Can't get enough Futurama

Futurama Comics #16

Futurama Comics #16 was released today. It originally was suppose to come out last week, but got delayed for unknown reasons. This is the first issue of the four part trilogy (four part trilogy...) by Ian Boothby. The next issue is scheduled to come out in about four months (give or take.)
When Professor Farnsworth's clone Cubert shows a slight dip in his studies and a decrease in his IQ, he is sent across the galaxy in search of a school that will save his brain from atrophying. But Cubert's not the only one sent off to boarding school. Fry, Leela, and Bender find themselves trapped in the Blackboard Jungle as well. Join us for the prologue to "The Time Bender Trilogy" - a special Futurama story arc - in four parts!
If you got it and read it, review it!

In related news, the guy at the comic shop that I bought this from had a Futurama t-shirt on. I asked him if he knew about gotfuturama.com, he said no. I then told him I'm the uber-nerd who never updates on the best Futurama website on the net. He seemed amazed! Eh, not really. But we did have a nice conversation on the lack of Futurama t-shirts, and the fact that he bought 6 of them way back in 1999 when Fox actually sold some good Futurama shirts.

FulvioFeb 5th 2004, 12:42

Or a Legacy ;)

It maybe #16, but it's NUMBER 1 with me! I can not wait for #17, #18, & #19. It s*cks they come out only 4 times a year. Bongo: More Futurama Please!!! By the way, Happy belated Birthday to Bill Morrison!

Finally! I have been counting down the days till this came out! I dont have a local comic store so I usually buy it from tcomics dot com, for those who feel my pain in not having a store. Futurama comics are in the 3rd collum under the Simpsons catergory.
anneFeb 5th 2004, 20:23
yeah it's called "quadrilogy" of course...
but bongo says also "trilogy" :/ who knows...
t0mFeb 5th 2004, 20:29
so if any person doesn't have a local comic store you can take my advice. It is the same price as of the stands, only with shipping and handling. Remember it is under the Simpsons catergory.

I believe that calling it a four part trilogy is a reference to The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, the slogan of which (after all the books were published) was "A trilogy in five parts".

Good joke :)

I have a question for Ian Boothby, it may not involve this trilogy, but will Futurama Comics ever reveal what Nibbler meant when he refered to Leela as "the other" in "the Why in Fry"? With the show cancelled and no chance of a movie any time soon, is Futurama Comics the way to answer that mystery?
t0mFeb 6th 2004, 01:03
This sounds sweet
t0mFeb 6th 2004, 01:07
I have seen The Why of Fry before but I never heard that part before. That would be an awesome story to put into a comic! Thanks for getting me interested in this fryfan!
fryfanFeb 6th 2004, 05:30
I like any other die-hard fan of Futurama am in a state of curiousity as to why did Nibbler refer leela as the other. I've seen that episode over ten times and that has been a question that has plagued me every time I think about Futurama. Futurama has answered many questions; Fry being in the future, Nibbler's shadow, Leela's origin, Leela finally liking Fry, but Leela as "the other" is the final piece of the shovel. Please, Ian Boothby, please tell us fans that Matt and David are planning to reveal that mystery.
fryfanFeb 6th 2004, 05:35
Doh, I meant, final piece of the puzzle, I just finished reading issue one of the comic and I had shovel on the brain.
edelFeb 6th 2004, 06:40
What's to reveal? "The other" just means "that other person who takes care of Nibbler in the future", no mystery there. Some people read way too much into the show's dialogue.
KazzahdraneFeb 6th 2004, 08:51
When Fry says "Hey Bender," I think he's saying that in an episode they never got to write Bender would become a robo-horse.
humanhornFeb 6th 2004, 16:42
I think 'The other' comment was foreshadowing, done in the same vein as Yoda in ESB
futuramaMADFeb 6th 2004, 23:17
Is it avaidble in the UK
JamesLloydFeb 7th 2004, 03:45
Shameless, Ian. Shameless.
IanBoothbyFeb 7th 2004, 10:43
To answer your questions to the best of my ability taking into account my ignorance of the situation James Lloyd is "The Other".
JonFeb 7th 2004, 11:32
omg omg omg, we're being attacked by cool people from bongo!
comicbookguyFeb 7th 2004, 16:32
Totally the best 4-part trilogy ever!
t0mFeb 7th 2004, 16:37
This is goig to be sweet!!!!! ... !!!!!!!!!!
fryfanFeb 7th 2004, 20:24
The reason why I brought up "the other" business was after reading issue 16, I began to wonder if this four-part trilogy had something to do with Nibbler and the Brain Spawn. But then I figured, Fry, Leela, Bender and Cubert would have found people acting stupid and not the result at the end of the comic.
dude75Feb 7th 2004, 22:10
sweet
fryfanFeb 8th 2004, 09:09
hey Jon do you agree that as fans we should get closure as how Leela is "the other"? Whether it is by Comic book or movie?
JonFeb 8th 2004, 12:21
edel already explained what the other meant.
fryfanFeb 8th 2004, 21:07
Jon, there has to be something more to it than that. Of however, that would be a great twist, but I agreee more with #18 humanhorn
FRinGesFeb 9th 2004, 01:58

Thanks CGEF. Read the posting for Futurama comic #16, by 4 pm I was buying the last issue at the local comic shop. Man, they go fast... was the words from the cashier. Was #1 re-issued? They had about 10 of those in a new shipment.
