Can't get enough Futurama
In Color

Movie info and new comic

If you're a die-hard fan, you know that John DiMaggio does the voice of Dr. Drakken on the Disney show Kim Possible. But to be fair, I didn't know this until just now. Why? Because Mr DiMaggio recently did a commentary track on one of Kim Possibles DVDs. What's interesting and Futurama-related is that in one of the commentary tracks, someone from the show asks John what's up with Futurama. Here's the transcript of the commentary :
Someone else: This one's just for John. I think Cinescape reported that FOX is thinking about bringing Futurama back straight to DVD. Have you heard that?
John: Actually, I was at the 350th episode of The Simpsons party over at FOX and ran into David X. Cohen and Matt. And David said "Yeah, we're gonna do some straight to DVD movies." I said "all right, well, when I hear Matt say it I'll know." Then I said "Matt, what's up? Give me the straight stuff." And he said "Yeah". So basically, I think what they're gonna do is they're gonna ... do straight to DVD movies that'll be on the air quality. And if FOX wants to put them on, Matt will be like "Guys, put'em on." Looks like we're gonna do it. I haven't heard anything contract-wise or anything like that. So ... anything can happen. But once I sign my name on the dotted line, I'll be singing in the streets.
This is a month or two old, so it's not really confirming anything. It's merely some exciting news to add onto the idea of new Futurama material for the near future. Thanks to FryFan and his friend from the Kim Possible community for showing us this tidbit of information.

Futurama Comics #20 out now
Last Wednesday #20 of Futurama comics became available. The issue has a few pages of fanart and emails, fun stuff. Go buy the comic at your local book store, or buy it online at milehighcomics.com, then go review it.
Never before in the history of comics has there been an issue quite like this one! Bender, feeling under-appreciated, goes off on a mind-bending, time-twisting, space continuum-shattering odyssey that will take him across the galaxy and through the offices of Bongo Comics in a mad, mad, mad, mad chase. Only you, dear reader, will be able to bring him back when "Bender Breaks Out!"

this could be so cool we will get futurama back, bring it on.
I hope John DiMaggio is not telling lies because if it is true (drooles)
Ecco1980Jun 15th 2005, 13:29
Yes, I knew that Johnny D did Dr. Drakken's voice on "Kim Possible" - he's SO funny! I was watching something else on "Toon Disney" and looked up when I heard a "Kim Possible" commercial - I was like, was that Bender?? So I watched the show when it was on, and got hooked when I found out Johnny D aka Bender did a voice for the show. He does a great job - SO hilarious!

This is really good news if Matt Groening, David X. Cohen, Billy West, and John DiMaggio are all talking about the direct-to-DVD Futurama movies! I hope Katey Sagal is as interested about it, cause she just has to resume her role as Leela - she did such an amazing job! Plus, "8 Simple Rules" has been canceled by ABC, so Katey aka Leela will be looking for a new job. It's funny, because when "Futurama" didn't have any new shows ordered in 2002, Katey Sagal signed on to do "8 Simple Rules." Now she can go back to being Leela for the show, now that it's reversed and "8 Simple Rules" is now off the air.

I just received my Futurama #20 comic in the mail yesterday, and it is SO funny! It's gotta be one of the funniest comic issues I've ever read - I was laughing outloud. Patric Verrone wrote the script for this comic, and he's also one of the writers for the show. Great job! I also love the segment where the comic goes "Behind the Scenes at Bongo Comics" and Matt Groening makes a joke about Fox Studios - check it out! It was worth the wait for this comic, now I can't wait for the next one!

I hope to hear soon about the discussion of the budget for the Futurama DVD movies. I'd rather have it come right to DVD because that way I won't have to wait for it to come out on DVD if it comes to theaters first. If they go through with it, I'll be so excited, because it'll be possible that if these movies sell well then they can also bring the show back on FOX! HOORAY! WOO HOO! :)

Yay! more semi confirmation!
BarryJun 15th 2005, 19:53
That's what's so fantastic about Futurama, is that everybody who worked on the show loved it so much that they're overjoyed about the prospect of it coming back. I don't know if they'd do it for free, but you get the feeling that they had such a great time that they'd have to think about it for a second ;)

BrainSluggoJun 15th 2005, 21:39
...Now if we could only save "Kim Possible" from Disney's 65-episode auto-cancellation rule...
MarciJun 15th 2005, 21:46
"...Disney's 65-episode auto-cancellation rule"? That seems a bit strange, what if the show is doing really well and is making lots of money?

