Futurama Season 4 in the US

Although we posted the date before, I recieved enough emails about it to tell you again: August 24th is when US Futurama fans can rejoice and add the final 18 episodes to their DVD collections. Amazon.com has the Season 4 DVD set up for preorders at 30% off ($34.99). Those infidels who aren't sure yet should be swayed by our EU version review and the accompanying user reviews.

Just released in the US?

It's been out in Australia for a while. I jsut picked it up today, as they finally reduced it. When released, it was arond $80. I picked it up today for $32.
SlackJawedMoronJun 6th 2004, 13:19
No, not just released, the final (maybe) release date was annouced for the US. But really, who cares? Well, those zany Americans, I suppose. But meh. My Aussie set has served me well for half a year...
HyperChickenJun 6th 2004, 15:43
Amazon.com says there will be 16 commentaries. There are 18 episodes in season 4. What two episodes don't have commentaries? Can anyone confirm? What's missing? Why?

Shall I launch a preemptive blaming of FOX?
DrJohnZJun 6th 2004, 15:43
Yeah, our selling policy is messed up... but it's good news to hear, I have my money well saved already
PopetasticJun 6th 2004, 18:05
the fox press release doesn't list commentaties for BSNBAOT and Jurassic Bark. This better be an error.
ChrisWilsonJun 6th 2004, 21:23
All of you buy this, the DVD sales can fund new episodes then if FOX change their mind and uncancel :D.
johanleyJun 6th 2004, 23:04
That's great and all, but can anyone think of anything to look forward to after the final season is out? No more video games, no more episodes (I hope I'm wrong there), no more future DVD releases, I don't like the comics...
fryfanJun 6th 2004, 23:26
Will CGEF have another contest so that five lucky fans can get Season four for free?
benderfryJun 7th 2004, 01:34
who won last time? i wasnt paying attention.
MisterAUJun 7th 2004, 06:05

roberto4evaJun 7th 2004, 09:35
#1, where did u get ur s4 dvds for $32?! i only bought mine a few weeks ago, and it cost me $95!! :( oh well, futurama is futurama- it was still worth every penny :)
FryBot5000Jun 7th 2004, 11:29
JB Hi-Fi have got all the seasons for $32.
Sal2Jun 7th 2004, 22:19
I dont get it the U.K season 4 DVDs have been out for ages, i got mine just befor christmas. Why do the Americans (of all people) get it so late? theyre usualy centurys ahead of everyone else on stuff like this? anyone care to spell it out for Sal2? Are they just slow and lazy?

...and also $95 on DVDs has the world gone mad, at least it was somthing worth it ;)
KazzahdraneJun 7th 2004, 23:28
Since you asked it to be spelled out!

S-Y-N-D-I-C-A-T-I-O-N

The silly Americans like getting lots of re-runs out of a series before it is released on DVD and VHS. It's all about the money!
ICweinerJun 8th 2004, 04:39
alright all you dawm people stop bullying against the americans. I live in Hawaii and I am glad that the release date is out finally but i am not glad about all this dawm insults. it's not our fault our president is a flaming idiot who loves war. Well if you are an AMERICAN then i can give you a nice tip on saving big bucks on futurama.(especially if you live in Hawaii) go to the beautiful costco store near you to get it for 32 bucks but hurry because they only hold Futurama while it is still fairly new. alright peace out
keiyuriJun 8th 2004, 04:48
Umm, "final 18"? Did we miss something, aren't there five seasons? Or is it because of the last season being from CN and not Fox?

