For a change, the author seems to know what he's talking about and even cites multiple episodes. Looks like there are fans among the AP staffers, too.

Might have gotten hooked by the DVD set. Or it was just hte first thing that sprang to mind.

First season has gotten the most airtime(it was on FOX back when it was actually promoted, plus all of the Cartoon Network/TBS stuff, plus it's the only DVD set). Besides, he referenced a few season 2 episodes--evil robot Santa, and meaningless elections.

Good job to whoever wrote that.

Re James Dean's observation, I had numerous examples I wanted to include from throughout the show's run. Only by chance did the particular citations that fit into the flow of the column mostly come from Season 1. Gotta go. I need another Slurm.

What is wrong with fox. The AP likes Futurama, cable vewiers like Futurama, the show is great. Fox just takes it off the air and puts on bad reality shows. I hope Fox pays for this tragity.

Wow. This buy couldnt be more right. why is futurama always regarded as second to the simpsons? Is it because it was second made? Fewer episodes? Non- yellow people?

Maybe it didn't start out like the simpsons. The simpsons was first aired on the Tracy Ulman Show, which was pretty popular.

Those stupid fox a******s are afraid of something new. as Fry said "they're scared of our raw power!"
What are they scared of? "Oh dear this looks a bit different from the mediocre show that we already have." If they didn't have their heads so far up each others a***s they would see what a great show this is. It will be a tragic demise for futurama, and we will al mourn deeply. The sad truth is that futurama, the best show on tv, ever, is really 1000 years ahead of its time and only the itelligent people among us can see that.

I live in Britain so there are a few more episodes left to play (2 i think).I have the first 3 seasons on dvd and watch them all the time, i'm a huge simpsons fan but i like futurama more. Fox are pretty supid to dump Futurama. Banzai is, um....interesting, but it won't take off in america, i can know that. (The yanks just won't understand the strange british humour, or know any of the 'celebrity' guests)
Bring back Futurama!

Anyone in the public eye (such as an assoc. press reporter) who speaks highly of Futurama and its many splendors is okay with me. The show needs and deserves the media attention FOX refused to give it in its youth, and even if it takes a year or two to get this great piece of art back on the air, we can all do our best to support those who support the show that makes so many of us smile.
