Can't get enough Futurama
In Color

Monster Robot Maniac Fun Collection

If you hate switching from DVD to DVD while watching Futurama to get to your favorite episodes, well, then I have good news for you. Matt Groening and David X. Cohen have hand-picked their favorite Futurama episode from each of the four seasons and shoved them into a cute little one disk DVD titled "Futurama - Monster Robot Maniac Fun Collection." Our inside source for the DVD is telling us the episodes are :

From Season 1: Hell is Other Robots
From Season 2: Anthology of Interest I
From Season 3: Roswell That Ends Well
From Season 4: The Sting

As of now the extras on the set are somewhat unknown. But there's some buzz that there will be an introduction to each episode by Matt Groening, and if this disk copies what Family Guy's version has, then it's possible the disk will have new commentaries and new bonus material that has been locked away from us fans.

The disk's price will range from $14.99 to $19.99, will be availble May 10th, and most likely only be available in R1 format.

Thanks to futufan and Kyle for this information, and Video Business Magazine (registration required) for the official release date.

Neat! I'll definatly check it out.
NameJan 22nd 2005, 22:36
I'd like to see each season on less discs.
I don't have room for four discs per season.

Family Guy have Seasons 1&2 (but not 3) on two discs in a single box. Good on them!
angrysnailsJan 22nd 2005, 23:15
alright! i think they'll use the emmy nominated/winning shows(roswell that ends well, biclops built for two...)
ScottJan 23rd 2005, 00:54
If they toss in more commentary I'll be picking this up.
benderfryJan 23rd 2005, 03:51
angrysnails, check out the new dvd release thread in the PE stockroom at PEEL to find out about the episodes. Me? I'll be picking this one up.
ShadowJan 23rd 2005, 05:41
*Milk Milk

But still no new episodes.
ValJan 23rd 2005, 06:49
Money sucking.
But I would buy the DVD even with one episod if it's a new one!
Eyedol7513Jan 23rd 2005, 07:40
Probably no new episodes. But this will hopefully help 'Futurama', as more people can buy this and see the episodes, if they don't want to spend alot of money on the box sets.
As long as there is one new episode commentary, then I'll get this DVD.
AndieJan 23rd 2005, 08:49
you you!! you stole my update!
knowsfordsJan 23rd 2005, 12:12
If it has new audio commentarys and more extras I'd definately buy it.
theycallmeMRPibbJan 23rd 2005, 15:30
making us pay repeatedly for the same episodes, eh..? Greedy b*stards... Well... it worked... Couldn't they just have released a coffee table book or something?
superJan 23rd 2005, 15:39
ouais c super bon futurama... super
ChucklesJan 23rd 2005, 17:20
Lets think logically for a moment.

FOX releases a best of Futurama, if nobody buys it, it justifys there argument for cancelling the show.

But if people buy so much that supply coud never meet demand, mabey some people sitting i a big board room in America may come to the conclution that if they produce new seasons of Futurama, they may make what we normally refere to as

"A *!%& load of money"
angrysnailsJan 23rd 2005, 19:14
cool-beans i've got to get this!!!! i think they just did something like this for family guy so if this can do better than family guy's...
angrysnailsJan 23rd 2005, 19:19
"From Season 1: Hell is Other Robots"

also
i think they could have gotten a better episode
welshyJan 24th 2005, 00:20
i have all 4 seasons already, but if there was any worthy extras i would definitely buy! call me a sucker, but hopefully there will be something worthwhile! i dont think davis x cohen would accept anything less! the guy is a dude!!
UnknowJan 24th 2005, 13:46
Lisa Simpson is the greatest simpsons character of all time.

P.S-Bring back futurama.
SomeGuyJan 24th 2005, 16:21
that so true.
IDIOTSVILLEJan 24th 2005, 20:06
any chance of the dvd coming out in england
JonJan 25th 2005, 00:03
I see this as advertisement. It seemed as if the family guy version of this did pretty well, so lets hope the futurama version does well too.

