If The Sting doesn't get it, maybe the Simpsons episode will get it, since J. Stewart Burns mangled to write that one, as much as he did with the Roswell one.

Haven't seen the South Park one, since my cable don't have Comedy Central.

I'm kind of torn between South Park and Futurama. On one hand, if Futurama wins an emmy, it may be just the thing it needs to convince the FOX network to put it back into production. On the other hand, Futurama has won an emmy before, and it didn't help it that time around, and South Park has yet to win an emmy and really deserves one. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

I'm sorry to say, but if Jurassic Bark lost against that awful Simpsons ep last year, what chance does The Sting have against the somewhat decent episode this year?

Hmm, personally I think the Sting should (not "will") edge out TWWW and SB:BC as far as quality goes. I don't know about Samurai Jack, although it's generally pretty cool/well done I don't recall that particular episoid and I've had very limited exposure to South Park, so I haven't a clue there. My bet's still with The Sting though, any show that can cause a person to cry openly should win an award of some sort.

It depends on the song used (that ep had a bunch) but I still think I'd bet on the Simpsons for the music catagory.

On a tangent, I have to say I disagree with johanley as far as what constitutes as a crappy episoide, I liked The Three Gays of the Condo (almost correct title, I believe)better than The Way We Weren't. TWWW was cute though, and it did have that awsome kiss sequence in it. I can never keep a straight face when a Kool-aid comercial come on anymore!

The Futurama opera would be a worthy win (and the sort of thing the programme desperately needs if it has any chance of getting a last-chance recommission), but the Simpsons contender is particularly strong competition. I think the 'President Wore Pearls' numbers have a better chance, to be perfectly honest.

'The Sting' has a better chance of winning its category - if pushed I'd wager that will walk away with the award.

Anything to do with the amazing final season of Futurama versus the fantastic fifteenth season of The Simpsons is really neck and neck, mind...

How odd. Emmy people must be thinking to themself "isn't this show long dead? how is it that we're still voting on it..."

The show being cancelled doesn't seem to have biased their opinion so far, let's hope the trend continues. At any rate, it's great to see the show still getting Emmy nominations more than two years after it's "demise".

I hope they win something...that will really show Fox the mistake they made!

If anything this is the one good thing to come from FOX stringing out the death of the show over a 5th Season. Jurassic Bark should have won, but if The Sting doesn't I'll start not giving a damn who wins any Emmys in the future, because the judges must be a bit dumb.

This is the first show that i've really liked and has ended. seinfeld, friends, meh... but this one kills me.
That being said, i love futurama, but its not coming back.

The Simpsons are now hogging the spotlight and Fox never let futurama a chance.

futurama is by far my favorite show; even the simpsons doth not approach its genius. (i've always thought that, while the simpsons is Fox's powerhouse , futurama was groening's opportunity to leave the contraints that the simpsons has behind and create a show where literally anything can happen.. something edgy, wacky, but also emotionally charged and somewhat visionary/meaningful). just my two cents.

and i'm not too big to admit that the sting made me weep like a child. it wasn't the first futurama EP where thats happened either, but the sting is seriously one of the most poignant moments of television, cartoon or otherwise, that i've come across yet. it deserves to win by miles over the competition.

The Sting should definately beat Simpsons. There were much better episodes of Simpsons than that one. In fact, I felt it was a little lame and kind of tarnished the already well-established love story of how Marge and Homer met.

Futurama should have no problem beating that episode but Jurassic Bark should've demolished "Three Gays..." Just goes to show how Awards show voting bodies often do not reflect the views of the majority of the common people who watch the shows for entertainment.

The Sting was one of the best written episodes of Futurama, along with many from that season. I just saw that episode of The Simpsons recently and it felt pieced together and had no feeling behind it. The Sting should beat The Simpsons easily, and although that South Park was funny, Futurama should take it...not sure about the others.

Well look at that "King of the Hill" didn't get a nomination. I guess Mike Judge is going to blame the Futurama nerds on that too.

"The Sting" is awesome. If this episode looses we'll at least have the piece of mind to know it was their best effort. South Park is the only thing that comes close to Futurama in terms of quality and legitimate competition. SP had an exceptional season last year but their nominated episode (Christmas in Canada) was weak. Had they nominated, say, their terrific anti-smoking satire "Butt Out", I might be torn.

I can't really say how much i like Futurama...probably because the word hasn't been invented, think its criminal that it got stopped same with Firefly to be honest. Ah well Here's hoping the Emmy gives it the kick start it deserves.

In addition to sending anchovies to FOX on Aug 10, I just read off of PEEL that follow AFFers are also thinking of mailing something to FOX before Sept 12 as a sign of support in hoping Futurama wins. It seems AFFers want to choose honey as a possible item. Honey since it played a role in The Sting. How does this sound? Jelly was also mentioned, but which is better? Jelly or honey?

I forgot to mention that the same fan art, germanfryfan who did the cool looking Anchovie label, at PEEL, which will be used for the anchovie protest has done a cool Royal Jelly Label for anybody interested in the idea of send honey or I guess jelly to FOX for the emmy message. Royal Jelly of Futurama is what he coined this protest. It is worth a look at PEEL.

The Sting had brilliant writing- when you stopped and thought about what Fry was saying towards the end, and realise what it all meant.... brilliant work.

Truthfully I've seen the commericals and I think that this proved that the reality show has peaked.

if fututrama doesn't win i would like to see fairly odd parents win as it is an underated show and is actually quite an intelligent kid's show.

It would be common sence for Fox to give Futurama a real shot as they didn't do so. You think the Network would give Matt some leaway after the Simpsons put Fox back on top and kept them there for a long while back 14-15 years ago. But the exe's have proven to have a short memory span. They should at least let Matt, David, Billy, Katy, John and all the rest of the crew continue production for the cartoon network, and let's not forget the $$$ on the DVD boxset sells. It's not like there still not raking it in. If I have missed anything, please let me know.

Just on emotional power alone, The Sting should win. It made my mom, my nine-year-old sister and me cry. It was well written and the ending was genius! Let's hope that the voters see that and honor Futurama where it is due!

I'm rooting for South Park. Matt and Trey deserve it. However if one of those chose *has* to beat SP, I'd want it to be The Sting. That ep was great. Although if you compare the episode nominated for each (SP: Christmas in Canada, FU: The Sting), The Sting is a better episode. I don't know why they didn't nominate a better South Park episode from that season like "Raisins" or something.

Personally I didn't think that The Sting was anything amazing. I thought that the Samurai Jack episode was very well done and the Simpson's episode was one of the better ones in a while. The Sting is up to par with those but I don't really see it winning.

Devil's Hands should win without question.

I don't care as long as it wins at least one. Besides that, if Futurama wins nothing, who cares anyways? We know it's a good show and enjoy it anyways. We don't need our favorite shows to win Emmies; just enjoy the show for what it is. I never cared that MST3K never won an Emmy.

i'm so happy it was nominated this year! i hope it wins both emmys! it deserves them...i just finished watching season 4 over and it makes me want new episodes soooo bad!!! i love the sting and i'm prolly crazy but i watched the last episode ("Devils hands...") at least 4 times over, i love the song towards the end and I REALLY REALLY WANT IT TO WIN!!! and i swear if it doesn't i'll join #30 and send a $#*! load of anchovies to the judges.
