Can't get enough Futurama
In Color

Beware of the IMDb...

I'm getting more and more emails about IMDb "confirming" that the straight to DVD movie is going ahead. At first it only was the release date they listed (2007) and now, that they published a plot line.

The plot summary on there was made up and submitted by the user Smitty on PEEL to prove that anything can get published on IMDb. Unless Groening and Cohen came up with the same idea, that plotline is NOT LEGIT as far as we know.

When we get actual confirmation from sources to be trusted, we'll let you know...

The plotline on IMDb was made up and posted on to the website by someone named daveg87.

(This means the plotline on IMDb is COMPLETELY FAKE/NOT LEGIT)!
tomisagothAug 25th 2005, 12:56
However like Dan1248 metioned on P.E.E.L the movie is likely to be about Brainspawn.
mrtvAug 25th 2005, 16:37
Thye have to beware of the info posted in now...
Nibbler99Aug 25th 2005, 16:54
It is a shame the plotline is not legit. It sounds great to me. I just hope the movie (DVD) will be released in all regions at once. Not like the last DVD. (I still hate Fox for that fubar.)
TeralAug 25th 2005, 17:01
Hah, good one Smitty. Guess that kinda ran a sword through IMDb's vaunted infallibility? ;)

I owe you a POTM nomination.
homerjaylaAug 25th 2005, 17:56
I guess there isn't any real people working for IMDB's web site.:p
AliPAug 25th 2005, 19:49
I think this plotline is fake, nobody has this info!
AkuAug 25th 2005, 20:46
I'm just gonna chill and wait till this movie comes out. No need for the plot to be revealed yet, anyways. That'd ruin the fun.
theclampsAug 25th 2005, 22:25
I agree Aku.
BrianAug 26th 2005, 02:09
I agree with the both of you.IMDb is so gulible to belive anything someone submits.
30percentironAug 26th 2005, 09:11
i just heard that they are new episodes of futurama airing sometime this month do i hope, do i pray are these just long lost episodes that never saw the light of day or are they new,new as in the hiatus is over-welcome back?
[-mArc-]Aug 26th 2005, 09:27
No such thing exists.
NickAug 26th 2005, 10:54
Hey... my name wasn't among the winners of the dvd contest.... ey marc? *wink wink*
tomisagothAug 26th 2005, 13:14
The new DVD movie coming out will NOT be released in the regions at the same time, because the ships/airoplanes carrying the DVD's from the U.S will arrive in different countries at different times. GUH!
tomisagothAug 26th 2005, 13:58
The PLOTLINE IS FAKE!
RyanAug 26th 2005, 17:45
Curse you IMDB! Usually I like you, but today I do not! Well, it is back to hell for me. Come on Nixon.
BruceGAug 26th 2005, 19:07
Sorry for being a Pollyanna, but what purpose does it serve to give fake info to imdb and then ridiculing them for being wrong? They
AkuAug 26th 2005, 21:31
The most useful and thoughtful comment yet, in my opinion, Bruce.
KimberlyAug 27th 2005, 02:53
Excellent!

Well, not about the bogus plot line, but that more details have been added. I still wish Fox would bring it back as a series though.

Thanks for sticking with it and keeping the site going, Marc! :)
seamonstermanAug 27th 2005, 03:07
i am pretty shure that its just some fan script/summary i say epect tons of them its the fucking internet dude don fees in to much crap i will damagie ur mineda
rnixonAug 27th 2005, 04:15
I don't know about you guys, but I'm glad that plot isn't real. It sounds terrible.
ElZilchoAug 27th 2005, 04:55
#17:

I'd say the point of doing this is to stop getting people to say "Hey! There is going to be a movie! IMDb told me so!" by showing that anyone can post stuff on there.
RichardAug 27th 2005, 09:22
The IMDB plot story doesn't even make much sense, the characters come to life?...some how?

I think they should do a time travel episode and reveal something interesting about the time between 2000 and 3000. Something about the evolution of the current "Megalopolis".
KirkAug 27th 2005, 09:59
If so many people love Futurama then why did Fox cancel it?
zachAug 27th 2005, 18:06
i think the movie should be very emotional. like the episodes about leela's parents in season 4, or jurassic bark, or about fry's brother in the past (luck of the fryish).

there is no doubt in my mind this movie will be very funny and very intelligent....but if it packs the emotional punch with a movie length....then wow. what matt has done in 23 or so minutes is incredible. with all this extra time...i can't imagine the moments and such he could set up. i can't wait.
BrianAug 27th 2005, 23:56
I agree with Zach. This movie needs to be emotional. And follow the relationship of Fry & Leela. If it does'nt at least continue the Fry-Leela relationship in some way. I will buy it buy it and love it but I will just have to write a fan-script about there relationship LOL!
KimberlyAug 28th 2005, 05:34
Hi marc, I'd like to apologize on behalf of the spammers. They can't help their mental handicap and their incessant need to pollute your board with their drivel.

