P.S the pakaging is completely different as well! y's that?
CyberKnightFeb 9th 2004, 20:39
The US DVDs use slim-line cases instead of the standard DVD case for the individual volumes. So there's not as much space on the spine of the exterior.
KazzahdraneFeb 9th 2004, 22:55
#1, for the reason that Region 1 have got all 4 seasons after we in Region 2 have, television syndication.
JonFeb 9th 2004, 23:02
I personally cant stand those slim cases. I wish they just used the same layout as the UK version.

Also, I just noticed family guy has a box set of all three seasons in UK with a bonus DVD, wtf's with that? I wonder if futurama will have all 4 dvd sets in one package with an extra dvd? that'd kick ass, but also be crappy cause most of us already bought all the seasons and stuff.

I havent bought any family guy sets, so I'd def. buy this box set with the extra dvd now.

I cant wate till that happends i got money already to go when it hits stores. is that release date in canada to? if not, i live right by the border and i can go to futurshop and get a copy there.

Of the three Fox collections of DVD I own, it's really quite strange.

Futurama 1-4 are in the DVD cases.

The Simpsons 1-3 are in the stupid cardboard folding thing, which isn't too bad for a 3 or 4 disc set.

The X-Files. I have the first three seasons in DVD cases, and 4-7 in the stupid cardboard, which is REALLY stupid and a pain because the sets are 6-7 discs long. I have to put the damn thing down on a table everytime I want to get a disc out.

Very stupid, plus the collections look crap next to each other :(

KrazyFeb 10th 2004, 09:35

RyanFeb 10th 2004, 15:27
I love the slim cases. It's the best of both worlds -- it puts many dvds in a small space without the bulk of the wider, normal cases and the cardboard fold outs.

The boxes the cases come in leave something to be desired -- it wasn't immediately obvious how to get the cases out of the box.
FRinGesFeb 10th 2004, 17:21
hey upy slim cases suck
MikeFeb 10th 2004, 23:02

I personally love the slim cases. They take up far less space on my shelf. The standard boxes are just too big for a single disc, lots of wasted space.

#5, the deal with the Family Guy box set is to give the brits some stuff that they have missed out on. Europe got Family Guy before the states did, but they just got the eps. This box set will give them all the stuff that came in the US versions (commentaries, deleted scenes, featurettes and I believe an extra episode that wasn't in the first European release). I seriously doubt anything like this will be done with Futurama seeing as all the regions get the same stuff (commentary, easter eggs, etc...) with only small variations on the minor points (language options, case art).
JeremyFeinFeb 10th 2004, 23:08
I once bought the Uk DVD version of season three and it would not read in my american ps2 player........Boo Hiss Sneer............Only a few more weeks till Season three I'm looking forward to the audio commentary and the special features..........But 29 days of Feburary this year?.................Damn you leap year..........Will this month never end.........................
hoseheadFeb 10th 2004, 23:49
#18, it wouldn't play in your PS2 because the PS2 can't convert from PAL (Europe standard) to NTSC (North America standard) tv signals. I had the same prob, had to order a multi region player.

oh yeah, almost forgot the standard futurama board phrases: "boo fox" , "fox sucks" "fox is a pimple on the anus of humanity", and such...
trentFeb 11th 2004, 11:27
when do the main stores get then cause i'm not waiting to buy it in april or may plz email me if you know any more imformation about season 4 coming to Australia
t0mFeb 11th 2004, 14:13

JamesFeb 11th 2004, 16:01
Bah, the wait is killing me. I wish they'd announce Season 4 as well. Me and my stupid brain not getting a region free DVD player... :(
WezzoFeb 11th 2004, 17:14
#17, we did actually get the 'extra' episode (When You Wish Upon A Weinstein') with our S2; the 2 discs include 14 commentated-on episodes, two featurettes, 14 deleted scenes and the pilot pitch.
jmgzzFeb 12th 2004, 00:38
starting today, I'm going to watch each one episode per day on my DVD sets until the release...I can't wait!!!!!
BJBFeb 12th 2004, 02:14
Weezo, are you talking about the NA release of S2 and if so which disk is "When you wish upon a Weinstein on"?
WezzoFeb 12th 2004, 17:13
Nope, the UK version. It's on S3 in North America.
JerryFeb 12th 2004, 18:28
So any idea when Season 4 is out on DVD?
hoseheadFeb 12th 2004, 23:02
isn't "When you wish upon a Weinstein" a Family Guy episode, not Futurama?
ro1Feb 15th 2004, 00:40