Eyedol7513Jan 25th 2005, 09:44
I hear it's only going to be available in Region 1, which doesn't make much sense to me if it is true. FOX would obviously make more money if the DVD was released in the other places. (However small the amount may be. And we all know how FOX tries to squeeze as much money as possible from a product.)
KazzahdraneJan 25th 2005, 12:07
First I've heard of it being Region 1 only. Lame! Well I'll be visiting the states this summer so will pick it up then if it isn't released over here in the UK.
JoshJan 25th 2005, 16:15
Nice. I might just pick this up as a gift for a friend who still hasn't picked up Futurama. Depending on the extras I might just pick up one for myself as well.
SmallLoadedFrogJan 25th 2005, 22:52
I already have volumes 1 through 4 on dvd.. I dunno if I wanna spend $15 - $20 on episodes I already have.. it really depends on what the dvd has to offer before I get it.
DanJan 25th 2005, 23:12
people whining......stop it. I think this disk being released is a last effort to get the masses attention, and if it does well.....maybe we could see a family guy style revival?
Everyone buy it i say. Show your support. Spread the futurama love and lets get this show back on the air!
Dan x
fryluvr67Jan 25th 2005, 23:20
I have to agree with #25. Lets all buy it! We might see a return of Futurama! Also it would be nice to see what the DVD has to offer.
VCHJan 26th 2005, 02:11
Swick now if the XMAS decorations could be taken off this page even betta!!!!!!!!!!!
herothatisfryJan 26th 2005, 03:25
YES!! I'm stoked even though they're episodes I've already seen a hundred times. You've got to show your love and support for the show. Take one for the team and get it anyway
theycallmeMRPibbJan 26th 2005, 06:31
I guess if it doesn't get released in Australia I could always buy it over the internet. I think I have an all-regions dvd player anyway.
Hell, i'll even buy 2 of them!
ChucklesJan 26th 2005, 12:41
From #25, throught to #29.

Well said, i have to agree with all of you, i'll be buying one for myself even thought it may only be region 1.

Why you ask, because i love Futurama, and when you love something, you buy it, even if it has the same things on, in it.

Those of you who are saying that this disk is a waste of money, get the hell off this site, this site is for Futurama fans, not people who only watch it every now and then.
UnknowJan 26th 2005, 18:05
Lisa Simpson is the greatest simpsons character ever.
jurianJan 26th 2005, 22:48
Tsss... I want a R2 release!!

Pretty please?
FrymanJan 27th 2005, 20:20
Heeey I totally agree with Chuckles and the others. We need to do what we can to get Futurama back on the air. I own all 4 seasons as well. But I will do all I can to support the best show. We need to all stand together and do what we can to support the show. So you can count me in to buy it too.
LONG LIVE FUTURAMA!!!!
JeremyFeinJan 27th 2005, 22:20
Ok this sucks.

Fox brought back Family Guy.

So why not bring back Futurama

As for the audio commentary Well it would be nice to hear David Herman, and Phill Lemarr or Kat Succi for a change. I'm kind of Curious what they have to say about their contributions to futurama. ANd more Tress M. Would've been nice. Just a thought.
angry-snailsJan 27th 2005, 22:43
it'd be cool if they had like a music secsion where they had all the cool songs from futurama
FrymanJan 28th 2005, 02:19
Yeah, like a soundtrack. Like The Simpsons put out. :)
theycallmeMRPibbJan 28th 2005, 06:16
In Space... Noone can Hear You Sing...
jfedJan 28th 2005, 08:18
So...should I start hoping for new episodes to be produced because of this? Because I haven't allowed myself to for the sake of not being disappointed.
SilverHonkyJan 28th 2005, 09:01
Fox has us eating out of their hands, don't they? They release a DVD, or a book, or whatever, and we'll jump to buy it because we still hold out hope they'll bring back the show if the sales are good. News flash: The sales have been good, they don't care. Futurama is an expensive show compared to, oh say, Family Guy.