------
ANYHOW.
What I'd love to see is a continuation of the main underlying story arc; Fry being the most important individual in the Universe, and Lord Nibbler's referring to Leela as being "the other" - I'd like to see the story line Groening and Cohen had in their heads when they planted those seeds. :)
NightAug 28th 2005, 12:59
I'm glad that it's a fake plotline, because it was pretty damn awful! Some of the episode plotlines have been nothing short of brilliant, and to end up with one like that would have been a huuuuuuuuuuuge waste!!
knowsfordsAug 28th 2005, 15:31
If it were to continue from where tdhaipt left off, I want the cold opening to be a recap of fry and leela's relationship ala rocky2,3,4,5/spiderman2
BrianAug 28th 2005, 16:34
I m still sad that I didnt get the price coz me iz european, that is unfair.

BrianAug 28th 2005, 18:46
I know what was the fake plot? I never saw it. I just know that site is so untrustable it's funny!

Sorry for being of topic but: Of for pete sake! Stop steling my name! I live in the United States! Why do you people steal my name? Does it make you feel better about yourself to steal a 12 year olds name and embarras me? Jeez!
30percentironAug 28th 2005, 20:39
i swear on my mouse that i saw on a commercial break, coming soon to .... new episides of futurama starting, but i cant remember time or date. it was on one of the cartoon stations "TT" im really not trying to be a jerkwad. but maybe i just heard what i wanted to hear.
seamanmonsterAug 28th 2005, 20:50
i still say its going to be a parody of the frist 3 star wars flims were fry has to save the unaveriose from mom or some other evil person then he gets the girl (leela) (like in every other flim)bender is going to be han and i have said the rest like a billion times but when u look at it the meaning of the show is fry comes to the futer to save every thing from the brians i say the have to go on that and fry has to get leela thats relly the best plot for the movie because any thing eles will just be point less
SlightlyOffTopicbyJonAug 28th 2005, 21:15
I think Jon's posting of his video in an attempt to get votes is terrible - spam by the moderator! And no comments allowed about it either.

If you want on-topic posts, that should start with the moderators!
zachAug 29th 2005, 02:36
yeah, i agree with you guys too. defintely a good call with the whole leela being the "other" and all that jazz. another fight with the brains and fry/leela getting closer could defintely be great.

zybanAug 29th 2005, 15:47
I think it's an unwritten law of TV writers that if you get the two main characters to 'hook up', it kind of destroys a lot of marketability and affects future evolutions of the show. Eg Mulder & Scully, Dawson and Joey, Ross and Rachel, Houlihan and Hawkeye etc, etc, etc.
I would be very surprised if Fry and Leela end up "happily ever after". The Professor and Hermes however.....
BrianAug 29th 2005, 16:28
Houlihan and Hawkeye

wtf? they have never had sex afaik
seamonstermanAug 29th 2005, 20:12
sorry to g.o.t buty u guys have yet to poast that the futurama robot maninc fun colletion is out in stores i got my copy last night and i am a little pissed becasue instead of eve puttin the old commentarys on for the eps the did nothing but the did commintate for the hell is other robots amamadic it is ok they mostley talk about notes for the bender charater before the show started again shocked as hell u did not poast it relase also leave jon alome its his site he can spam it all he wants
franAug 29th 2005, 21:06
:O how dare they lie about such a thing
seamonstermanAug 29th 2005, 22:03
dude as u know i live in america to so brian why did u say that
i have a huge fillin they might kill off a charater
NightAug 30th 2005, 08:58
Don't forget Ned and Stacey, even if they wanted to continue they couldn't, because the two main characters liking each other completely destroys the premise around which the series is based! I thought it was a great show :P As for Futurama, Leela and Fry together would be a mistake in the long run I reckon, unless they break them up and let it develope from there (highly possible, look at Scrubs). As long as they don't live happily ever after sort of thing!
KirkAug 30th 2005, 10:48
Sorry for my off topic question. But as I recall in the series Nibbler says "We will. We will indeed" After Fry offers to help save the universe again if it comes under danger. So I think that it should be about Fry saving the universe. Also I would be great if they had all the characters they could fit in the movie and perhaps some temporary alliances (Humans and Omicronions). Peace out, y'all.
bobberyAug 30th 2005, 18:22
if anyone wants futurama back on air visit
RichardAug 31st 2005, 01:58
Human and Omicronions united to fight an outside force...hilarity ensues, I like it.

