone. it must be fun to write an essay on your favorite show.
SlurmGuySep 4th 2003, 00:00
Great essay. Like everyone else said, very persuasive. Hopefully you'll be able to get this to FOX and they can realize what kind of bastards they are.
THOSE BASTARDS!
