cant wait for season 3 on dvd im going 2 play.com and get it 4

Play.com won't ship outside Europe anyway.
We're trying hard to keep this site up and pop-up free, but our popularity has been rising ever since we started in October 2001 which makes this harder and harder. Little contributions by our visitors through amazon are what keeps us afloat.

To #4, season 5 will never be out on DVD unless more episodes are made. All 72 episodes will be available on DVD in their production seasons 1-4.
Anyway i'm going over to amazon.co.uk now to pre-order my season 3 set, using the site link of course!
dammit2hellApr 5th 2003, 00:00
Damn right ! I'll use the link too. At least this site keeps me holding on to Futurama.
mikeycApr 5th 2003, 00:00
i know this aint got nothing 2 do with season 3 on dvd but if matt groening makes another series of futurama there should be a new girl working for planet express she should be sexy like amy but not stupid like fry it would make more people watch futurama and would really boost ratingany1 wants 2 email me about futurama i will email u bk!!!
TeralApr 5th 2003, 00:00
"she should be sexy like amy but not stupid like fry"

She already work for Planet Express. You might know her as Turanga Leela.

And people, mArc&Co work hard to bring us this site. The least we can do is give them a little boost on the referal pay, so I urge you all to shop at Amazon.co.uk (Amazon.de) through the CGEF links.

Ofcourse if you're thight for cash or a poor teenager (I know how that is), ya' gotta do what ya' gotta do. :)

What? This doesn't make any sense! The UK is already getting Season 3 by June 2 while we in the US have to wait until Sept 2 for SEASON 2! What a crazy world we live in!
BornintheUKApr 5th 2003, 00:00
Fox must like the UK
BrainSluggoApr 5th 2003, 00:00
(Sighs, repeats self) I ordered the set from Amazon.co.uk. I live in California. My GRAND TOTAL was
JamesApr 5th 2003, 00:00
Not that i'm complaining (as i benifit from the results) but i think fox use us in the UK as a test audience for the futurama DVDs. As you know Fox aren't exactly fully behind futurama, so they take a small risk by releasing it in our tiny country, then if it's successful (it was)they release the DVD in the US market.
This is only a theory, but you could say that our purchase of the region 2 DVD effects your chances of getting a region 1 release. Nothing to worry about as both seasons have done very very well, and season three is already in the top 50 on amazon.co.uk!
TeralApr 5th 2003, 00:00
The reason why US is behind region 2 is money! Releasing the DVD's in America too early would greatly decrease the value of syndication deals. Ie would Cartoon Network pay 10 million dollar for a show that's already available on region 1 DVD's? No. The release of the season 1 DVD indicates that FOX have given up on cutting anymore syndication deals.

As for the actual spread of the DVD releases: you guys in the US have it prety sweet. The span between season 1 and 2 here in Europe were around 9 months, in America it's 6 months.

Between season 2 and 3 it's 8 months, so you guys will probably have season 3 sometiem around February 2004 (note, only extrapolation)
SilentGmagiclightbulblighApr 6th 2003, 00:00
That makes sense, but still... Anyways thanks for clearing up the subject for us the US fans. I guess we do have it pretty sweet because Family Guy US release will contain Season 1 and 2 and Futurama Season 2 is only 6 months away from Season 1 US release. Maybe Season 3 will be released in Feb. of 2004. One can really hope unless Fox delays the release of Season 3 (like with The Simpsons dvds) to an unknown date.
BrainSluggoApr 6th 2003, 00:00
Alls I knows is dis: if these UK releases maintains their patterns, Season Four is gonnas be availables for youse pre-orders in Novembers or Decembers. (Once committed to Region 2, I'll stick with. I wouldn't want to have Season One/Region 2, Season Two/Region 1, Season Three/Region 2 or anything like that. I'd go nuts quick.)
thezapperApr 8th 2003, 00:00
I have just bought an all region dvd player specificly(?) for futurama and will pre order my season three set from the link on this site. as a side note is there even a release date scheduled for simpsons season three anywhere in the world and what is the hold up? F fox
PBarnsworthApr 8th 2003, 00:00
It's rare that we here in the UK get DVDs in advance of the US, but in this case we are very very lucky indeed. I have spotted season 3 cheaper than

I read in a new DVD mag (think it was DVD Review, or DVD monthly) that The Simpsons Season 3 is out in August. There is not an exact date, it just says TBC.
CliveApr 9th 2003, 00:00
August for simpson season three, could be a good birhtday present
VegemiteApr 9th 2003, 00:00
at this rate I'll have season 3 of futurama before season 3 of the simpons,
reverendApr 10th 2003, 00:00
Maybe FOX would be nicer to Futurama if it wasn't always insulted by it, as for example in 'When Aliens Attack'. I imagine the scriptwriters probably think the network bosses wouldn't be so petty, but I think they probably would. Look at tyhe X-Files. They were nice to that, and why? The main character was called Fox.
VegemiteApr 10th 2003, 00:00
does anyone know how much Matt and/or Fox are getting from the sale of futurama DVD's to the public and how much does it cost to make a season of Futurama, as I was think if the sale of seasons 1-4 of futurama could Matt possibly finance another season. or is it more complicated than that??
VegemiteApr 13th 2003, 00:00
As for fox releasing stuff to region 2 first, they would have done it to first test the audience reaction to it, and as such since the sale of region 2/4 in the UK and Australia the US have also been purchasing them and not there region 1 copies, so therefore the US sales of futurama/simpsons is below that of the sales to UK/Australia, so the release date for US is way after uk/australia release dates.
