JeremyFeinNov 30th 2003, 00:33

Now there is something to look forward to next year. Also this will give me enough time to save up money and put it away until March so I won't spend it on crap.

Me, too.

A lot of great episodes is from Production Season 3, specially the Emmy-Winning Roswell That Ends Well.
fryfanNov 30th 2003, 08:38
How come CN doesn't air Futurama episodes from the beginning? why are they airing the last 16 episodes again?
KazzahdraneNov 30th 2003, 11:06
#9, you're very much mistaken. We in Region 2 did not get Season 4 two months after Season 3.

Season 3 was released in May, and Season 4 just now in November, that's 6 months apart!
JamesNov 30th 2003, 16:24
Yawn. Season 3? That is sooooooo last June! Nah I'm just kiddin' congratulations US fans.

Well, I guess I'll get back to watching my season 4 DVD, ......opps, I did it again.
RorschachNov 30th 2003, 17:11
Hey, James!

Shut up.
metallirockNov 30th 2003, 18:25
All you Region 2 hippies, cram it down your noise hole!!!!!!! Expecially James and Kazzikazzablahblah!!!! All you losers need to shut up a you face!!!! Sarcasim is something those snobby europeans do not possess it seems...
LeahNov 30th 2003, 21:58
Whoo! Finally a real date! Even though March 9 will be upon us before you know it, we can always still hope that the date will get bumped up. Just like the release of season two got bumped up two weeks.
IcehousemanDec 1st 2003, 14:07
I figured since it was about five months between the first two seasons that it would be another five months until the third (making the release date January).
DamitolDec 1st 2003, 17:05
# 15 fryfan - Cartoon Network DOES normally show the episodes in production order (same as the DVDs).

November is sweeps month for ratings and as of 11-1 they also got rights to the final 16 S4 episodes, so they used the opportunity to break order and show the "new" episodes in a hope of boosting ratings (and thus increase ad revenue for the next 3 months until February sweeps). They seem to be reruning them again in December - again to boost ratings since Dec. is traditionally a slow month for TV due to the holidays.

So - Starting in January, I look for them to start with Space Pilot 3000 and run all 72 in production order over and over and over, as long as there is an audience for it.

And - on topic - yes, yes, yes - March 9th can't come fast enough for me!

I've been enjoying the Region 2 release for several months now, but I'm looking forward to the Region 1 set for the new animated menus. If they're anything like the Season 4 menus, they'll be well worth the price. Not too mention that Season 3 is probably the best season of the show.
KazzahdraneDec 1st 2003, 19:55
I wish I was rich enough to afford to buy a DVD set twice just for some animated menus :P
JamesDec 1st 2003, 20:32
Aren't the menus the same? The region 2 Season 3 already has animated menus. The only season without them is Season 1, which just has static (but well designed) stills acompanied by city sound effects.
Are you saying that the region 1 Season 3 will have different animated menus?
HamNEggs116Dec 1st 2003, 21:25
YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYY!!!!
MikeSmithDec 1st 2003, 21:51
Damitol, they are going to pick it up where they left it off on New Year's Night, with A Clone Of My Own, right after they get to SP3K at New Year's Eve, and both of the Xmas episodes (Xmas Story on Christmas Eve and A Tale Of Two Santas on Christmas Day), which they will break off the replaying of the Season 5 episodes.
JohnDec 2nd 2003, 19:02
Hey its me again (from 13)
people like #19 is the cause of why the world is like it is today, and why a lot of people dont like America. We're realy a nice country with good people... with a few red-necks like that kid up there, metallirock.
Anyway today is the 2 of December... so only 98 days left... I think I can manage.
VamsiDec 2nd 2003, 19:10
#25 - I think the menus will be animated similarly to the Region 2 release, but will have specially recorded dialogue for them. If you've seen or read about the Season4 DVD menus, you'll know what I'm talking about. I think there was mention of the updated menus also somewhere on this site.

#24 - The main reason I would want to buy the Region1 sets is so I can watch them on a progressive-scan DVD player. Otherwise, I would probably stick the Region2 sets I already have. The quality is quite good and I'm not seeing much issue with the NTSC-PAL conversion.
SRMDec 28th 2003, 02:50
I'm in the USA and I couldn't wait any longer, these Region Codes are the pits! I ordered Seasons 3 and 4 from the UK and it's great!

I did a Google search for "Region Free DVD", and there are sites that tell you how to make your DVD player region free. It's very cool.

Of course, come March I'll still going to buy the Region 1 version anyway. As much as I hate paying Fox, I've got to do what I can to support Futurama!
