Can't get enough Futurama

Season 4 DVD Box Art

FOX Home Entertainment gave out a first picture of the Futurama Season 4 DVD set to be released in the UK on November 17th. As you can see on the spine, the first two discs cover five episodes each while the third and fourth include four episodes.
In addition, it looks like the set will feature subtitles in Danish, Norwegian, Swedish, Finnish and English for the hearing impaired.
Those in the UK or with Region 2 and PAL capable DVD players (all of Europe) can preorder the final Futurama DVD set at 30% off.

[-mArc-]Oct 7th 2003, 22:34
They produced a trailer (called "Final Mission"), but it's not yet available. Give it time ;)
ScottOOct 7th 2003, 22:36
NICE!
WendellOct 7th 2003, 22:38
Damn I will be waiting a long time to get season 4 here in Canada.
Must invent a time machine me want season 4 dvd set. (starts crying its not fair)
VamsiOct 7th 2003, 23:36
Is it just me or does the art look a little bland? I think Season 2 still has the best cover art. Anyway, it's what's inside the box that I'm interested in!

Can't wait till 11/17!
ChanticleerOct 8th 2003, 00:07
Must... not... make nerdy post... about spherical... versus... tubular... eyes...
modorciOct 8th 2003, 00:57
Oh god, it looks so beautiful - do we really have to wait all those weeks? I love this show - life has been tricky recently and the genius, warmth of Futurama has helped me through!
RoyalCrownChimpokoMasterOct 8th 2003, 01:06
OMG. #6, it's not that it looks bland, but that the characters seem to be flailing around helplessly in a black void, that disturbs you...and me. It's a downer and perfectly captures the feculent essence of FOX. Between this, the knowledge that it's the end of the line, and the "Laugh-or-Cry?" ending of the videogame, I don't know how much more "downer" I can handle.

(races to local comic shop to get the funny book)

Also: have Bender's eyes EVER been portrayed like that? I think once they were shaped like everyday light bulbs, but usually they're the long tubes. (Longer, of course, than the head could possibly hold--heh heh!)

(shudders to think what might be happening to everyone else's eyeballs)
IcehousemanOct 8th 2003, 05:31
So UK gets season 4 before we in the US get season 3. Yep, that's cool.
WezzoOct 8th 2003, 08:36
Huzzah! Can't wait till the trailer ;)
arthurOct 8th 2003, 10:54

MasterofspaceandtimeOct 8th 2003, 18:15

Masterofspaceandtime
S: I'm in Belgium so I'll get it also before most of you guys :)
SarahOct 9th 2003, 02:18
Sooo it's an American show...but it gets released in England and Australia first. What's wrong with this picture? (Region 4 just got Season 3 a week or two ago)
WHAAAAAOct 9th 2003, 02:38
Why did the show have to be cancelled...this sucks. Fox always has to cancel good shows!! Family Guy is also gone too. DAMN YOU FOX!!! Why the hell do we have King of the Hill??? That show sucks!!
johanleyOct 9th 2003, 04:15
I have deduced something:

Huge Futurama Fans like Family Guy and Classic Simpsons, but hate the newer ones and King of the Hill. Huge Simpsons fans like King of the Hill, but hate Futurama and Family Guy. Not sure about King of the Hill or Family Guy fans though. I am a huge Futurama fan. I love classic Simpsons, and hate the newer ones, yet I hate Family Guy and like KotH. I dunno why I typed that, I'm tired.

Every time I come onto this site, a hope to see a gigantic banner that says FUTURAMA! RESURRECTED! Then I can call my friends and say "Good, excellent, wonderful news everyone!"

And that box does look a bit bleak. But it's so gratifying these days to see anyone associated with Futurama have a dig at Fox. And what was the downbeat ending of the Futurama game like? I say too much, I'm getting off now.
SilentGregOct 9th 2003, 04:57
No matter which episode of Futurama, Family Guy, The Simpsons, and yes even King of the Hill I usually enjoy it. True some episodes or seasons were better than others but we are damn lucky to even have them be in reruns in the U.S. Some good shows or at least shows that looks very good like Reboot and others are never on Cartoon Network anymore for some stupid reason or another. Usually some really crappy shows are on CN but I guess they have to entertain the people with bad taste.

Anyways, I still don't really understand the point of selling Futurama overseas first besides the point of "testing sales" in markets which seems like some cover-up bullshit to me. Well, at least we poor Region 1 souls have Family Guy in its entire collection of episodes. The season 4 box does seems kind of weak but I guess we or they should be lucky to even get season 4 dvd while us in the US wait for the legal mumbo jumbo to allow CN to finally air those episodes that Fox royally screw us multiple times before.
SilentBobOct 9th 2003, 08:10
Anyone know the exact proposed release date for the Futurama Season 4 on DVD in the US? Stupid FOX canceling all the best shows... who decides to do that crap... Someone needs to die...
[-mArc-]Oct 9th 2003, 11:18
There are no dates for Season for in the US. Wait for Season 3 most likely in Spring 2004 first.

The reason why America gets the DVDs later with Futurama and many other TV production lies with the unique 2-tier system of making money on TV. The rest of the world doesn't have a network/affiliate system.
BrainSluggoOct 9th 2003, 11:40
#19: You can look up a complete walkthrough of the game--including a spoiler of that wicked, wicked ending :)--by plugging "futurama db.gamefaqs.com deadmeat" (without the quotation marks) into Google. (DeadmeatX is the name of the walkthrough's author.)

There's also plenty of cheat codes to be had out there.
WezzoOct 9th 2003, 17:08
johanley -- I *love* classic Simpsosn, KotH, FG AND Futurama.

