Has FOX already signed to renew Family Guy? At tvtome it lists unamed episodes to be made and aired in 2005.

fryfan, nothing official yet. tvtome is run by fans, so he doesn't know anything more then the rest of us. He still has WYWUAW as unaired in the episode guide, which shows he doesn't spend too much time updating.

Oh okay, thank you, I wanted to make sure I wouldn't get my hopes up until it was sure that Family Guy was officially renewed. Has there been any new discussion about making a Futurama movie? I'm waiting to hear any new word about that. The last I heard Matt and David were still talking with FOX.

Why has Futurama now become 3-monthly? What is stopping it become a monthly ala Simpsons Comics?

Fox sucks because it canceled Futurama. Now I think Bongo is starting to suck because it isn't printing Futurama as much anymore. Why is that anyway?

According to something called "American Legends", Futurama comics #16 will be released Wednesday, January 28th. No cover art yet, only the small little promo picture in the "Hail to the Cat" issue of Simpsons comics. The only thing im worried about is if it comes out quarterly, it will take a year to collect the trilogy. I know Ian Boothby comes to this site, so if your reading this, please inform us about the release schedule.

Man, the idea of waiting almost forever to be able to get the whole Trilogy? Star Wars, Matrix, LOTRs, and others come to mind. I sure hope it is not the case with this, since this is a comic book. Why does it take longer for Bongo to make Futurama Comics, than Simpsons? I think they should focus more on Futurama, since people can still watch new episodes of Simpsons on FOX. Futurama was cancelled and there are fans waiting to see more new adventures of the PE crew, and I'm one of them. We want to see them more often and not have to wait longer. Fryfan, can't live on just fanfics forever.

I'm not sure when the first issue is coming out aside from that it's in January. One of the reasons Futurama books take longer is that they are MUCH harder to draw (at lease according to a certain artist pal of mine). You just can't get away with generic backgrounds. And there are always new aliens and robots to design.

In the first issue of the 4 part trilogy for example I've got James Lloyd drawing at least 6 new worlds and making up an entire school full of new characters. Contrast that to the latest Simpsons comic where Nelson moves in with the Simpsons. Basically there's two locations, the Simpson home and the school and very few new characters.

Thanks for that Ian. It makes sense that Futurama comics would take longer for those reasons you said. I would rather wait, then to see a sacrifice in quality. It's the same way I would love to see Futurama return with new episodes, but NOT in Flash animation.

Damn that sounds good, I just can't wait to read and see all the hard work that must have gone into this trilogy. Only one question, are all 4 issues already done? Or are the other 3 still in the works?

Hello Ian Boothby, I was wondering, have you thought in creating a spin-off for Futurama? Have you read my SpyOrama stories? They I also have a few at fanfiction.net. Many people have given me good reviews. Have you thought in doing something like SpyOrama? What do you think of my idea?

I don't read fanfic not because I'm a snob but I'm always looking for ideas and if I take one from you even accidentally then that opens things up for lawsuits at worst and at best me looking like Johnny Rip-Off.

And as for your other question in the future all trilogies have four parts. It's new new math.

As for Chumpbender's question, all four issues are written and approved by Bill Morrison (who along with being editor at Bongo also was art director on Futurama). James has completed the first part and is now hard at work on the next Simpsons/Futurama crossover (a HUGE story) John Delany (yet another guy from Vancouver like James and myself) will be doing the other three parts of the trilogy.

So Ianboothby since you work on Futurama Comics, does that mean you see Matt Groening and David X. Cohen on a regular basis? What are they like? Does Matt give you full freedom to do whatever, or does he give final judgement? How long does it take for you to come up with an idea that works? I'm just a curioius fan, so hope you aren't offended or anything.

I work out of Vancouver so I only see the Bongo staff, including Matt at conventions. Matt Groening is the publisher of Bongo Comics and has final say over everything.

I've only met David X. Cohen briefly in San Diego at the comic convention but he did send me a nice email about the crossover comic.

As for how long it takes me to come up with an idea, well at the maximum, monthly because that's how often the Simpsons Comics come out.