Now to Futurama- YES!!!

Even though this is a few months old, any news is great news(except bad news)! Good to hear Johnny D is still getting some good roles, I love that man. :)
zoidypooJun 16th 2005, 00:28

iamlobstergodJun 16th 2005, 03:11
what happened
MrSporkJun 16th 2005, 04:37
Great news that there is definitely talk of the DVD movies. Sort of half-confirmed then. We'll just have to sit back and wait for the official announcement.
fryfanJun 16th 2005, 06:23
You can thank Kim Possible for this info. I've made it a quest to get Futuram fans and Kim Possible fans together, since Kim/Ron are similar to Leela/Fry. I was listening to this KP commentary and I was stunned to hear John DiMaggio talk about Futurama. It was the break I needed and I decided to let others hear what I heard.
JoshJun 16th 2005, 16:42
Which Kim Possible DVD was this on? Or is it one that hasn't been release yet.
BrianJun 16th 2005, 18:02
I watch KP.Im 12 so its okay for me.I actually think it's on the commentary for "The Kim Possible Movie. So The Drama" It cost about $15.95 at the Wal-Mart here so I may buy it cause Rufus,Ron,Wade, and lovable ol' Bender playing Drakken the funniest villan on Kim Possible! And i agree with Jhon.I will sing in the steet. But I'll be so happy i'll be singing in the street when its raining while wearing my pajamas sing the song "Don't Worry!Bee Happy" from the episode "The Sting" in season 4.Witch will lower my reputation in my town from "He's Okay" to "What a F#%$@$ weirdo?" I willbe Fox and Matt's servents until hell frezzes over!
BrianJun 16th 2005, 18:18
Marci with my expirence I think a 65 episode limit is true! Thats why NEVER has a disney series lasted more than 4 years! Here are some show s from Disney that did welll but died by the end of season 4.(Wait I think I just got some were.Mabey Futurama had a season limit.ANYWAYS!)The Jersey? [cancelled]EVEN STEVENS?[cancelled]Lizzie McGuire?[cancelled]The Famous Jet Jackson?[cancelled]All cancelled after about four seasons!I seriously think thats true!Witch means they will or may have already [cancelled] KP! If any of Disney's series has a movie like KP,JJ,ES,LM,and all they are OVER! The movies are a message telling us,ITS OVER! Witch means in a few years we will see "The Suite Life of Zack & Cody Movie!":))
ZOIDBERGsoupJun 16th 2005, 18:22
Your 12 Brian?DAMN!This show has been spread pretty damn wide!
iamlobstergodJun 16th 2005, 21:26
the reason that they cancalle after 4 seasons is simpale kids (age 3-10) will watch any thing disney or nicoladeon or cartoon network tells them to watch after the 65 episode mark happens they put the child stars in new show or hire new ones witch is why hillry duff wont be that famus in 5 years) just to get more ratting. they are the biggest sharkes around they are untouchable because of the age of people they go after and of coude parents will buy the murcindise to shut kid the fuck up or put them in front of the tv disney makes the movie to get more money then cancelle the shows their ass holes also brian your relly 12 what the fuck i thought u were 17 or some shit damm also i have never rell y watch disney ( more a nick or cn fan when i was a kid but what the fuck is kim possable and where can i get the dvd that has the commintery i want it
BrianJun 17th 2005, 00:33
Kim possible is a teenage girl who saves the world with her sidekick ron who has a pet naked mole rat named rufus who is like addicted to Bueno Nacho food. The person who makes her gadgets is a 10 yr old super genius named Wade.Drakken is one of the many villians. And The Kim Possible dvd is gonna be at Wal-MArt or Target.
fryfanJun 17th 2005, 02:50
The commentary wasn't from a DVD. A KP fan was able to get the commentary from a live interview that was recorded. The interview was just with the show's creators, and John DiMaggio just happened to walk in and join.
1-upJun 17th 2005, 03:10
I think that zoidy..... I mean iamlobstergod is right here. All of the shows that I used to watch as a kid "Garfield&Friends, Rocco's Modern Life, Kablaam etc..." have been canceled even though everyone seemed to love them. These cartoon channels will ditch a show if the revenue goes down 10 bucks, those bastards. You can see even now they are slowly pushing off all of the shows we've been watching for about four years to make more slot time for "better" shows, like that Martin Mystery show for example. Same with cartoon network. Know what used to be on @ 11-12 on Ctoon Ntwk, before the days of Adult Swim, Scooby Doo and Acme Hour "adult swim really started as this one hour thing called Midnight Run before it got better shows, I think it had Lupin III and some other Japanese show, cartoon network used to be todays boomerang channel until dexter's lab was made, then they started to make new shows, now their back to playing reruns , but from differant channels, take FUTURAMA for example. Just some facts I've picked up on over the years. I am sorry for going on like this, but I am pissed off at these Cartoon channels for taking good shows off, Excepting scooby Doo at 11, on CTNW that was bull shit because at the time it was on like 5 times a day excluding that time and the movies.

