I've said it before, but I really, really loathe Fox.

Realisticly though, why is it so very hard for the major networks to reciognize great (and highly maketable) television. You would think that the DVD sales, the Review's and the established fanbase would really encourage them to continue the show. Hopefully down the track they will realize the error of their ways and let there be more sci-fi comedy shows on the air.

Heh, if we wanted to be evil (as a pack of Futurama fans) we should all submit ideas in which shows have loud-mouth robots named "Ben Der" and a one-eyed space captain named Leelae (the last 'e' is silient). If we flood then with Futurama ideas, maybe they'll get a clue.

Man - this is BRILLIANT! Seriously, FOX is teaching the world a lesson on why you should never sign a contract or agreement without reading it first.

This is just like those reality show people who sign away all rights to their name, image and words during the show (including waiving all claims of libel or slander), as well as any chance of breaking into show business during that short time period after the show that the public remembers your name, through complex non-compete language.

According to the paragraph -mArc- posted, if you created and submitted a character named "Bimbo the Chimp" who wears a green cape and works in a pizza joint, FOX can produce and air a show about a character named "Bimbo the Chimp" who wears a green cape and works in a pizza joint, then claim "Actually, we had already thought of that concept before the contest". No royalties, no production credits, no nothing for you - except of course the "Thank you for your submission, but it unfortunately does not meet our needs at this time" letter you received.

This is unbelievable. It's like a plot to some bad movie. 'Pitch-o-rama' (which sounds a lot like Futurama when said quickly) is obviously a blatant rip-off and very lame. This confirms that there was an ulterior motive when cancelling Futurama.

Yeah, Fox really is scrapping the bottom of the barrel. Truthfully I don't want Fox

I'm mad because I've been waiting and waiting to pitch an idea for a animated show I've had for AGES- and now it comes with this Damned disclaimer that is like ripping a child from her mother's teet.
Even if you HAD a wicked idea for a show, who in their right mind would just give it away? This pitch will ONLY attract ideas too rotten to be loved, even by the creator.
If you've REALLY thought about and idea, and REALLY sketched out characters and scripts, etc. You'd never part with it so easily. And if you HAVEN'T done all that... Then you haven't put enough effort into your idea to merit it getting it's own TV show in the first place!

Hey, here's an idea for a show. I call it: "The Lord of the Brains". It tells the story of an evil TV station owner who lost his brain and is trying to do anything to get one. At the same time, he also hires a huge army of perfect incompetents to execute his evil (brainless) plots and rule the world of TV entertainment, even if it means destroying it. It would be a story filled with wars, lies, scandals, propaganda, and Joe Millionaires.

Let's all suggest an animated sci-fi series set in the year 3,000 where it's very witty and well-scripted, caters to liberals and conservatives alike, using Groening's animation style, and then once the show becomes a hit, play musical timeslots and preempt it at every possible opportunity using any lame excuse they can come up with, resulting in low ratings due to viewers' being unable to find their favorite show, then after much grumbling, cancel the show, and during that final season after it is cancelled, deny the fact that the show is cancelled, air it at a reliable timeslot, and then sit back amazed/surprised at the viewing share even in the piss-poor timeslot it is given, without any promos whatsoever.

Oh wait, that would be Futurama. My bad. ;)

I for one have just sent an email to pitchorama@fox.com asking why the cancel great animated shows then plead the American public to come up with a new idea to cover up their stupidness.

Was just wondering why on earth the FOX network is trying to con the American public into handing over their hard work for absolutely no recognition. From the numerous clauses it is obvious that FOX can claim they "thought of the idea first", which is pretty low really. Of course, this is just common practice for the network of Satan, but one thing makes no sense at all. You cancelled Futurama, and now you're trying to cover up for your mistake by desperately searching for a free animation. You've been killing The Simpsons for years, and you killed the greatest animated show ever, Futurama. Even with it's awful time slot, and endless pre-empting, it kept managing to bounce back, and now Cartoon Network is doing great from the synication deal.

I like the idea of "torturama," but HERE'S an idea. It's an animated show about a bunch of executives at FOX (who are famous for having brains the sizes of walnuts and an ignorance level through the roof) who accidentally get frozen, end up in the future, and then get killed in different ways in every episode (like Snu-Snu! And CLAW PLOCK! And as a finale, their lower horns are devoured by the Omicronians! >:) ) by order of Bender for cancelling his show! We shall call it "Kill All Humans... From Fox!"

Well here you go-I've got the most brilliant idea you're ever going to hear: Don't cancel shows with a loyal fanbase, that viewers watch, and that are original. Case in point: Futurama. Not only did you cancel this brilliant show (which by the way, is making ratings history on Cartoon Network right now...in RERUNS, nonetheless-I suppose you couldn't be bothered to stop the show from being pre-empted, eh?) you then have the nerve to ask for new ideas, when obviously you've ran the same overused, unoriginal ideas into the ground on your own. We were trying to help you by sending you that petition you know. Remember, the one with over 100,000 signatures to save Futurama? Oh yeah-that one.

Oh, and better yet-the same public who you systematically insult by taking their favorite shows away-you then beg to think of new ideas that you can claim credit for, and then find a new and original idea for Gail Berman and Fox to alienate it's already declining viewership.

The only reason viewer share went UP after cancellation was they suddenly gave it a reliable, albeit lousy timeslot. Based on word of mouth alone Futurama fans and even new viewers suddenly know where/when it would air reliably and began tuning in at 7:00. Imagine would could have been, had Fox actually given the show a stable timeslot and actually ran promos now and then!

Death to Fox. Cartoon network, PLEASE work with Mr. Groening and Mr. Cohen to produce new episodes. PLEASE!

Cartoon Network *cannot* at it's current state afford to make new episodes of Futurama. Why do people keep suggesting this? The only hope is that Cohen and Groening help CN in getting more advertising, or something like that.

It isn't a case of CN refusing to produce more eps, they've said they want to but can't make it happen. A petition would do nothing right now.

I've noticed that everyone keeps telling us CN can't afford new episodes of Futurama but has anyone seen the new Duck Dodgers show? That has at least as much 3D (which I understand is the expensive part of our beloved show) as any futurama episode. Has anyone else noticed this?

I too have been boycotting Fox except for Futurama. I agree, it helps make the point. Because even if you're not a Nielsen family, cable boxes do report what's being watched and when.

On to a more important point. I to am writing to Pitch-O-Rama to express my dislike for Fox and their disrespect for Adult Animation. I recommend that everyone reading this do the same. I'm not talking email here, I'm talking Snail Mail. Sign the letters and put a stamp on it! Keep the letter respectful and to the point. You'll probably not get a response but, I think these are the people we need to make the point with. If they get a ton of letters about Futurama, they'll get the point!

W/e James Dean lighten up!

I just want to be able to voice my frustration over the cancellation of a show that was never 'given a chance' in the first place. Fox didn't want to air 1 1/2 hours straight of animation. They didn't want to move Simpsons or King of The Hill (two "solid" shows that were comfy in their time slots as far as they're concerned). They also didn't want to budge their new golden child 'Malcolm' once that came on board (taking away any possibilities of a move to a later time slot for our beloved Futurama). So, whenever football Season rolled around, those of us in the Mid-west had Futurama pre-empted with fat cats rolling around in dirt for lots of money (I'm talking about the football players, not Fox exec's....THEY roll around in something far worse than dirt). I will gladly e-mail, snail-mail, or shout in the general direction of Fox studios and give them a piece of my mind (the piece that's the meanest and has the sharpest tongue). It may not change anything, but it will make ME feel quite a bit better and will help to annoy someone over at Fox.....like a mosquito.