I hope they DON'T try to cram as many Futurama characters in the movie as they can. Family Guy hit it big while they were cancelled, when they came back they threw in all the one-time characters that that a good joke in a single episode...I hope they leave them alone. (With exception to the Hypno-toad, we must see him again. )
BenAug 31st 2005, 03:01
That plot sounded terrible.
Interesting question (at least in my mind)

What I want to know is "will Leela have those annoying robot ears (dhaipt) for the movie? Im guessing that they will either ignore that it was ever there or use some futuristic gadget (but it makes you wnder, if they used a futuristic gadget, why wouldnt she have used it in the first place in dhaipt)
seamonstermanAug 31st 2005, 04:01
i may come off as a dumb ass about this but i just read it and i could make a better plot in my hair thats just crap if that the movie then shame on matt and dave
scummbuddyAug 31st 2005, 05:55
seamanmonster:
I don't remember Luke getting Leia in Star Wars. According to you, Bender would get Leela. ;)
tomisagothAug 31st 2005, 13:00
Bender does NOT like Leela!
GazAug 31st 2005, 15:10
Zap Brannigan needs to have some sort of affair with Leela again somehow. Comedy Gold.
zybanAug 31st 2005, 18:36
Brian, I'm referring to the sexual tension that writers use to add interest and "soap" appeal to scripts.

Hey seamonsterman, didn't you dig Billy West's Soprano impression?
zybanAug 31st 2005, 18:52
A Simpsons cameo in the movie maybe? I'm not sure about the dates for the Simpsons movie (or if it's just a rumor), but maybe there will be a Futurama character cameo in that as well (again).
seamonstermanAug 31st 2005, 21:02
well in sdpace balls the main charecter was both luke and han solo so if that one of the best comedys of all time (roll eyes) futurama can do it
30percentironSep 1st 2005, 08:59
marc, could you please tell me yea or nay, that there is at least one new episide of futurama airing on teletoon on thursday at 10 oclock (tomorrow) ive seen the commercial again, and this time with snippets from it. fry on his pajamas and a spaceship directly over him sending out a seriously wacked out air tube to yoink him and he says "nice tube" also i saw a golden talking "bender" hugging THE bender.. is this new, old, the only one at any rate tune in tomorrow
00100100Sep 1st 2005, 09:45
They are old episodes. Maybe in the Simpsons movie they could have a flashback to when Homer (or someone) was in New York and they ordered a pizza and Fry delivers it. That would look cool.
tomisagothSep 1st 2005, 11:43
Apparently the Simpson's movie is set to come out in 2006!
tomisagothSep 1st 2005, 12:05
The Simpson's movie has been delayed to 2007 now, so its almost certain that its going to be delayed again, and that will delay the Futurama movie.
tomisagothSep 1st 2005, 22:35
The Simpson movie was set to come out in 2006. by has been delayed to 2007, and is likely to get delayed again. Which will mean the FUTURAMA IS CERTAIN TO GET CANcELLED because of this!
seamonstermanSep 2nd 2005, 00:35
i heard 2008 but i could be worng hope it soon any who back on track i think the perfeser could die in the movie or bender eathnier way i have huge thoughts on a big character leaving

what the fuck is teletoon are u in canada or acroos the pond the best i can tell u is that it might be season 4 eps as we all know other counterys get the eps that aired in america like a year or 2 or 3 later so that what i think. what does the commercal say and what is going to happen in the ep

poast here. stay on topic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
BrianSep 2nd 2005, 00:54
I heard that someone abuses my name. Anywho, I heard that the futurama movie will be out 9-11 2006
seamonstermanSep 2nd 2005, 22:34
where the haties did u hear that from i thought they were still in the writing proscess any who that the best news in a long time
StarriahSep 3rd 2005, 05:44
60, they wrote a script so I think that right now they are working on voicing. I'm not sure if Katey signed up for it yet. I'm sure Billy and John are already signed up for the movie. Oh, and 59 I don't think it will be released that early... I think it'll be out in spring of 2007. That's 18 months from now. This is a movie we are talking about. Movies are usually high quality. For example, the first Lilo and Stitch Movie had very high quality and in the beginning opening sequence the animators made Lilo's eye pupil off, so they had to go back and redraw it. In the series, the animators don't get too focused on little bits like that.
tomisagothSep 3rd 2005, 20:59
I wonder if the advert will be good...
BobSep 4th 2005, 08:50
I never COULD trust the imdb...
tomisagothSep 6th 2005, 20:46
Brian you are DEFINATLY WRONG its coming out 2007 at the least and it will get delayed!
GazSep 7th 2005, 13:35
Knowing our luck, it will be delayed for longer and longer, and we probably won't even see it untill something like 2009. Also, if they don't sign Katey on to the movie, that will probably put fox off from funding the film.
GazSep 7th 2005, 13:52
Also, let's hope they think the script through, so it's not totally shit and kills off hopes for a futurama return forever! C'mon fox, bring it back.
iamleelasnum1fanSep 10th 2005, 03:11
we want more sesons 4 is not enough
StaceSep 10th 2005, 07:44
Teletoon is airing season 4 episodes (or what fox called Season 5) as "new" because they never had them before.
tomisagothSep 10th 2005, 19:10
At least FOX are bothering to make a Futurama movieand Gaz you are right it probably will be delayed to 2009 or more.
-------

