Can't get enough Futurama

Futurama Season 2 DVD in the USA

The region 1 (USA / Canada) Futurama Season 2 DVD set is available from today on. The somewhat higher price compared to the Season 1 DVDs is well justified by the extra 6 episodes and way nicer menus. Go get it at 25% off and then start reviewing it.

"Small trivia: The disc casing pictures were done using gotfuturama for referencing."

Does this mean FOX used framegrabs from CGEF? Please, explain...

I am waiting for mine, I preordered it. One thing... don't know if this advertizing is allowed, but Futureshop in Canada has a great price on Season 2 - 36,99 Canadian Dollars - That is less than 30 American! And shipping is free in Canada! Check it out at Futureshop.ca
I DO NOT work for Futureshop
ToddAug 12th 2003, 00:00
You can save a couple bucks by getting it at Best Buy this week - $35.99.
ScruffyAug 12th 2003, 00:00
I went to Wal-Mart here and they didn't have the DVD. The sales clerk said that no one wanted to buy it so they didn't carry Futurama. That almost got me in a shouting match with her. Well I'm off to Best Buy.

#2: The designs are done as contract work. Im this case, the guy doing it didn't have proper access to the character layout database and used cgef instead.

Regarding buying it: Keep in mind that everyone buying it from amazon using our links is actively helping us to keep this site up a bit longer. No matter what we're doing in future, a bit of funding can't hurt.
SirGromitAug 12th 2003, 00:00
Just a heads up, I got it today at Target for $24.99 US. Best in-store price I've seen so far.
DaveAug 12th 2003, 00:00
I just picked it up over at Sam's Club during my lunch break. My only question is: How come they aren't using a metal jacket (like the T2 movie) for the collection. That way when Bender tells us to bite his shiny metal A$$ we have something metal to stick our teeth into.

MAN THIS DVD SET ROCKS, I WATCHED ALL 19 EPISODES IN A ROW... I NEVER THOUGHT I COULD LAUGH SO HARD... I WILL BE WAITING FOR THE 3RD SEASON TO COME OUT... BY THE WAY IF YOU HAVE A WALMART NEAR BY, IT'S ONLY 34.87 FOR THE WEEK... THEN IT GOES TO 37.23

KristiAug 12th 2003, 00:00

HamNEggs116Aug 12th 2003, 00:00
The set is great! Target has it for $24.99 as said earlier. But i got a 10% discount cuz the girlfriend works there, lol. Happy viewing to all. Everyone MUST buy this!!!
ThreeDLouAug 12th 2003, 00:00
I have to wait for mine to come in the mail because I got it through Amazon.com. I wear my CGEF colors proudly!
admiralcrunchAug 12th 2003, 00:00
I bought it this morning and it has that stupid plastic on the flimsy box! but other than that it's a good DVD
fonoopAug 12th 2003, 00:00
I got up early this morning and got to best buy 10 min. after they opened.
AgentOrangeAug 12th 2003, 00:00
I got my set from BB this afternoon after work, and when I opened it, I had Discs 1, 4, 3, and 4. Two disc 4s! I took it back to BB and exchanged it, and opened the new on in the store to make sure. Lo and behold, Disc 1, 2, 3 and 2. Two disc 2s. Wow, never seen that before. The clerk was just as amazed as I was. I traded one of the extra fours with one of my extra twos and now I'm all set. Anyone else have this happen to them?
HamNEggs116Aug 12th 2003, 00:00
lol, thats crazy #16. Those 2 sets obviously got mixed up. Fun story to tell i guess.
DarkAug 12th 2003, 00:00
Got my copy at target for 25$, what a steal! i payed 50$ for season 3 in the Uk!

Now the onlything i am waiting for is season 4 =)
boboAug 12th 2003, 00:00
i have the uk version but im such a big fan im gonna buy the usa version too somtime when i get some money
DaveEAug 12th 2003, 00:00
Bought it today at Saturday Matinee (FYE)...$37 plus an additional $5 mail in rebate probably brings it to about what it would have cost from Amazon, with shipping (next time, CGEF...I didn't know you got credit). Still about $7 more than Target; but they gave me a Rocky & Bullwinkle T shirt with my purchase, so I guess that makes up for it ;-) I notice the 4 dvd case pictures line up perfectly to form the full picture - volume 1 was a little sloppy in that department.
imnotgivingmynametoamachiAug 12th 2003, 00:00
does anyone know if the commentaries on the us disks are the same as the uk ones?
bokkasrealmAug 12th 2003, 00:00
For the love of god, buy it at Target! $24.99! Im lovin it!
ZakspeedAug 12th 2003, 00:00
Just got it at London Drugs, it was $43.99, but i dont care for a measly $4. I a die hard Futurama fan so i will pay anything to get it. I love the audio commentary! Love you all Futurama crew!
WhatMeWorryAug 13th 2003, 00:00
I love August!!! Futurama season 2 which I just got and The Simpsons Season 3 Comes out later and madden 2004 just came out too!! Best time of the year, for DvD's and stuff.
SimoneAug 13th 2003, 00:00
My Walmart had the set since Friday for 38 bucks. I'm still not finished with it, but I'm loving every minute of it. :)
ThomasJKruseAug 13th 2003, 00:00
i aslo got it at target for 25 dollers
ScuffyTheDogAug 13th 2003, 00:00
Is it just me, or does the art on the discs themselves look a little faded, compared to the first season at least. I was wondering if I had a bad copy.

