It's our 5th birthday

Yes, it's really our 5th birthday! I got the following mail from Jason Peavey who 5 years ago created CGEF with me:

Not many people realize this but today is CGEF's 5th anniversary, and I was thrilled at the opportunity to commemorate this event. When Andie and I first started this site on January 15, 2000, we had no idea what we were starting! What we wanted at the time was a mega-fansite to compete with a few other popular fansites at the time. Those sites aren't around anymore, needless to say!

There was a time when the site was in trouble with paying the hosting fees, and I was in over my head as a co-founder. I made the mistake of shutting CGEF down. Had it not been ressurrected by Andie, Marc, and Jon several months later, there probably wouldn't be a 5th anniversary. Yes, they have done a wonderful job in running this site, and they have exceeded my expectations in too many ways to count!

The real people we all should be thankful for, however, are YOU fans. After Fox axed Futurama, you continue to watch the reruns on Cartoon Network. You are buying the DVD boxed sets. You are reading the comic books. You are writing letters to Fox about your disgust for the cancellation. Futurama's fan base has breathed new life into the series with its fan art and fan fiction and various other contributions. YOU are keeping Futurama alive, and that is something to be very proud of. It's a long shot, but maybe with the return of "Family Guy" we may also (eventually) see the return of the series. But if not, we should be thankful that "Futurama" was a brilliant, hilarious, sci-fi sitcom from beginning to end.
So, let's celebrate!

Well, this brings back the memories of that night when sky One over ere showed Family Guy and Futurama premiere epsiodes in a double bill slot one night. I didn't think I'd become that hooked.

Great Job at all who are runnig this very great futurama fan site. My birthday greetings came a little late but better late than never.(i hope you understand this german proverb) :-)

Hey everyone,
I may not contribute to the site anymore(something that I regret but can't be avoided due to my job) but I'm very proud of the time I spent on the staff. It's always impressive how enthusiastic the response still is to the show even though it's been years since production closed. I hope the site always stays here as a testament to all the hard work and dedication that was put in by everyone(not just the webmasters). But mainly I hope it always stays here so people in a few years time who may discover Futurama will come to this site and be able to go much deeper into the show.
Because this will always be a great show.

Groening has said multiple times that if there was funding he would love to do more Futurama, as has Cohen. It's those curmudgeons up at FOX's corporate offices who hate our favorite show.

Now now, we cannot demand Murdock to bring Futurama back, he's busy spending FOX's money buying u all the television rights to all the sports, because thats the only thing people watch. Maybe once he have brought up every sporting event, ha may turn his attention to what people relly want to watch

What's wrong with sports.I am both a huge Futurama fan and a Man Utd supporter and I also enjoy rugby ,Gaelic football, Tennis, etc. Baseball's o.k. , as is Basketball. American "football" sucks ass. It's rugby for wussies, the players are huge and the wear to much armour and calling it football makes no sense 'cause it's played mainly with the hands. The Super Bowl nearly put me to sleep.But that's another story, my point is Futurama and sport can get along.

I was hosting a party for my daughters 16th birthday and I was listening to the kids commenting on my decor which is heavy on simpsons and star trek. So I overhear one of the kids say what DO you get when you cross the Simpsons with Star Trek, and one of them responds, rather drolly, FUTURAMA.
