Always wondered what a "50 year old Fry minus the stupid" would sound like when singing? So did I. But now we can ease our minds: Futurama voice actor Billy West published a new CD called 'Billy West & the Grief Counselors - Me Pod'. An advance peek is available from IGN Music complete with a full mp3 version of 'I Wasn't Broke For Christmas'.

There is a phone ordering service mentioned on Billy's music page where you can also find 6 more short samples.

I love Billy West. I believe he is as talented a voice actor as Dan Castllanetta or even Mel Blanc, but this sounds GAY!!!!!! A singing carrer...a band...get back to doing hilarious voices!!!

I don't think he's actively trying to build a singing career. He just likes doing it.
I've heard worse playing on MTV ;)

Hey, don't dis Mr. West's musical abilities. I've had the pleasure of seeing him in action and he is quite remarkable. He's even better on stage! (Yes, thank you!) Anyway, he is an excellent guitarist, writer and a pretty good singer to boot. I believe he wrote 4 Color World for his new movie:

After listening to the song a few times, it's really growing on me. Pity I can't find the CD on Play.com, might try and get it at some point.

The trick is not to expect funny songs with Fry singing :P

You may well be right. Just saw some of this week's Pop Idol (the original "Idol" show for you Americans), and the theme was Xmas songs. Frankly, this one beats the pants of a lot of them.

Well I've finally heard Billy West play guitar (every commentry David X Cohen would mention his abilities) and I can say I wasn't disappointed. From one guitarist to another (tho i doubt he ever reads this) good job!

As for nibbler, i saw him kicking arround the Billy West forums somewhere else (and billy west replied to him) so doubt it's the same guy.

Does anyone know where you can get Billy's CD over in England? Or any us websites which will import. After visiting billywest.com it only seems that the cd is available in the states. I have searched everywhere with no avail and am getting very sad (boo hoo) :(

Billy needs to stick with the voice acting. His guitar playing is decent enough; but his songwriting (to put it nicely) is lacking.