Brian are you seriously 12 or are you just screwing with everyone on the sight, not that there's anything wrong with being 12, but I seriously thought you were in like 11th grade or something. Wow, you probably don't even remember most of the shows I listed above, now i feel like old shit, thanks allot.
fryfanJun 17th 2005, 03:48
I forgot to mention if you want to listen to the hold commentary, you can access the link at PEEL in the "Invasion of the Girl Spy Cartoons" thread in the "It's Got TV" section.

The commentary also features John DiMaggio doing a little rap, based from the Kim Possible soundtrack.
BrainSluggoJun 17th 2005, 10:43
Okay, here's the details about KP's Kancellation. (I thought everyone knew! Sorry.)

First, some Yahoo! Groups dealing with the subject...I can't post URLs here, so you'll need to search for these two:

Mission_Kim_Possible/
TheKimPossibleResort/

There's also the forum at TVTome-dot-com.

Yes, auto-cancellation at 65 episodes. Technically, KP is already cancelled; "So The Drama" is supposed to be the series-finale movie.

(There's even a reference to this in the movie! Watch for the "No on 65" bumper sticker on Ron's mirror. Everyone involved hates this stupid, pointless cancellation with a passion.)

The theory is that the audience will have maxed-out by this point; not enough new viewers to make up for the lost ones. This is just the sort of mindless committee-think that has been ruining Disney for years now.

(And yet, ironically, ratings for "So The Drama" were through the roof. "Kim" is already Disney's high point; they don't have anything else with such across-the-board appeal.)

Preposterously, there are still THREE UNAIRED EPISODES of "Kim Possible" for US audiences; they all occur BEFORE the final movie (building up the Kim/Ron relationship). The "So The Drama" DVD also includes a fourth unaired episode that REALLY teases us on the romance. Too bad that issue's already resolved...

Unaired (in the US):
"Rappin' Drakken"
"And The Molerat Will Be CGI"
"Team Impossible"
"Gorilla Fist" (on the "Drama" DVD)

Wow, unaired episodes being cancelled and held off the air for months. Sound familiar?

OH GOD I JUST REMEMERED.......WITH INFO I THINK YOU WILL AGREE! THE SHOW "THE RUGRATS" WAS ON FOR LIKE 12 YEARS STARTING IN 1990.BEFORE I WAS BORN!IT'S 3 YEAS OLDER THAN ME! SO I THINK MABEY CN AND DISNEY HAVE THE AUTO-CANNCEL RULE! RUGRATS IS OVER IT WS NOT CANCLLED PEOPLE WERE PROBLY TIRED FROM THE BABY FACTOR.SO IT WEBT FROM "RUGRATS" TO THE NEWER VERSION "ALL GROWN UP." ALSO THE "ALL GROWN UP" SPECIAL MADE IN '01 WAS NOT EXPECTED TO HAVE MADE THE 2ND VERSION OF THE SERIES.ALSO "HEY ARNOLD WAS ON FOR.....WELL OVER 4 YEARS!AND I THOUGHT I TOLD YALL I WAS 11 A FEW MONTHS AGO......I JUST TURNED 12 ON THE 10TH AND FUTURAMA HAS BEEN MY FAVRIOTE SHOW SCINCE I WAS 9!!!!!!

1-upJun 19th 2005, 04:29
#26- I am jumping to the conclusion that you have satilite because our cable company does not give us that nicktoon channel, but I've heard of it. Prometheus and Bob was my favorite show on Kablaam., That and Life with Loopy. Yeah I forgot about Rugrats, they must have been made before that factor came around and their conract wasant affected or something.

