Can't get enough Futurama

More fan art and rumours

Due to lack of proper futurama news we bring you more fan art Bryan Philips made Shion from Xenosaga based on Amy. It's pretty nice! I also got some big giant heads from Mushroom! Enjoy

Look what we found on Billy West's forum:
Billy West: Funny that you should be talking about this.I was out last night with a buddy in LA and I ran into Matt Groening. We talked about the cartoon network and he seems to get the impression that the CN is very interested in new stuff but FOX still calls the shots. We shall see.
CGEF still your #1 source for rumours

The difference between an optimist and pessimist.
Pessimist: eveything is so baad. It can't be worse...
Optimist: no, it CAN!
I don't know how about you but I am a pessimist.

A great thing to hear from Billy West.
this might be the begining for something new... we'll have to continue to wait and see.... someday
RTHApr 22nd 2004, 21:10
No, I haven't seen that movie. I heard these words from one of my friends.
jeremyfeinApr 22nd 2004, 22:43
I've heard that futurama will be back no later than 2006 On CN due to the high sales of the DVD's/
PersephoneApr 22nd 2004, 22:59
I Know it is off topic but you had the shule wrong for yesterday
apexApr 22nd 2004, 23:54
yup, just what I thought....
RandiApr 23rd 2004, 00:09
This is old news to me
NoAPOlogiesApr 23rd 2004, 01:56
Its good that Matt Groening and Billy West are still around and haven't moved on to any new huge projects.
johanleyApr 23rd 2004, 02:37
This is getting slightly irritating. Why do they persist on keeping the rights to Futurama when they clearly have no interest in it? Is it just for spite? Do they not want to see it thrive on another channel?

Groening: So, you loathe my show right?
Powerful FOX Executive: Yup.
Groening: Then... um... can you let me take it off your hands?
PFE: ..........show.......MINE! HAHAHA!
Groening: *sigh*

Just to reinterate, they have lost a viewer.

How do I submit fanart of my own?
KazzahdraneApr 23rd 2004, 08:35
It's my 18th birthday in 12 days. I suspect that if Futurama is renewed any time soon I may have to legally move my birthday to that day, possibly through witness protection or something.
GuyIncognitoApr 23rd 2004, 13:31
I can see it now...

Fox executives dangle the rights over the head of Cartoon Network... Cartoon Network go to jump and grab it, but Fox move it out of the way, and it repeats...

"Here you go.. Just kidding!"

*evil laugh*
DarkApr 23rd 2004, 14:10
As an optimist I try to see this as good news, hopefully CN will pick it up at with the same quality as it was produced on Fox.
asdfjklApr 23rd 2004, 15:54
Is there a way to know the number of sales has dvd has made so far? Like how many copies of season 2 have been sold? Is there a website or something?
SlackJawedMoronApr 23rd 2004, 16:40
I'm just woried that, even IF CN picks it up, us miserable bastards with only Free-To-Air TV will be left wanting...
anonApr 23rd 2004, 19:37
Us miserable bastards with only broadcast will at least have a chance to get a friend to tape it, or wait for the DVD's.
BaxterWashingtonApr 24th 2004, 00:38
"But FOX still calls the shots"

What the fuck? Why? Fix this problem, immediately.
KimberlyApr 24th 2004, 08:41
Fox svcks.
NeoxenokApr 24th 2004, 09:07
Fox's cancellation of Futurama had me "boycott" them by not watching most of their shows.
Though I don't consider it a "boycott" since I do still watch The Simpsons and the occasional King of the Hill, Malcom ITM, and Bernie Mac, though only rarely. The few shows that fox still has remaining that have anything related to "quality" to them are shows that I will still watch. Though I still can't believe that any of those stupid reality shows are getting any ratings. I hope those televised atrocities to humankind would stop. Ugh.
Good thing for Cartoon Network. They have an eye for a good show. Adult Swim & Toonami are proof enough for that and I take some degree of solace in that. I'll be the happiest individual on the planet if someone -- FOX or CN, would revive Futurama. Like the Family Guy, it really never deserved what it got and I think we can all agree on that. I just hope that someone realizes that before it's too late.
Anyway, this is my first post on this website and I wanted to make it meaningful.
bigphilApr 24th 2004, 19:59
according to the sun (britains best selling newspaper (sadly) and part of the same company as fox) the simpsons actors had also added demands about futurama to their greviances. has anyone else heard this or is the currant bun just making it up again?
fryApr 25th 2004, 00:13
i live in the uk and i dont really read the sun much, but i wish it was true

