A "Long Shot" is still a chance!!!

It may be a "long shot", but just in this past month we've seen a game released, a new calander released, and even a new poster released. And there's still the series of I-Men to be released. Futurama aint dead, it's just having a nap.

Maybe now the guys at FOX realize the error they made, by giving Futurama low promotion and sticking it where the NFL can take over. I mean, it's on buses and subways, so maybe they'll take it back for a second chance. I, for one, do not have cable or satellite, so all I have left are the DVD's. Still, it would be nice to have Futurama in syndication instead of replaced by fake Japanese stereotypes and a stale, wrung-dry Simpsons. It is still popular, what with the DVD's, the calendar, the action figures, and the VIDEO GAME... I'm crossing my fingers and hoping that maybe... just maybe... there's a remote chance of another season. I sure hope FOX brings it back--and to a DECENT time slot-- or they're pending for a bending.

anymore episodes would be great, si as said a long shot is a chance. i have the final season on dvd ordered already, not sure whether to be happy to have every episode or sad that a ledgend is coming to an end.

If Cohen says that there's a chance, that's enough to convice me that the show isn't dead yet. It would only take brainless morons (ie. Fox) not to face the facts:
- Award-winnig show.
- Merchandise, DVD's, Comics that are selling well.
- A show has to be damn good to get its own comics series.
- Reruns that get good ratings.
- And the mastermind behind it who is none other than Matt Groening, the undiputed #1 in the cartoon industry.

It's all in Futurama's favor. I suppose that it's now up to us, the fans, to make our voice heard so that they understand once and for all that a return of that show is necessary.

when David says there is a slight chance, that's enough to know there IS a slight chance. And that's what we need. My dad told me he say signs for it when he goes into the subway for work. I wish i could've seen them thou!

It couldn't hurt to post a new petition and the CN contacty info. Perhaps CN will actually listen to the desires of its fans.

that writer is really good, he had a 2nd article in that day's paper that was really funny... while i'd love futurama to continue more than most people, i dont know if its financially viable, especially on CN. didn't the prez of CN even say so?
FOX clearly hates it and they won't have anything to do with it.

#8 from what I understand it is mainly a money issue with CN. The Adult Swim guys would love to purchase new episodes of Futurama, but they simply don't have the resources that FOX does.

maby it will come back to life like a zombie (wait zombies are undead so does that count) maby well be able to wach it on upn in in like 20 years. i did however hear advertisements on the radio for it and CN has moved it to a new time spot, swiched it with Family guy also TBS is showing it so it isnt dead yet. just needs life support.

any shot is a good shot, if money is the only problem with CN then things may be looking up since they actually like Futurama. Futurama LIVES!

What sucks is even if Cartoon Network comes up with the money to fund new Futurama episodes, FOX actually still has a say in the matter. FOX owns the show, and if they have no interest in continuing the show, it can't happen unless Cartoon Network wrestles the rights to the show away from FOX. and that's usually an EXTREMELY difficult task to do. one of the factors of 3rd party shows that sucks. the property owner has to want to continue the show, AND they can only air the episodes for a limited amount of time. probably why 3rd party shows are being used less and less nowadays.

even if fox agrees and cartoon network picks it up I think two more seasons would be plenty otherwise it will become stale.

I don't think it's coming back on Cartoon Network as the primary vehicle. CN is owned by Time Warner, as part of Turner Broadcasting. The fact that Futurama is also on TBS (which is much larger than CN) tells me that there's a shot that new episodes would be produced for TBS or TNT, then re-aired on CN. I think they're seeing whether the Futurama ratings success on CN can be duplicated on TBS right now. If so, Futurama may have a new life beyond this year. But it's going to cost Turner Broadcasting/Time Warner plenty to buy the rights to make new episodes -- they're going to continue to stick it to Matt Groening and try to wring every drop of money out of it they can. FOX SUX!!!

has anyone contacted the FOX network directly? i mean, i know one voice isn't much, but if everyone says something, at least we're trying. does anyone know where to contact and complain?

But in my experience all Futurama-related questions are ignored, at least my 30+ emails never recieved an answer.

I sent a few before McSeason 5 started, telling them that I knew the episodes weren't new at all, and still got the standard response of "BRAND NEW FUTURAMA!" FOX refuse to even accept that the show even exists these days, they just ignore it and hope we'll go away and stop bothering them.

You'd think tv execs were brain dead. The reason the show is a success on the Cartoon Network is because they show it at a decent time slot. 7 eastern means midwest fans have to make it home and start watching at 6 -- when everyone's either out or eating. Doesn't take a lot of intelligence to figure that a prime time show needs a reasonably late time slot. The fact that cable channels have lower expectations may contribute, but a little common sense goes a long way.

ya know its sad, they cancelled 2 of the 4 shows ( family guy, futurama ) and the two shows left are the simpsons and conan obrien, and simpsons needs to get a little better writing, or its gonna keep goin down hill
personally, id like both futurama and family guy to come back on tv, their both great shows, sadly fox doesnt see this, id take it to another local network thats desperate on ratings, and air both those shows there,
both futurama and family guy get great amounts of viewings on CN, all we need is a little boost from someone or something big, and we may have atleast one of these shows back hopefully,
i think groening since he has a crap load of money im sure, should lend some to cartoon network to give them a little start,
and i dont think the show would get stale in two years, simpsons to some has gotten stale, and although i do think its gone down hill, they somehow are able to still make a pretty decent show, although im sick of some of the repetitive stuff ( celebs, homer ) but besides that, the longer these shows last in my opinion the better, more episodes, even if they arent as good as the originals who cares, as long as we have lots of decent episodes, u can look back at the show and be satisfied

All TBS has over CN is a higher home count (TBS is in 4 million more homes than CN). They're not nearly as profitible as CN though. CN's a high profiting channel up there with MTV, Nickelodeon, and ESPN because they have fresh new content at different points of the day. TBS has no original programming. They just play baseball games, syndicated movies and syndicated tv series. Look at their schedule! They could call it "The Rerun Channel." TNT's practically the same way except they play hour long drama shows throughout the day with movies at night and all weekend, and NBA/PGA games when it's on. Futurama would fit much better with CN as its homebase. It's animated, it would be original content, and CN makes the most dough of all the Turner Broadcasting networks. it would just feel more at home on CN.

they should have cancelled the simpsons, not futurama. maybe there will be some new episodes or movies in 20 years or so as with star trek.

I love the Simpsons but the show is going stale.
The only thing on Fox would be MLB and NFL. I think TBS should have Futurama.how would a primetime lineup of 2 Family Guys and 2 Futuramas sound? If anyone from TBS is reading this please get new episodes of Futurama on your station!

Okay when sports is on they shouldn't have the shows following it after the game ends. This god awful timeslot 7E was the only place to put Futurama on? I think that Fox REALLY hates Futurama and could care less if it was making money or not. I wish Cartoon Network had the same attitude towards crap like Poke-Mon but that is another story. Any other network would put Futurama on at least on a decent timeslot. The other networks don't even start showing their shows until 8E so why in the hell is 7E a good timeslot? No one watches tv unless they are the fan of that show to watch it at that timeslot. Fox REALLY hates Futurama for not saying thanks at the end of the last episode and speeding up the credits so no one can read them. I say FUCK FOX! They are assholes and don't deserve my attention anymore.
