I hope no one gets their hopes up thinking that the delay of this DVD will help Futurama come back on the air, I don't think false hope should be displayed like that. Nobody's going to prevent themself from buying the Futurama DVD cause they're swept up in the new season of Family Guy, and the popularity of Family Guy will not be gone within a year.

And to the guy who said Futurama gets no breaks, I agree. Just like when the show was originally on the air, it is being poorly advertised. Even now when it's on TBS, during the commercials where they show their late night lineup, they only show one Futurama clip (inbetween about 5 Family Guy clips) and they choose the dirtiest joke, where Bender pleasures the beer keg robot from "Crimes of the Hot". Doesn't anybody understand this show?

yeah it was about global warming basically. Robots were like SUVs and all the other fuel guzzlers that stupid @$$holes drive around in these days. Of course, the fate of robots in the show (pushing the earth into a higher orbit) is about as likely as an SUV driver ever growing a brain and not being 100% selfish and ruining the environment. I know that it's not like all pollution comes from SUVs in the real world, but the "it's ok to pollute" mindset is where pollution comes from, and SUVs do nothing to countermand that attitude.
It was quite an interesting and though provoking show, as with all Futurama episodes dealing with the environment.

Futurama was given to us a long time ago. Those of us who tasted Futurama know the aftertaste of Futurama is one that lingers and it can not be removed easily by the passing of time or by any of the other shows that have come or gone.
We've got a taste for Futurama - and we won't give in easy! Give us what we want already! It's been too long and the sweet flavour and aroma of Futurama lingers!

I Suggest we grab the Fox Board of Directors, and Murdock, place them in small wooden boxed with the lid nailed down, cover them with spiders and place them in small darkened room with no electricity or air conditerning while we take over the Fox Network and produce shows that people really want to watch such as Futurama

I do find it really strange. Murdock, being the owner of Sky TV over here, is quite content to show maybe 5 or 6 repeats of Futurama every week. Now, is he content to show Sky subscribers crap (in his eyes) or does he think the show is actually worth while, but does nothing about it.

Um.. I think it was last week Adultswim made the comment that Futurama had its highest ratings on their network over.. then quickly pointed out that wasn't bad for a show that hasn't been made in 2 years. Maybe FOX will get the hint.

Unfortunetly, Family Guy hasn't died down since the release of the 3rd series, and its doubtful that it will die soon because of the season 4 release this summer. I know that this isn't what you want to hear, but thats that.

Of course this would not have happened if the re-count in Florida did not magically change from saying Al Gore as it had for about 3 months to George W. then Futurama would be going strong. speaking of which, i know he may be looking for work right now, but do you think Al could make a nice donation to the Futurama Resoration Fund?

Just a note from a fan to fans. I've experienced the whole writing letters to TV networks thing and I've learned that if you write angry letters it just makes things worse. If they get angry letters they get mad and don't consider. Your letter just ends up in tomorrow's dumpster collection. Try telling them some nice things. I know. I know. Everyone is really mad at FOX right now, but if you want to waste your time; your angry letter idea is the way to do it. Try this. It might work.

Also, #65, to the best of my recollection , Phil LaMarr was in both shows so at the very least Futurama can't have entirely better actors. I also don't understand why you hate Family Guy, its overall quality isn't as high as Futurama's but I have to admit that it's extremely funny, it more of a "funny moments" shows, i.e Peter licks a rum flavoured ice cream and falls down drunk, whereas Futurama always seems to have jokes streaming out all the time, funny moments,Bender,background jokes in-jokes etc. My point is, don't act out against Family Guy just because it is still on but isn't as good as Futurama, just be glad it isn't reality T.V.(nnngh!)

Also, you may notice that every joke on that show was previously on some other show (usually the Simpsons). I have heard people claim that Family Guy does the Simpsons jokes better than the simpsons (which it doesn't in my opinion), but why would a show want to redo that which another show has already done.

As much as I would love to see Futurama come back, what you heard is a rumor and is insubstantiated. If you check IMDB, you will see that Matt Groening, David X Cohen, and everyone else involved are not signed for Futurama. Given that the actors guild keeps aware of productions and even productions that are kept under wraps are invariably leaked to IMDB months and months in advance, it is extremely unlikely that what you heard is based in ANY trace of truth. It would take them more than six months to produce more than a handful of episodes, and if it were coming back six months from now you can bet David X. Cohen, Billy West, and of course Matt Groening would be promoting it very heavily.

I wish it were true - I really do. Futurama just wasn't given a fair chance by Fox, which is true of all of their good shows. The only decent Fox show that has been given a real chance is The Simpsons.

Note: don't point at American Idol as an example of one which had because I specified decent shows, not scripted "reality television" drivel. ;)

Ohh God help me. To the best of my recollection, Homer didn't take over the direction of Streetcar and make alot of strange changes to the plot of the show. Secondly The inner space knockoff's are completely different and why is it that you say that The Simpsons and Futurama and not that one did it first and was then copied by the other. And as for the lowbrow stuff, what is wrong with that, just as long as the whole show isn't lowbrow. In my opinion, you seem to be looking for reasons to dislike Family Guy. #81 seems to get that Family is good and made is point without resorting to childish remarks which is why I can respect him enough to apologise for misreading his post and engage in future arguements about other minor issues whereas you seem to want get into some sort of mud slinging competition, but I'm sorry but I don't insult people for having an opinion.

I think the key to getting Futurama at least back into some stage of production so Fox can consider either playing it or selling the rights to [adult swim] is thru David X Cohen.
