Wizards announces that David X. Cohen will be Coming to Gen Con...
David X. Cohen, writer and producer for The Simpsons and executive producer for Futurama -- and a Dungeons & Dragons player -- will attend Gen Con as a guest of Wizards of the Coast. Mr. Cohen will participate in the D&D 30th Anniversary Celebrity Panel at 2:00 pm Friday afternoon, and sign autographs in the Wizards booth Friday at 11:00 am. In addition, he'll be enjoying the convention throughout the entire weekend -- perhaps you'll find yourself at the same gaming table!

That is way too cool for words. Damn, now I have to get myself out there for the convention.

I remember quite a few comments he made in the DVD commentaries about D&D.

More power to him. I'm also a D&D nerd.

Ask him if Futurama will ever come back!

Damn you WotC for moving GenCon. I live less than an hour from Milwaukee, and they moved it Indiapolis a few years back. Damn them!

Of course, Wizards aren't in charge of the Con, but still they're easy targets since I don't remember who is.

Reading all these replies makes me disgusted that I am even a Futurama fan.

j/k Or am I?
ReneeAug 27th 2004, 05:50
Well, I for one am a fan of D&D and an even bigger fan of David X. Cohen. I've listened to all the Futurama commentaries, and his comments are by far my favorite. If only I lived closer to Indiana, blast!
benderAug 28th 2004, 04:21
I'd play D&D, but I go out on dates, so I guess I don't have the time.
Bisected8Aug 28th 2004, 16:25
I don't think a website devoted to a science-fiction/animation show a dork though. And if you think you live too far from Indiana try and get over to this side of the Atlantic.

They prefer to be called "Future Geeks of America"
EnderBAug 30th 2004, 15:52
Futurama crosses every party line. It is the most intelligent, funny, moving, imaginative, gorgeous, narcotic, etc., show to light up the screen in a LONG while. I think my friends are fairly representative of the whole American spectrum, e.g. Jocks, Skaters, Nerds, Beautiful People, Academics, Bums, Artists, and so on, and not a one of them doesn't bleed with love for Fry et al.
EnderBAug 30th 2004, 15:57
And not a ONE of them doesn't bleed with lust for Leela. Except for the girls, except for the lesbians, who to the woman prefer Zoidberg and his mating goo.

BRING BACK FUTURAMA
HungryformoreSep 3rd 2004, 03:49
Any one who doesnt like D&D obviously has not played the game or seen the movie.
They talk out of ignorance.
Please bring back futurama, Im sure channel 10 in Australia would buy it. After al they air 101 eps of the simpsons each week.
MAke more futurama,
and try to get them to make another D&D movie,
How come I can only buy 4 seasons of futurama in Australia?
I want MORE, MORE, MORE I TELL YA
SlackJawedMoronSep 3rd 2004, 04:22
If you TRUELY love D&D, you won't let them make another movie. I can't imagine the game getting any positive publicity from that. ;)
EnderBSep 3rd 2004, 04:30
"Any one who doesnt like D&D obviously has not played the game or seen the movie. They talk out of ignorance."

I, for one, have done both, and am still not convinced. The movie was, as the Irish have it, rancid shite. The game was interminable and unnecessarily complicated and masturbatory. What is it with D&Ders that they can't allow for simple, dyed-in-the-wool dislike? If I dislike strained carrots and Oprah, does that point to flaming ignorance on my part or simply a difference in taste? Grow up. Get some sunlight whydontcha.
EnderBSep 3rd 2004, 04:35
It'll be interesting to see if this D&D comment'll be censored like my last one was. VERY un-Futuramaish, if you ask me.
EnderBSep 3rd 2004, 04:42
When bloodless, penisless nerds rule the show, I suppose that for once they can ensure no talk back, EVER.
MouseSep 3rd 2004, 12:33
The nerds are slowly gaining control of the world stop them stop them now!!!