As well I hope Fox don't do what some other companies do where they just make a movie of a popular T.V series then kill it off COMPLETELY, if they do lets just hope its a good movie.
tomisagothSep 15th 2005, 17:37
As we know it is almost certain the movie will be about the Brainspawn, this made me think the Brainslugs feed on brains, right (its a giveaway because of the name), so there will be a joke about Hermes e.g the Brainslugs bursting out of his head or hair, then the brainslugs will eat the brains.
nickmanSep 24th 2005, 09:02
from IGN Filmforce's interview with Billy West...

IGNFF: And what about the rumors of new Futurama adventures on the horizon?

WEST: Well, they're more than rumors. I was talked to. The first bulletin that I got is that they were in talks with Fox because Fox was very, very happy with the way the DVDs were selling. (Executive Producer) David Cohen told me they were in talks with Fox and that things were looking great, and that their idea was to make a Futurama movie to DVD, and then maybe release a second one. Then I heard that it was decided to do that.

IGNFF: And you're ready and rarin' to go?

WEST: I'm ready and rarin' to go, because I love that show more than anything. I thought it was just far and away above anything I had ever done.

The Futurama movie will be great and the series will be ruturned!
RobinOct 26th 2005, 22:53
Kind of a late reply, but I don't like the movie idea so much. A movie should be accessible for everyone, so also people who don't know the story of Futurama. Therefor they have to start all over again telling Fry being frozen, etc, and things will be different from the series, things we wouldn't like to see (different colors, details of characters that are different from the series, Nibbler's shadow, different voices).

Also: a movie lasts normally 90 minutes and isn't that just a bit too long for a Futurama story? 20 minutes is a good time. I'd prefer 5 new episodes on dvd, than 1 big new episode.

A movie based on a serie is generally not a good idea, especially when you love the serie. Check, or don't check: Thunderbirds, Bean, Garfield, Flinstones, Power Rangers, Bugs Bunny-movies, Rugrats, Pooh,... not one as good as the serie. Also: American movies always tend to end happily, and I hate that, that makes it so predictably. I fear that a Futurama movie would be more like a disappointment.

But on the other hand: make a Futurama movie! make a Futurama movie! make a Futurama movie! publish a Futurama movie! oh god, just make a Futurama movie! I would die to see that movie. We want Futurama back anyway!
ScarlettArcherNov 14th 2005, 15:21
#75:

You're talking about how movie based series aren't a good idea, but what about Family Guy? Didn't they make a movie and then launch back into the episodes, or just the high selling DVD's? (I don't watch FG, but this is what I've heard from my friends). Also, Rugrats was awesomess, and Futurama - the Movie- could be awesome. I expect that an extra long episode of Futurama would be awesome, I don't see any complaint in that.

I am so so so excited about the movie. Oh man am I excited. *Gazes down lovingly at the front DVD cover with Clobberella on it*
RyansteinApr 24th 2006, 03:35
I like Futurama
FrRobMay 26th 2006, 05:15
It'd be nice if the show were to come back, but I have a hard time seeing Fox do anything that smart. Futurama was just too well written to survive on Fox...look at what happened to "Arrested Development," and the way they handled "Malcom in the Middle." Both of these were well-crafted, funny shows. They were both shows that I would watch regularly, but half the time, the shows were pre-empted, moved due to sports, or placed on a different night without promotion of the change. Fan bases dry up with such treatment.

My recollection (which may be faulty) is that Futurama was treated the same way...sort of "Hey! *When* is this show on, anyway?!?"

I suppose if the DVD sets have done as well as the Family Guy sets have, Fox might look at bringing it back, but I don't see them committing the resources for the creation of a quality show.