Oh and I got it at Costco for 32.99
ChrisHAug 13th 2003, 00:00
I got mine at Super Wal-Mart Tuesday afternoon. They seemed to have a lot, it was around $38.

But oh man is it worth so much more. I think this volume came out even better. The animated menus add a lot, and all the extras, so many things to soak in. I still have lots left to explore, and I'm getting even more withdrawal thinking about it. Definitely gonna take hours to have seen it all. The around $40 price is definitely worth it.

You really notice how as great as Volume One was, they really hit their stride episode wise with this one. The episodes just flow so well, and the animation even seems crisper, more excitement.

Definitely kept thinking I'll never see anything like Futurama again. So, if you don't have this...beg, (purchase), steal, or steal (why would you borrow it?) as soon as you can. Great cure for withdrawal.

#27-I wondered about that for a second too, but I think it could be darker plastic cases this time? That or the images themselves used are darker. But either way, you aren't alone in your thoughts.

DorkPieAug 13th 2003, 00:00
similar to #21's question, does anyone know if the US version's content is identical to the UK version? if not, what differences/incentives to purchase the US version?
Archduke_ChoculaAug 13th 2003, 00:00
Pavel: Futureshop had it for $35 even cheaper than what you said

That plastic stick stuff used to attach the back description pisses me off, usually I rub it off with my thumb and then clean it off completely with a rag but since its a mixture of plastic and cardboard and it slightly damaged the edges of the cardboard, ohwell as I type i'm enjoying the X-mas episode with commentary.

although on two episodes theres slight distortion for a sec where theirs green like blocks, it happens on the "Why I must be a crustacean in love?" and "cryonic woman"

in "WIMBaCIL?" it's when the crab womans hitting on Fry if anyone else has this problem i'll be fine with it but if thats only mine (i'm willing to bet it is) i'll go exchange it.

again, that plastic sucks, but the DVD is worth all $35 bucks (plus tax)

"Zoo bapa doo, look at my head, zooboobadoo"

Benders awesome.
DaveEAug 13th 2003, 00:00
The best thing is NO COMMERCIALS! God, these shows are so much better without the disruption of ads. I just watched "A Head In The Polls" with the audio commentary...hillarious, especially Billy West doing his Nixon voice. The information in the commentaries alone is worth the price.
VamsiAug 13th 2003, 00:00
$25 for this great collection...what a steal! Makes me wish I had waited for the Region 1 release, instead of importing it from UK. It was definitely worth getting Season 3 though. God knows when it will be released in the US! Damn FOX for making us wait so long!

I think the US and UK versions are almost identical. The only difference being that the Region 2 version has more language options. I've been extremely happy with my set. The image quality and commentary is excellent.
zoidyAug 13th 2003, 00:00
i bought mine from best buy also and season 1 cuz it was $10 cheaper to buy 'em together! $55 for both seasons 1 and 2 (does anyone know when season 3 comes out inb the US?)

P.S could somebody tell me about some off the easter eggs in both sets?
JeremyFeinAug 14th 2003, 00:00
Brought this DVD for one reason and one reason alone. The Dvd Commentary.....No wait I also wanted to see the Deleted Scenes, SOme were worth watching. Some were crap. It's 1 50 50 win. ANd I'm sure there has to be a few Easter eggs hovering around.

Can't for for Season 3.
BrageFlagstadAug 14th 2003, 00:00

I have already seen every episode on the DVD more than once!I was watching episode after episode.
I can't wait for season 3
DrMarvinMonroeAug 15th 2003, 00:00
FUTURAMA Season 2 now, in 2 weeks THE SIMPSONS Season 3, then 2 weeks after that FAMILY GUY Season 3, and 2 weeks after that 24 Season 2. Gotta love FOX's Home Entertainment Dept (vs. the FOX Network).
TheMonsterShackAug 26th 2003, 00:00
Hi mArc.
I got Futurama 2 set few weeks ago, and on the commentary on episode 14:"MOTHER'S DAY". The very beginning of the commentary skips and repeats.
Is this defect on all the dvd 2 set or just on mine? It's not a big deal, I was just wondering.
Thanks
Zack