Stop stuffing their pockets with the green stuff.
UnknowNameJan 28th 2005, 11:51
Why you all treat Lisa like garbage?
knowsfordsJan 28th 2005, 11:56
this is a F-U-T-U-R-A-M-A fansite, we care not for the simpsons... well a little.

I agree with #34, I think if its gunna be a special edition DVD they should record new commentarys with all the voice talent.
ChucklesJan 28th 2005, 12:30
#39

What school of life did you go to.

Yes Futurama is expensive to produce, but, no more than an espisode of Star Trek, and the people at Paramount don't seem to be begging for scraps on the street. Also when you look at some of the guest stars the Simpsons that had over the years, they do not come cheap.

The problem is the morons at FOX do not understsand Futurama, the humor is subtle, and not slapstick, the technology is above pointy sticks and bits of string, and it does not show happy family life, which the American's place on a pedistal.
simpsonssuckJan 28th 2005, 18:07
if simpsons was dead new futurama shows would be produced!

KILL SIMPSONS!
simpsons is teh Sux0r evil
DanJan 28th 2005, 20:57
ooooooor, lets just support futurama. The DVD's of Family GUy were succesful, they re-started making the show. THe DVD sale sof futurama have been succesful, and this is a release to test the waters methinks. I DO NOT CARE IF THEY STUFF THEIR POCKETS WITH GREEN STUFF AS LONG AS FUTURAMA GETS BACK ON THE AIR WITH NEW EPS.
DAn x
OtisPJivefunkJan 29th 2005, 12:51
I hope this complilation has some nice shiney new Futurama artwork, I'll take any I can get!...

Also, I think it's a good idea. I just hope it has some worthwile extras...
fydiousJan 29th 2005, 20:05
Do we really need a link to that family guy crap? that show is awful. i wonder why people still mention it.
fydiousmckormickJan 29th 2005, 20:11
the people who buy this are suckers. i don't care what extras are on it.
DanJan 30th 2005, 01:20
Well, obviously your not a big a fan as you thought you were. Why are you on this site? u should support futurama. I wouldnt buy this DVD if it was still on the air and being made. But i want to show that i want to see news eps, and wil give the show my support. Even if its jsut one season.
ChucklesJan 30th 2005, 11:59

angrysnailsJan 30th 2005, 19:06
ok everyone, we all know that everyone wants new ep.'s, and its only has 4ep.'s, but lets try and put a good spin on this dvd set
cooldudeJan 30th 2005, 21:02
To #39, I disagree, partially. I think that what Fox is doing is trying to make money. Either they do this to squeeze our love for Futurama out and hope we buy this DVD, or they have this as a test for the number of fans, and the devotion of the fans to Futurama. I don't care. I'm going to buy it because I love the show. Fox can have my fifteen bucks.
angrysnailsJan 30th 2005, 21:10
maybe the dvd slaes will contribute to the show costn needs, you know help pay for the expences
AntonioJan 31st 2005, 15:55
I wouldn't have picked the episodes they did for S1 and 4. I thought Fry and the Slurm Factory was a lot better than their pick and the Sting isn't that good IMO.
youcantunwatchitFeb 1st 2005, 06:22
I think I agree about the Sting. That one just kind of creeps me out
ChucklesFeb 1st 2005, 09:02
I rather liked the Sting myself, one I would like to see on this disk is Thats Lobstertainment
angrysnailsFeb 1st 2005, 19:50
the sting should be there!!!!...also one they could have used is the titanic one(forgot the title)

Its "A Flight To Remember"
EnoFeb 1st 2005, 23:28
Mad props to #4,#7,#11,#16,#23,#25,#31,#36 and #37.
What are you thinking #5,#12,#26,#41?