SilentGreg - R2 has all the FG eps too.
sandmanOct 9th 2003, 18:35
Just watched first three seasons of futurama back to back!!
Thats one hell of a great day, laughed my ass off.
I suggest everyone to do the same because it really cheers you up and makes you laugh:>
JamesOct 9th 2003, 19:54
To #19: I expect the same. You know, I think that Futurama will get back on the air, oh and by the way, whats the link to the petition to get it back up on FOX?
WezzoOct 9th 2003, 21:51
I believe that petition has gone.. hasn't it?
SRMOct 9th 2003, 22:01
#19 sorry to spoil your theory but as a huge Futurama fan, I like the Simpsons (although since I have essentially cancelled Fox on my TV, I'll have to wait to watch new ones when they come out on DVD sometime in 2035. While we, in Region 1 will probably still be waiting for season 4 of Futurama at that time), Family Guy, PJ's and some of the newer animation on CN as well as my old fav, Animaniacs (WB, another network that doesn't understand animation). But I can't stand KOTH. I don't believe that show gets any ratings or has any commercial success. I don't know why that show stays on the air, other than Fox is being controlled by Brain Slugs.
SRMOct 9th 2003, 22:05
Oh, I forhot one other thing, about the eyes. Maybe the image is looking at them straight on from the front.
jmgZZOct 10th 2003, 03:57
Is season 3 and 4 worth getting now then waiting for the U.S release.

I have a disc that plays on regions on my PS2 and i never used it because I never got a out-of-region dvd..maybe this is the right time, lol.

brayOct 10th 2003, 04:18
Sarah (#17) said that UK and Australia will be getting the DVDs first. Is that true, that season 4 get released in Australia at the same time as UK???
(god I hope it's true...I'll own every episode before the end of the year... no more waiting to see the finale!)
JerecOct 10th 2003, 06:41
I think the Aussie release will be timed with the playing of the final episode, so channel 7 actually has something worth showing. Season 3 DVD set came out a day after the final episode appearing on the set aired (Route of all Evil), so that's my guess.

We might be lucky enough to get it before Christmas, but it might be early next year.
ZootheOct 10th 2003, 07:44
While I am so stoked about being able to watch Season 4 in a matter of weeks, I can't help but think in the back of my head "After this, what is left to look forward to?" Oh, the humanity!!!!

I noticed people mention Futurama, the Simpsons, Family Guy, and even (for some god awful reason) King of the Hill... but has anyone ever mentioned Home Movies? That show is so damn funny. I mean, it's not like Futurama or anything, but it is very entertaining! Just curious if anyone else here likes it.

ps: I live in the US and have a R2 player so I haven't bothered to buy the US releases... does that make me a bad person?
AshtonOct 10th 2003, 10:34
Australian Futurama season 4 release date is 15th of november.

Don't worry about it being tentavie, it was the same for season 3 and it didn't change.
AshtonOct 10th 2003, 10:37
Can't post urls huh?

RikManOct 10th 2003, 14:03

akakakakOct 10th 2003, 18:53
HAHAHAHA we get the DVDs before u!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1111
VamsiOct 10th 2003, 20:40
#30 - Depends on how patient you can be :) I ordered Seasons 2 and 3 from Amazon UK and have Season 4 on preorder. They work great in my region-free DVD player and the video quality is excellent.

I paid a little more for the Region 2 sets, but it was worth it. Seasons 3 and 4 probably won't be out in the US until Fall 2004. Too long to wait for this Futurama fan!
jmgZZOct 11th 2003, 01:03
yeah that's true, Futurama is my #1 favorite cartoon, and I can finally put that regionX thing to use! hah!
jmgZZOct 11th 2003, 01:06
BTW, accepts USD?
jmgzzOct 11th 2003, 01:09

rukuOct 11th 2003, 14:40

jeremyfeinOct 12th 2003, 20:59
Zodie want Futurama DVD's to be sold in the US already.....WHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHa
fry2006Oct 13th 2003, 02:37
Jeremyfien, look at DVD store shelves. See that box that says FUTURAMA Volume 1 or 2? You just found the DVDs.
justwonderingOct 13th 2003, 15:22
is the region 2 dvd's the same as region 1. i know it reguires a special player. i mean the voices, the commontary, and all the that other stuff. i would hate to buy them and they would be different
RoswellKifOct 14th 2003, 10:01
[-marc-], you say Region 1, Volume 3 not until Spring '04? :( to the power of 10!

*Zoidie sends Mobile Oppresion Palace to clobber FOX execs...*

akakakakakakOct 14th 2003, 20:03
FOX hates the US. AHAHAHAHAHAHA. We get the DVDs first. IN YOUR FAT FACE, YOU SUE-FOR-ANYTHING OBESE AMERICANS
thespiceweaselOct 15th 2003, 04:31
SO stoked to find that Season 4 comes out 15 November here in OZ... commiserations to our brothers in arms around the world..... by the by Zoothe (#33)... what about the game? Apparently there's some cut scenes that basically make up a lost "episode" if I'm lead to believe correctly...

We can look forward to that!
KeithOct 15th 2003, 05:19
After the widespread problems with the Region 4 Season 3 discs, I'll be ordering the Season 4 set from the UK - which I ended up doing for Season 3. I know it's out a couple of days earlier in Aus, but I'd rather wait a week and get a set that is error free.
JBOct 15th 2003, 21:09
According to DVD Times (dvdtimes.co.uk), the R2 has been pushed back a week to 24 November.
JadamsOct 24th 2003, 21:28
Doesn't look like there's much to whatch on it but still can't wait...Why do we get it before the U.S.?
DestructorOct 29th 2003, 10:29
I'm sick of all you americans crying, you'll get Futurama some day. HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HAAAAAAAAA!!!
