british sattelite and cable channel sky one has recently started showing futurama again after a long absence, at a rate of 10 episodes a week, four of them primetime.

whilst this may seem insignificant to you sky ones new ceo is one james murdoch, son of fox owner rupert murdoch, and by all accounts very much under the old mans thumb these days

so if the murdoch family see futurama as catching viewers in primetime on an entertainment, the old tyrant may decide to lean on some execs at fox

Also starting April 05,2004 futurama will air every night at 10:30 on teletoon. it use to air at nine only on weekends, so i guess both americans and Canadians have somthin to celebtrate about. (B) cheers

So they just flip flop Futurama and Family Guy again? That is not really any exciting news for me since I basically have all the dvds to both shows except for Futurama Vol.4, which isn't release yet in US. I wish they would just start airing the anime in its original Japanese verison with English subtitles because those English dubbed versions are really awful except for Cowboy Bebop and maybe Big O.

I thought I saw a commercial that said new futurama tonight, but I guess I was wrong.

I hope that the authors overenthusiasm isn't at all, and that a new season of futurama will be made.

Right on Number 10. And who knows maybe they'll bring back the critic. I just bought the DVD and the show was produced by Rich Moore, and Ken Keeler was the Story Editor. And Brian Schessley directed his first Animated episode ever. I've heard the critic DVD sales are doing good, Family guy came back becuase of DVD slaes, and I've been visiting Veiwaskew.com and Kevin Smith is working hard on Flash Animation to make a Clerks Animated Movie. The point is the Clerks Cartoon and Family Guy are making combacks. And I've read somewhere that the simpsons cast memebers are holding out for more money, and I really haven't laughed after the 300th episode. Matt the Simpsosns is and always be a great show. But (and I'd never tought I'd say this) the Simpsons has peaked. Futurama hasn't. Yes there are new Futurama comics.......but they don't have the sma epunch as the TV show. Still keeping my fingers crossed for a futurama comeback on Cartoon Network or a animated movie.

OHHHHHH.....I just got another idea. There was a family guy episode where Peter had Chris fake a terminal illness so The make a wish foundation would bring back a TV show. Now if we can only find some one with no morals or ethics who will fake a disease so we can ask the make the make a wish foundation bring back

I really hope this isn't some confused writer because Futurama is special and has a special place in each of our 4 hearts.

Why calling that overenthusiasm? Have we already sunk so low into defeatism? If Lazzo thinks that Futurama is performing well enough to deserve a comeback, there must be more people at CN who think the same; it's not overenthusiastic it's pure logic.

There may even be peole at Fox who are reasoning like that too. That wouldn't be overenthusiastic, that would be completely insane and one would wonder who's the know-nothing-drug-addict lunatic that just said that.

It wasn't Mike Lazzo, the owner (or whatever) of CN who said that, it was the woman who wrote the Wired article... and she probably WAS being overenthusiastic...

Highly dubious. Berman is the one directly responsible for burying both Futurama and Family Guy in the first place.

But, as for all the defeatism, keep the hope alive! I remember another Science Fiction show which was once cancelled before its time, throughout most of the 70's all those fans had was hope. Thousands of books, 10 movies and five series later that show still lives on. May Futurama find similar but swifter path.

don't get me wrong i would love new episodes. but i do worry that if there is new episodes they mught not be as excellent as the other 4 seasons. am i the only one who is afraid that some of the new futurama episodes will become as bad as some of the new simpsons (i don't care what anyone says, the new ones are no where near as good as the first 5 or 6 seasons). i would rather they left it alone and started on a new groening project, than to risk befouling the futurama name.
p.s. this is my opinion, some may think the new simpsons are better than previous episodes. i am not critising the writers either.

can anyone tell me if it was fox that took futurama off the air or if Matt Groening was just getting tired of making both futurama and the simpsons at the same time? Was he getting tired of fighting the fox execs over the show's content?

And don't pull your f*n trump card of cost.. Look at the crap "Tripping the Rift" (on scifi), pure garbage. And it's done ENTIRLY in 3D. And being a 3D animator/artist (-exp'd), I estimate aprox. 25k - 50k AN EP.. (3D is not as hard as you think, nor does it cost as much as you assume, so don't) .. If SCI-FI can dump that much for this lame attempt to fill the void of social comentary sci-fi cartoons.. then what will FOX do?.. (Revive a funny series??. Screw that! Bring on the REALITY TV! A proven and effective flopper and intellectualy void topic! Americans'll eat it up like McGonad's fries..)

Changing the time slot to 11 may not seem like a lot to normal viewers, but as being the spearhead for the networks' edgy mature lineup, it raises the eyebrow on the possibilties that someone is paying attention. It was put there for a reason.. Think about it.

January 2005 is an estimated date that cartoon network could be airing some NEW episodes of Family Guy! First season sold more than 1 million copies, season 2 sold 520,000. DVD sales are said to be funding the episodes.

So, buy those futurama DVD's. Birthdays, Holidays, any occation. Get them, if you can!

It will probably be a while for season 4 since season 3 just came out. That is one more reason why Fox sucks, they make us wait forever for dvds of our favorite shows here in America when it was Americans who made those shows. If you like The Simpsons, then you will be happy to know that Amazon already has a release date for season 4, but I think it will be a couple of months.

All we need to do is put the money we would spend on DVD's into some sort of mind control ray that we can use on the fox executives, get them to create atomic supermen with hearts as black as coal.....

oh they could also renew the show no problem.

Futurama is one of the only shows that makes me laugh my ass off and also touches me emotionally (the why of fry, jurrassic bark, the sting, godfellas...all those episodes are amazing)