I will certainlky buy this disc. Regardless of the extras or whatever. I will buy anything that says futurama or whatever because I need it.
youcantunwatchitFeb 2nd 2005, 07:51
Come on? Space Bees? The episode deserves a demerit for that alone
ChucklesFeb 2nd 2005, 11:51
#62 has a point giant bees is a bit daft, not as entertaining as a small toad with the ability to brainwash a herd of sheep, or a news caster who is giving the govenment of earth advanced warning of an alien invasion.
poboyFeb 2nd 2005, 22:36
I love the show, but I already bought seasons 1-4, so why should I buy this? Some of us don't have $15 to throw away towards the far-fetched chance of new episodes
626364aredumbFeb 3rd 2005, 01:19
The space bees were brilliant. never post on this webpage again.
PabloMendozaFeb 3rd 2005, 02:39
The episode of futurama "The Sting" sucked
PabloMendozaFeb 3rd 2005, 02:44
That's my opinion. They just need to make it funnier. And the coma thing? Not cool. Now "The Devil's Hands are Idle Playing Things", that's a hilarious one. I wanna see more ones like that. I'm more of a comedy guy, not tragedy.
NeoxenokFeb 3rd 2005, 06:48
comedy is a dead art form.
Now tragedy... THAT's funny.
youcantunwatchitFeb 3rd 2005, 12:42
The point was that, in the pilot, it was implied that the previous crew was killed by 'space wasps', not bees.
they didnt even give a reason for why there was that discrepancy.
anyway, i didn't want to argue. I thought the episode was okay, just not great.
youcantunwatchitFeb 3rd 2005, 12:55
I rate it a C+, okay... not great
TheLight6Feb 3rd 2005, 12:59
I would like to see these epiodes on one disc:Why Must I Be A Crustacean In Love, That's Lobstertainment!, Roswell That Ends Well and A Taste Of Freedom. Go Zoidberg wooooo!!!!!!
enoFeb 3rd 2005, 16:21
hey, Pablo!!!!!!!!! maybe you can appreciate the sting for it's brilliance rather than it's humour, you ass-tard.
You are certainly the most ridiculous person in the entire universe.
OtisPJivefunkFeb 3rd 2005, 20:03
This is kinda unrelated. Anyway, the new Futurama/Simpsons Crossover Comic has been out for over a week now, where's the news update? There's only been 3 reviews for it, there's normally loads more by now, but it's no wonder when you don't even tell people it's up for review. I can understand if you haven't said anything because you haven't got a cover image yet, but it's been over a week now so y'know...

If we want the Comics to continue, the fans need to know (or be reminded) when they're out. Not everyone is hardcore and knows all the release dates in advance. We need this site to tell the more casual fans to keep the sales up, and keep the Comic going!
nateFeb 3rd 2005, 22:00
why haven't they gotten rid of the xmas theme yet? whats goin on?
zachFeb 3rd 2005, 23:31
if u have vol 1-4 there is no point of getting them
knowsfordsFeb 4th 2005, 01:25
Yes there is, there could be extra extras (new audio commentarys, more unseen out-takes etc) and besides this may be a "okay lets see how many fans there are out there" thing.
enoFeb 4th 2005, 03:38
#76 is right.
also, if I were a billionaire (like rupert murdoch, who is an evil conservative bastard, so no one expects him to ever do anything that isn't motivated by pure greed, like ALL conservatives) I would certainly spend the money to get Futurama back into production, no matter what.
Similarly, by buying Futurama merchandise, you are (in a way and I know this isn't how it works but whatever) distributing the cost of making more shows. So buy it.
P.S. I don't care it is like Star Trek and it takes them 30 years to start a spinoff.
GregFeb 4th 2005, 14:40
Firstly, #62 and 63 ,the writers of the show can do whatever they want as long as the keep the same level of quality, so they can alternate between Space Wasps to Space Bees to Space Tapirs.

