My hats off to Cartoon Netowrk. I'm glad to see they are following through with the Futurama purchase by upping the advertisement from FOXs current level of 0% to at least some. I hope as January 12th closes in, they'll continue to push Futurama as high as they can and continue to push for the more adult audience. 11:00pm is a MUCH better time slot for a show like Futurama; although it isn't a network station, I think Futurama will have a long and happy life on Cartoon Network (as long as they don't edit it anymore then it already is edited).

When 1/12/03 at 11:00pm comes around, I know where I'll be...

Am I the only one who thinks this ad would make a pretty good poster? I'm always wishing Futurama was popular enough for them to make as many posters as the Simpsons has, but I can't show off my favourite show on my bedroom wall :( Well, just my 2 beers.

Does anyone know if they are picking up the series,(including making of new episodes) or are they just buying reruns? I have been a fan of both simpsons and futurama since they both first aired, and I have been furious with fox's refusal to give futurama the time slot it deserves and the promotion it deserves. I only hope that the cartoon network recognizes what obviously escapes fox's attn. and that is futurama has a huge following and that it is an unthinkable move to cancel an award winning animated series, after all, isn't that what fox was founded on, an award winning animated series, THE SIMPSONS.

Cartoon Network purchased the rights to broadcast the existing 72 episodes of Futurama.

72 episodes? does that include the unaired season "5" episodes?

This is really awesome though. CN will advertise this wonderfully. They advertise all their good shows, even their crappy shows.

Yes, they do include the "Season 5" episodes...of course, since some are from season 2 up through season 4. Any bets we'll see "The Why of Fry" on CN before FOX????

Just a minor correction: "season 5" consist of 4ACV episodes and one 3ACV episode (Route Of All Evil), no 2ACV eps.

And I'll take that bet. I'm sure FOX have included somewhere in the syndication deal, that episodes have to have aired on FOX before CN can show them.

I'll put the "reruns" part in the main news somewhere as I seem to have confused a few people who don't read CGEF daily (shame on you!)

Also, I too would bet that they may not show episodes before they were on FOX. Maybe even have to wait some fixed amount of time.

What a way to celebrate my 21st birthday, than with some alcohol and an episode of Futurama (lol) . . . I love Cartoon Network's Adult Swim . . . they've brought back my favorite cancelled cartoon, "Mission Hill", the show the WB had no right ruining . . .

Cool Cool, more Futurama, they should make more episodes of Futurama and The Oblongs, those are the best shows on TV, and The Simpsons...eh...they suck now, oh well.

What I think is interesting is I've seen more commercials/advertising for the Futurama Cartoon Network reruns than I have for the new Season of Futurama... I didn't even realize that it started in November! Go CN!

How Cool is this!!! Futurama on CN, is the best idea. I get to see it at 10:00 (central) after work. (For some ideas for CN adult swim) bring back The Critic, Duckman,those shows were as funny as futurama and or The Simpsons!!
I still love SeaLab 2021, Bridman,Oblongs,and Homemovies. (Just two ideas), Anyway thanks Cartoon Network for keeping my favort show on!!!!!

Futurama ad...ver..tise...ments?? What is really going on? CN has the right idea sadly once again Fox falls short on a good thing. All the had to do was give Futurama a good time slot and some advertisements and we'd be a lot happier.

Syndication starts tomorrow!!!

While this is of course a fine development, I have two minor gripes:

(1) Its arrival coincides with the start of what looks to be the longest hiatus for another excellent sci-fi comedy cartoon - Space Ghost Coast to Coast. (although I don't really think there's a real cause and effect at work, and I'm fairly confident C2C will be back)

and

(2) What's with the 20th Fox logo after the 30th Century Fox logo at the end? Has this happened in any of the network airings? The 30th Century logo was such a rare case of somebody somewhere upstairs getting it. This compulsive need to slap on the 'proper' branding on top of it is depressing. What, are they afraid somebody going to think that it's some other company called Fox?