i was just watching the last episode of futurama on dvd (the audio commentry) and at the end they refused to say it was the last ever, only that they will see us on the next dvd commentry of futurama

i hope this is true :)
johanleyApr 25th 2004, 05:08
I haven't heard anything about that #24. But basically, if they demanded that Futurama be restored or they quit, their love of money would probably triumph. However, their hatred of Futurama may be more intense than we thought.
FRinGesApr 25th 2004, 10:15
is it true that Billy West was a voice n ren & stimpy? cause when there credits come on i think i see Billy West, but im not sure
knowsfordsApr 25th 2004, 10:40
yep he voiced both ren and stimpy
NeoxenokApr 25th 2004, 18:40
Billy West has done a lot of different voices for a lot of different cartoon characters on television. He also did Doug Funny, the Cheerioes Honey Bee, and many more.
He has his own website at Billywest.com, as I've recently discovered, where he has a list of all of his previous work.
TheDrainpipeApr 26th 2004, 06:41
Billy West was always the voice of Stimpy on "Ren and Stimpy," but he only started doing Ren after series creator/original Ren voice John Kricfalusi was sacked by Nickelodeon. No offence to Billy (who actually had a more polished accent for Ren), but John K. was the better Ren - he was truly manic. The fact that the Kricfalusi-era episodes were generally better added to it as well...

Let The Rumor Mill Begin

While the crew at The Simpsons try to figure out what they're going to do about season #16 (If you didn't know, the cast is on strike), it appears that the crew of Futurama have been getting phone calls lately from Executive Producer David Cohen. Now while obviously it's hasn't been confirmed or denied that Groening and Fox are in talks with Turner over the show, it apperas that many of the crew have been getting messages that hint toward returning to work. Apparently the revival of Family Guy, which currently has 5 scripts for Season 4 finished and being produced, has sparked interest in the revival of other shows on Fox that "died before their time." Word is even out that WB may be trying to revive The PJs.

If we ever get official word on Futurama, we'll post it as soon as we get it.
(from TVTOME.com)

KazzahdraneApr 27th 2004, 08:57
*dies from shock*

Sounds like David, as we all know, is really pulling out all the stops to save the show. Let's hope FOX has had some sense slapped into them.
SlackJawedMoronApr 27th 2004, 12:52
*chokes on his own tongue*
Wow. I just hope that TV Tome is as reputable a journal of opinion as I now hope they are.
CletusApr 27th 2004, 20:30
You know, it'd be cool if they got a deal to make new futurama in time for Matt Groening's hosting of the favorite Futurama eps on Adult Swim,,.

dreams happpily
KazzahdraneApr 27th 2004, 21:29
Hasn't Matt already introduces his favourite eps? I thought it was happening the other week. If not, maybe someone could record and rip his intros?
johanleyApr 28th 2004, 03:03
Come on, come on. I really have a good feeling this time.

By the way editors, you will post an update on what Matt's favorite episodes are when they are revealed, right? Us without Adult Swim are still curious.
foxypocobabeMay 3rd 2004, 09:23
wow i'm glad i stumbled on this site, i'm also glad that i'm not the only one whose dieing for the chance to kick fox's but for cancelling such a magnificent show... *sigh* i think #33 said it best. i wait with baited breath
KiKiXMushroomMay 4th 2004, 17:50
AWESOME No.#7!!!!! Where did you get that info? 'Cos it's some of the best news I've heard since the Futurama was cancelled.
RichardShepherdMay 5th 2004, 01:24
Wow, just found this site and this news. I really hope that SOMEONE picks up Futurama and runs with it.
RichardShepherdMay 5th 2004, 01:29
As for why fox have the rights, it'll be there in the contracts somewhere. You wouldn't believe what terms and options go into such huge contracts. I'm not saying it's right, most contracts are pretty shit for the artist. Unless you are mega famous eg REM, come to the end of a current contract and they give you $80 million dollars to carry on with a new contract. Even then I bet the company has first option on any new stuff........Oh well they do call it ShowBUSINESS.
stevewilliamsJun 14th 2004, 03:44
just comfirming that on the last dvd commentry on the (so called last futurama) episode they dont say that its the last episide they say see ya on the next futurama dvd commentry.