Yeah, I go to the same school as iamlobstergod / zoidypoo / bender666zoidburg. The only reason I know about this sight is because he goes on it about 36 out of 40 minutes in our computer class. I actually try to get good grades wihch is why he comments 26 times a day and I comment about 2. No offense nick... um I mean iamlobstergod. So he dosan't get too mad at me, were both named Nick, try stealing identity with that. I am 14 too.

One other thing. I never said that Nickelodean got rid of ALL of their shows, (well mabye I did, but that's not the point) they might have enough sense to keep the ones that are doing really good. I don't see Spongebob going that much longer though, after that whole debate on him being gay and all, but thats just my opinion.
1-upJun 19th 2005, 04:35

I just went to futurama.com. Yeah, that really Does suck. Some of the links are right on this page, indirectly.
MorganJun 19th 2005, 14:46
Sweet Jesus.

YAY!!!
iamlobstergodJun 19th 2005, 20:23

srry i am not poasting futurama stuff

what do u people think of the trailer i made in my last poast
BrianJun 19th 2005, 23:38
Spongebob is NOT gay! My mom does'nt think he's gay but half the words are...........suggestive. Like Bikkin Bottom.I know it sounds a bit.....Strange but its just a name. All most anyone who has a kid wants Spongebob gone because we spend TOO many hours watching it.Or because of them tring to find somin' wrong with the show to get it cut off. And Spongbob had NEW episodes in May so I think it's off season.ANY WAY I'm off the futurama subject but I'm making refernce to stuff we been talking abot so iI just wanna say......I LOVE FUTURAMA!!! and all of the last 6 weeks of school I was all up on this site in computer class also when we were supposed to be doing some GAY ASS typing game.I got in trouble back when ever they said the first time on here "NEW EPISODES TO DVD" I got in trouble cause I yealled "HELL YA!" When I got finshed reading the paragraph.
iamlobstergodJun 20th 2005, 01:30
yeah i am pretty shure they dident cancelle it ...yet
1-upJun 20th 2005, 17:05
I wasan't saying that he (meaning spongebob) was gay but it seems is very suggesting that he is, I mean he cries in almost every episode.

Anyway, concerning futurama, I watch the dvd's more than adult swim so I gave up on that for awhile. Why have they taken it off on Thursdays and Saturdays? The show is great and there's no reason they should have cut back on the time.
iamlostergodJun 20th 2005, 21:13
nick they (adultswim)need ratings from new eps from fg and ad and wih havery bm ot athf or sealab coming on just before the jap cartoons come on and saturday night is all jap cartoons i think i am never home saturday night (partying to much io think i might have to stop) all so dont get a craxy ideia i am not a crack head or pottery smoker or a stone man i just like girls and acahole

post comment push button and i am out peace bitchs
IZfanJun 21st 2005, 00:18
You know Nick also had Invader Zim, which really shouldn't have been cancelled.
fishymanJun 21st 2005, 20:40
Futurama has returned to Saturday nights.

I don't think [adult swim] will ever give up Futurama, it's their second highest rated show (after Family Guy)
OwenJun 23rd 2005, 19:45
Hurrah!! :D Best news I've heard in a LONG time. And I'm glad - nearly two years of no new Futurama... How have we lived?! Let's just all cross our tendrills for official confirmation...
MAEJun 30th 2005, 04:25
Family Guy is releasing s straight to DVD movie in september so if it sells well FOX is more likely to put up more money for a Futurama movie.
JoshJul 5th 2005, 04:55
read it ^_^
monkeyboyJul 7th 2005, 04:16
kick ass! it would be soooo cooool if there was a futurama movie, i'd buy it. also if you've been watching [adult swim] there also might be a family guy dvd in septemper. futurama rox!
NickJul 8th 2005, 10:08
I live in the UK and #20 in the UK of futurama comics is about Fry starring in a movie about space boy and will be concluded in #21 which comes out soon.
TimtendoJul 11th 2005, 12:45
wow ... gettin futurama back would be the best news of this century :) ... best movies ever made on this planet ... imo :)
AngryTubbyJul 11th 2005, 20:17
I now hate the uk, since weve been catching up to futuramma comics (were now on issue 20 aswell), Theyve made the Comics 2-parters making the comic smaller. This Bones.