FRinGesJun 8th 2004, 05:25
so uh how bout season 5 will it ever hit stores?
SlackJawedMoronJun 8th 2004, 05:34
I'm not sure if you were joking or not, #17, but I'll answer for anyone who doesn't understand.
There were 4 production seasons of Futurama, but Fox split up the seasons in such away so as to show them as 5. Get all the DVDs, and you'll all the episodes. :)

And #15, Chill, buddy. Stop taking your nation so seriously. It's just a bit of land holding you above a cold blue death. If I got annoyed everytime someone bagged Australia, I'd, er, be really, really, annoyed. We're mostly joking, anyways. :)
SilentGregJun 8th 2004, 06:35
So did the UK Season 4 dvds had 16 commentaries or 18? If they had 18, then this is probably just some Fox press release error. Or maybe those two missing commentaries had very nasty comments about Fox's handling of the show (probably more than usual)that Fox decided not to include those two commentaries in the Region 1 release. Given all the crap they pull on us since the show began in 1999, I won't be surprise if that was the case.
[-mArc-]Jun 8th 2004, 08:01
Most of the questions can be answered by reading the review ;)

#19: Yours too, but anyway: There are 19 (18 + 1) on the UK discs. I don't think any will go missing in the US.
chumpbenderJun 8th 2004, 09:03
Sorry to change the subject, but does anyone here have a Futurama tattoo?

And to Marc, Jon and Andy, would you guys consider creating a page on this site to display Futurama tattoo pictures? My girlfriend and I both got one today and we would like to see what others have too.

Let me know, and we will send in pictures after they heal.
knowsfordsJun 8th 2004, 10:57
chumpbender, I am eventually going to get around to getting my initials written in Alienese on my shoulder
forgettheboneitusJun 8th 2004, 18:02
To second #20
All episodes of season four on region2 have commentaries so i guess this will be the same on R1 also to wet your appetite there is an easter egg on 'the devils hands...' which is a table reading of the episode which can be reached on the episode menu. Its about 40mins long.
PaintoJun 9th 2004, 01:10
lol guys..
here in italy there's only the first season on dvd for now.. ghgh
213213123123Jun 9th 2004, 08:21
Yeah I bought my Futurama season 4 dvd when it dropped to $32aus from JB HiFi too :)

that would be like only $18US?
InicAlanJun 9th 2004, 13:22
i live in Australia and have had season 4 for ages, just letting popetastic know that all epps have commentary, Jerasic Bark is really sad, even the comentary is on a bit of a sad note, i hope u all enjoy the dvd as much as i had, and all rally up to fox to start a new season
JacobStockJun 9th 2004, 21:12
To start this post off, i am american. people die every day but instead of that being on the news, we have president bush on there because he fell off his bike and got a scrape. we have micheal jackson and donny osmand, yay......jk, they suck. now with that said.....

i can not wait to get this, cause i want the farnsworth parabox and the why of fry. The TWO BEST EPISODES EVER!!!!!
tacatatacatJun 9th 2004, 21:56
A these are the last of the DVDs!
(for now anyway!) ;)
barrytrotterJun 9th 2004, 23:27
ALL RIGHT!! Futurama season 4 Finally! I can't wait!!! But I guess i have to! HA Ha! I HATE FOX!!!!!!! AHHHHH! ALL FOX AND NO FUTURAMA MAKE BARRY A DULL BOY! ALL FOX AND NO FUTURAMA MAKE BARRY A DULL BOY! ALL FOX AND NO FUTURAMA MAKE BARRY A DULL BOY! OPUS RULES!
JeremyFeinJun 12th 2004, 01:41
All I say is this. I'm buying the DVD's for the Audio commentary. Espically the commentary for the Jurassic Bark Episode.

Because I heard there is a alternate Commentary for that episode.

Fox Sucks,

You Cancel any show with potiental and you run 25 reality shows that are not even memorable.

As for the simpsons sadly it's on it's last legs.

Malcolm and Bernie Mac can only run for so long, I'm not going to say goodbye to Futurama.....just so long for now and see you on another network.

