That's great! But Family Guy and Futurama are related to each other (I don't know how though) and Futurama's popular too. And I heard there's a possibility that Futurama might come back too.

Well, it looks like Fox finally realized its big mistake. However, this also shows that a show can be brought back, even if it's been cancelled for years.

Ren and Stimpy was cancelled for years and it got brought back.

Another point learned from Ren and Stimpy is that sometimes, a show can lose its original charm and wit over time.

ive been tryin to do my part, by buying a copy of each DVD (seasons 1 and 2) for all of my friends and family, and i bought The game for XBOX and PS2, and i keep buying more but im runnin out of stuff i need to wait for the Season 3 to come out!

Bringing back Family Guy on Fox just spells out trouble for anyone assoicate or is a fan of the show. For one, this will once again allow Fox to be the jerks they are and screw around with its schedule. Also, they can "ban" episodes like they did with the Weinstein episode. Face it, they don't have the power that The Simpsons have to get away as much as The Simpsons do. But it is possible for Family Guy to be popular in the tv ratings if it is on a stable timeslot and has The Simpsons' advertise coverage like radio and tv commericals. Only time will tell.

Frell Family Guy. That show was so bad I think it gave me cancer. Futurama is much more deserving of new episodes.

I read the article about Family Guy's return on the Futon Critic's website. I didn't think the DVDs sold that well, but I guess so. I agree with everyone else who wants Futurama back. I miss the show as much as everyone else, but there are always the reruns on Cartoon Network. Maybe FOX will bring Futurama back and let Cartoon Network air the new episodes? Who knows? FOX cancelled its freshman comedy "Luis" and the new drama "Skin" after a few airings. What show will get the axe next? I Bet Wanda at Large will be next...maybe Boston Public too.

I only watched a few episodes of Family Guy. It was funny, but didn't quite have the gloss or appeal to me as Futurama. The people who run FOX have a knack for cancelling great shows and putting dogs in their place, because they are cheaper and/or easier to produce. They never get a chance to develop for various reasons, including asinine scheduling and poor promotion. It shows how much they respect their viewers. For instance, reality shows can be made by the dozen for peanuts, but basically they're all about how much horse-manure and hooters can someone with the intellect of an eight year-old endure before he or she goes into a coma. None of them will ever last long, since no matter how often you change the title, it's still the same old crap. The people who run network TV in general live in a separate reality from the rest of us. For example, just because half of Hollywood is homosexual doesn't mean the rest of America loves homos, no matter how much they tell us we should. Hollywood is all about making money, getting the most bang for your buck, and shoving idiotic commercials down the throat of the American public time and time again. I made the mistake of watching a recent football game on FOX against my better judgement. One play, then four commercials, a kick-return, and four commercials. Then I got to watch half a play (the commercial was more important than the game) and then another couple plays, and another half-dozen commercials, most of them the same ones they just had on a few minutes before. More than half the game was commercials, repeated over and over again. Even the NFL is becoming nauseating... Thanks for listening to me complain. Boycott Fox!

Good on them, I say. I saw Family Guy I think only once, and it didn't seem like anything special to me but I know a lot of people love it so it must be pretty good.

We shouldn't be getting annoyed that Futurama wasn't chosen to be picked up, we should start getting excited again. If this could happen to Family Guy, it might happen to Futurama. Especially if The Simpsons ends in a few years (when will the madness end!)

I think all Futurama fans should have an interest in Family Guy succeeding on Fox. If one resurrection works, surely another won't be too far behind, no?

Count me as glad. I'm one of those new Family Guy fans who really started watching it on Cartoon Network - so this is great news. I just hope FOX gives them the freedom to keep the show's edge nice and sharp, and doesn't try to "Simpsonize" it too much.

As far as Futurama, I'd love to see another 18-22 episodes ordered, but I'm not holding my breath. There just seemed to be too much bad blood between FOX and Matt Groenig over the show - plus it would be a huge financial committment on the network to order a new season of the show. Hey - Farscape is coming back for at least 4 more episodes/hours, so miracles *can* happen.

I'm just glad that no matter what happens in the future, by this time next year I will own 72 Futuramas on DVD (I've already recorded S3 and S4 off of FOX and CN), each of which is a really, really good episode.

If....IF Family guy comes back, Futurama won't be too far behind.

YESSSSSSS Fox finally realized that all of its new shows sucked ass, this is great im a big fan of futurama but i just became a fan of family guy i hope is smart enough to bring back futurama cuz of late season 5 ratings.

The voices returning to Family Guy wouldn't be a problem like it might for Futurama; most of the voices are done by the creator and writers.

I think it would be more of a problem for Family Guy to have all the voices to come back than it would for Futurama cuz Meg Griffin had two voice actresses cuz one of them had to leave. None of the Futurama voices changed and there are more episodes of Futurama than Family Guy. But I still hope Family Guy will have the same voices when it comes back to (dumb-ass) FOX.

PS. In the episode of Family Guy, Road to Rhode Island, Stewie hoped that FOX would never let them die. FOX sucks booty!!!!

While I am not a fan of The Family Guy I like this because it gives me more hope for Futurama.

I find it unbelievably hard to imagine Fox won't find a way to weasel around and screw Family Guy up. They would probably rather rip the show apart and "Simpsonize it" than admit they were wrong by bringing it back in it's original edgy format.