Secondly, this new disk is very exiting and I would buy it if it gets released in Ireland and any 4 eps would be good enough. As for new treats, I hope that there is a longer version of the featurette as seen on season1 and new commentaries with more of the cast, cause the ones with three actors were great, especially when Maurice and Billy were together
benderFeb 4th 2005, 17:17
I luv futurama but
I dont like the futurama comic
it sucks, it isnt funny

I dont know why I should buy it again, I dont say u shouldnt buy it but this is the futurama fanside not the futurama comics fanside

buying shit and hoping futurama will come back again is hilarious. I dont even know what hilarious means coz my english sucks and it is not my mother language. but whatever I think hilarious fits. wait. I have a better sentence. DONT BUY THE PHONY STUFF IF U DONT LIKE IT. wasnt phony used in the mars episode?

whatever, futurama should cum back again but u wont reach that aim by buying that phony stuff. better kill all the humans in the fox staff. that could be more helpful. And what s even more important: KILL ALL THE NEUTRALS, they are the real evil. with foes u know what u have to do. but with neutrals... it sickens me :-(
noxinnixonFeb 4th 2005, 18:24
#77

It was 7 years before the first star trek spin off happened, and that was because of huge pressure from fans, and some of the writters

Maybe FOX could learn from Paramount's example.
angrysnailsFeb 4th 2005, 22:25
#73 is it good i live out of a major area so i won't get it for a month...any good???

ALSO THE STING IS GREAT!!!

What does Paramount have to do with anything?
OtisPJivefunkFeb 5th 2005, 12:33
#81 yeah it's awesome, well worth the wait. If you check out the Comic Reviews section of this site you can see a full review by me, although just a warning as it does contain spoilers...
fydiousFeb 8th 2005, 08:51
why don't you people that are going to buy this just go ahead and buy as many copies of the volumes as you can? you wanna get it back on the air don't you? well, you gotta support the show then. i'm buying my second set of volume 4 next week. lets do it wage apes. long live futurama.
JeffbotFeb 10th 2005, 06:27
This could well be an example of Fox putting out feelers on remaining interest in Futurama. If this (relatively) cheap DVD sells well, it might be the extra push needed to get this show back on the air.

On the other hand, it also might be Fox trying to squeeze the last remaining dollars out of the show.

Either way, I'll be buying this new DVD, even though I already have all four volumes. It can't hurt, and I'll enjoy the new commentary and extra features. Here's hoping we see new Futurama in 2006!!!
BarfFeb 11th 2005, 15:12
I agree with #39. And I don't understand #40.
ChrisDFeb 11th 2005, 18:41
Any chance of doing another comic contest or something, like was done for the season 3 dvd release?

Looking at how much FOX's Sunday nights have sucked lately (Simpsons isn't even recognizable as the show it once was, American Dad's premier was embarassingly unfunny, Malcolm in the Middle has always been pretty hit or miss and gets kind of repetitive after a while, Arrested Development is decent but the first season was way better than the current one, and while I think King of the Hill is a clever and well-written show it is simply not laugh-out-loud funny), hopefully they'll come around soon and see the light, especially if Family Guy's return spurs a boost in their ratings. Sundays have for a while been the only night I normally watch television, but lately it hasn't really been worth tuning in to. Thank God for TV shows on DVD!

Stupid Family Guy! All it's rebirth did was get futurama fans excited, because they thought it would mean a rebirth of Futurama. IT'S NOT HAPPENING GUYS, I LOVE FUTURAMA JUST AS MUCH AS THE NEXT FAN, BUT IT'S OVAH! O-V-A-H OVAH!

Also The sting was a good episode, You just "Didn't Get it!"*Sarcasm*
iforgotwhichnameiwasusingFeb 16th 2005, 09:11
sarcasm like as in 'yeah, The Sting was great...'(?) or... oh stuff it, I dont care, I mean basically the whole episode was a coma fantasy. I dont know about anyone else, but, um, that seems more like a waste of time than anything else... "Wow!...so it was a coma fantasy all along. This must be like an episode of The Scary Door or something..."

I quite enjoyed "The Sting" but why am I under the impression that it was from season 5, when this particular 4 eps dvd has it listed from season 4? (note my id, so be kind! lol)
GregApr 4th 2005, 12:19
Well newbie, according to my sources(i.e this site) FOX didn't show all the shows in the the show in seasons corresponding with the production seasons, so shows like The Sting were shown in a fifth broadcast season. Also, beware because some people like to abuse people for asking questions and they won't go easy on you for being a newbie so just make sure you aren't upset by such people.
newbie2boardApr 4th 2005, 20:18