Oh and Jacob Jurassic Bark, THe Sting, Farnsowrth, Why of Fry, Spanish Fry, Devil, and Crimes of the Hot were the Best Episodes. You forgot five of them, but I forgive you.
SpringsteenfanJun 12th 2004, 23:17
Don't expect them to cut any commentaries. I just found this at ign's dvd section.
"The four-disc set will include a commentary and deleted scenes for every episode, plus more, such as animatics." So I don't think there's any reason to worry
AndrewEdelsonJun 13th 2004, 04:48
yes yes yes yes yes yes. i'v been waiting so long to complete my series and now soon I will.
CliveJun 15th 2004, 23:03
the commentries would be edited for "fox sucks" comments, after all at the beginning of the dvd it says the views expressed in the commentries do not reflect those of FOX
johanleyJun 16th 2004, 02:26
Did you mean to say "Wouldn't?" Clive? Cause if FOX did edit the commentaries, I think I little "Freedom of Speech" lawsuit should be in order.
johanleyJun 16th 2004, 02:29

TickerJun 16th 2004, 09:05
I picked up the Europen set.. and all episodes had comentary..... and the two episodes that are rumored to be non-comentary have nothing in them that I would even remotely consider grounds for FOX to even consider not playing them..A couple other episodes say things that I would classify as more Anti-Fox than those..

-Bender Should Not Be Allowed on TV
-Jurassic Bark

are the rumored ones..

Jurassic Bark is sad... because they talk about it being simply a sad episode, and they talk briefly about the show coming to an end..BSNBAOTV is NOTHING Anti-Fox at all.. NOTHING(well.. at least 99.9% sure OJ did it nothing)..

>??

gumberculusJun 20th 2004, 08:19
ive all ready got it cause im from australia
110101011201011010Jun 20th 2004, 08:26
Jerasic Bark made me cry it waz pretty sad i love that ep
fhsksedjkgJun 23rd 2004, 05:32
Fox suckx. They cancel every good show. First Futurama, then Family Guy, and then they fill it in with crappy reality tv shows. Nobody likes reality TV, it just costs less to make. They were raking in alot of money from Family guy and Futurama, but they decided to pull the plug because it cost more than 20 bucks per episode. The only thing worse than reality TV is fake reality TV (A Sinple Life)
PulpFiction94imdbcomJun 26th 2004, 05:42
"They were raking in alot of money from Family guy and Futurama, but they decided to pull the plug because it cost more than 20 bucks per episode."

Uh... 20 bucks? I don't know if you were being serious or not but if you were, I know for a fact that the cost to make any given episode of Family Guy was $1.1 million, and Futurama must have costed more. Maybe like $2 million per episode.
seannJun 26th 2004, 23:03
and fox canceled Andy Ricter Controls the Univers. that show was as awsum as futurama. Fox should make dvds of that show too!... and arrested develoment!... and... thats all i can think of.
AussieJun 29th 2004, 12:59
HA HA, we already have the season 4 boxed set in Australia. My set is complete. The menus on the DVDs are great and you will love them
KidJun 30th 2004, 20:37
"They were raking in alot of money from Family guy and Futurama, but they decided to pull the plug because it cost more than 20 bucks per episode." #40- notice the MORE

Anyways, I can't wait to get it! To be honest, I haven't even seen any of those episodes... :( I live in Canada and we don't get CN (us cable users), only Teletoon which airs Season 1 and 2 but not 3 and 4. Now I can finally see Season 4!!! :D
futuramafanJul 6th 2004, 22:46
and Futurama must have costed more. Maybe like $2 million per episode.

then I would work my entire life just to see one more episode!!!
frynamyJul 7th 2004, 03:58
if futurama cost only $20 bucks a ep i would have bought 9999999999 ... 9999999999 eps ( if i had the money) y wont fox bring back futurama( i think family guys coming back in summer 2005
BlindStinkingSoberJul 12th 2004, 13:05
Futurama was the best animated series, ever. I doubt it will ever get picked up again. Obviously dvd sales have not been as impressive as Family Guy. Fox really seems to screw up good things when they get them. Fox cancelled a great sci-fi show called Firefly after 13 eps but the fans created a grassroots movement and now the show is returning as a big screen movie due out next spring! I don't see why something like that couldn't happen with Futurama!! Start sending emails to Fox and buy those dvd's! (Bush in '04)
PulpFiction94imdbcomJul 18th 2004, 18:04
"#40- notice the MORE"

#43 I did notice the MORE. My point was that $1.1- 2 million an episode is SO much more than $20 an episode that this guy's statement was ridiculous.