I'm a little uneasy about a Futurama revival because I don't want to see this great show return in a cheapened format - either in the sophisticated animation, voice talent or the edge of the content. Right now, I'm much more in favor of the idea of a Futurama theatrical movie - or better, a trilogy- that answers all our questions. And why shouldn't there be a movie? Take the average ratings on the Cartoon Network and multiply each viewer by anywhere from 6 to 10 dollars for the average price of a movie ticket and there's your total box office gross (at the least). Then based on the movie's success, the show can return with greater ease.

Honestly, I'd kinda rather have Futurama stay cancelled. It was a great show, it had a great run, and I'd rather not have it's legacy cheapened.

To #23 Family Guy a "warm & fuzzy" show?!?!?! Have you even SEEN Family Guy? Apparently not, because there's things they've done on that show that would make the kids on South Park blush!! I'm amazed they were able to get away with some of the things they did. Of course your kid is bored by it, IT'S NOT FOR KIDS!! Kid's won't get 90% of the references in it. Simspons is more family friendly, FG is not. I'm a huge fan of BOTH FG and Futurama and FG's return gives me that glimmer of hope that Futurama will make a comeback also. But seriously, "warm & fuzzy"????? geez! Sorry, just had to set the record straight.

Family Guy has too many musicals... and they're not funny.

One of the reasons Family Guy wasn't a huge hit is because of many of the jokes and visual gags made people think too much. Main stream audences dont like to think and prefer simple sight gags. If Fox does resurrect FG, lets hope that they do not dumb it down to make it sutible for the 'main stream'. As for Futurama, it is too bad that Fox ended such a brillant show due to low ratings from a bad time slot, but, it is in syndication and on dvd and that is better than having it disapper altogether like so many other animated shows (clone high, invader zim to name a few).

Family Guy is one of the worst animated shows i've ever seen. crude, low-brow and completely unfunny. on a similar level as King of the Hill, but with much worse voice-acting. actually, it makes sense that such a rubbish show would be resurrected, since that is what the general population of FOX-watching idiots consists of: low-brow, crude jerkwads.

in all honesty, though, i don't think i'd want Futurama resurrected as a series (a movie, though, yes). as someone else said, it had a good run, but seemed to be running out of steam. i'm happy to (soon) have 4 seasons worth of great episodes to watch on DVD. no reason to tarnish the memories.

Interesting development. CHUD is reporting that if this all goes as planned, FOX will produce the new episodes, but Cartoon Network will air them.

As CHUD says, that's not a bad thing because it means "More airing, less censors, and a bigger opportunity for new episodes."

They also say the main reason is the DVD sales. The first set, at close to the million mark, is the best selling TV series DVD set this year and the 4th best selling TV set of all time. So *that's* why FOX is doing this. They are looking to sell DVDs and the airings on Cartoon Network are really just commercials.

I'll wager we'll see the DVDs come out *before* they air on Cartoon Network. If that happens, and with Matrix Revolutions coming to DVD 2 months after its theatrical release, how long before cable and movie theaters become obsolete?

To #51, What are you jabbering about? I enjoyed the episode, "A Bicyclops Built for Two", and the Matrix was all special effects and no real content (Mostly slow-motion flying men in tight pants. To get back to the point...

I always liked Futurama and Family Guy, and the (possible) return of one has both good and bad possibilities. I'd love to see new episodes, but at the same time, I don't want the old ones to be tarnished. It's a tricky practice, and reviving a show does not necessarily bring the audience back. They may have moved on to new shows to discuss and idolize... which makes me wonder why I'm still hanging around here, actually.

I say, let's just wait and see what happens. If Family Guy succeeds, it'll help open doors for Futurama. If it doesn't, well, I can skip buying that particular Family Guy DVD set.

I'm not sure if Family Guy will go back on the air in all its original glory--I know little about the television biz--but I'd sure like it to lead to a Futurama revival.

Of course, given that Futurama is CONSTANTLY referring to Star Trek, Futurama could go along the same path as that and come out with a couple of successful movies before we get Futurama: The Next Generation. Two caveats, though: I think we'd all want the Futurama movies to be GOOD movies, and I'd rather not have to wait 20 years for Futurama to come back.

Oh, and about the homosexuals supposedly controlling Hollywood--I think you're confusing them with *metrosexuals*, which is a different entity. We should all be nice to homosexuals, because a homosexual could be somebody's parent/brother/sister/cousin/best bud/shopping buddy/agent/voice actor.

Awesome news, but I can't help but wonder if Futurama would have been the one to be revived if its DVD sets were advertized as heavily as the Family Guy sets. I must have seen promos for them every commercial break on CN, while I don't think I ever saw one for either of the Futurama sets. I know that Futurama generally garners either comparible or higher ratings than Family Guy on CN as well.

I suppose we'll never know, though.

For starters I couldn't be happier that "Family Guy" has a possible chance of ressurecting. I only watched a dozen or so episodes of it on TBS Superstation but I found it to be a solid satire, well worth anyones half hour. The humor is sharp, the charachters are well developed, and the plots are never too overdone. Don't get me wrong I'd prefer an episode of "Futurama" over it anyday, but I can't understand why half of the people on this site are bitching about it. You're probably all just pissed because "Futurama", wasn't brought back instead, so instead of being happy for the damn show you all start bitching

I thought they were both fine shows, easily beating out everything else on Fox. I'm happy to see FG returning to production. I didn't think it would happen and I'm still doubting whether it will be good.
